We added a leveling kit just to straighten out the height and make it look a little more tough. Added some larger tires to the stock wheels. Absolutely love it!

    I just put a deposit down on my new 2022 Lunar Rock TRD sport. I think it’s the perfect balance between ever so slightly “luxury” and sporty! The limited is a bit too fancy for me, and the TRD off road/ pro I would

    I’d buy the limited 4Runner. You get so much more. I know we’re not comparing the TRD Pro in this video but I think people who buy that don’t really buy it what it’s intended for. Most people will be driving 90% on pavement which makes the limited the best choice. The only thing I would first buy on the limited is better tires.

    It may be that the typical buyer who wants the extras in the Limited doesn't tend to do off road driving, but there's nothing about the vehicle that means it's not extremely capable off road. I bought a used 2018 Limited with 60K miles that was never taken off road by the original owner, but that is going to change after I add steel skid plates and replace the running boards with rock sliders. I have no plans to do a lift or bigger tires because I want a jack of all trades truck that is good for everyday driving and pulling a small trailer cross country as well as driving off road - reasonable driving off road, not trying to crawl through a field of boulders. If there's any reason a stock 4Runner Limited plus body armor can't do anything any of the other stock 4Runner trim packages can do off road, I'd love to hear about it. Features on some of the other trim packages like a rock crawling mode are nice, but if you read the Toyota owner's manual they note they are basically convenience features that add no capability to what the vehicle can do.

    The wood grain trim is a holdover that needs to die and isn't a premium look. It's a dated look. I wish Toyota would realize that. I also wish Toyota would make a Limited TRD Pro! The Limited is a glorified grocery hauler. You're not taking it off road. A 4Runner is meant to be like a truck and go off-road. The only feature I want from Limited is the ventilated seats. Luckily, you can add that after market via third party. Living in the south I want the cool seats. Wake up Toyota!

    Nice video, I just bought the 2022 Limited. I had a 2018 Ford Explorer that needed a transmission at 80k miles. Overall I like the Limited. There are things I don't like about it. NO Storage by the driver. I bought a seat caddy to keep my items close by me. NO phone charger. with third row seats down, it is not as deep as the Explorer, so its limited in size. A little louder road noise. NO heated steering wheel. Side Mirrors don't retract in, this is nice in parking lots. 8 inch screen is nice, but the GMC and Ford screens are clearer are nicer. I have to punch too many buttons to get where I want to go. Since I drive a lot, I needed a car that won't crap out on me like my Explorer did at 80k miles. This car will do me fine.

    SR5 With 4wd best starting point for off road. Upgradeable. Toyota sense safety system. LED lights. Skid plates. 75 aspect ratio 17" Goodyear trail tires 31.5 " overall. Stock 8" infotainment good enough. 4 way power cloth seats great. 120v outlet cargo. 2022 $39500 Made in Japan. 16/19 mpg regular fuel. Pros. Tank on wheels. No turbos. Off road super capable. High clearance. Quiet cabin. No rattles off road. Sealed tight. Large cargo capacity. Rear power window. Lots standard features. High quality materials and fit. Excellent Reliability. DIY friendly. Built to last 20+ years. High and fast resale.
    Cons. Outdated 2000s design. Setup more for off road use than on road. Steering feels heavy on road. Wanders on road. Two handed driving. Slight bouncy handling in turns or braking. Sluggish 5 speed trans on road. 18 mpg expensive on long trips. Low cargo door height when up. While old design and not perfect, Overall better than comparable Wrangler or Bronco IMO. 2023 redesign maybe better.

    I had a '15 4Runner Limited and it's a great vehicle. It's reliable as the sun too. That said, the XREAS suspension shocks/struts are *very* expensive to replace. Plan on about $3,800 to fix XREAS when it fails. The 4Runners hold their value very well, too.

    • @hippiebits2071
      @hippiebits2071 3 года назад +2

      Or just replace with standard shocks like pretty much everyone does. The XREAS for good for 162k on my '07 threw on some Bilsteins for what it would cost on any similar vehicle and never looked back.

      @b.lemire7453 3 года назад +1

      @@hippiebits2071 It's a lot less if you live in the snowbelt where salt is used on the roads. XREAS began to fail on my '15 around 70k miles. I bought Bilstein 5100s in anticipation of doing an XREAS delete but ended up trading the 4R before completion. I'm told the handling of the vehicle is definitely different after an XREAS delete.

    Thanks for all your great insights which is why I chose to buy this exact 4runner 2022 2WD, at your dealership. Since 100% of my driving is normal road it now has 6k miles. I do have an issue and genuine dislike/concern about its transmission. I know it's an old true and tested built but for some reason it is so hard to shift out of park. Everytime it sounds like a harsh grind or bump. I have tried neutral + parking break and then park and it still so hard when I drive it next time to get it out of parking. It doesn't matter if its hot or cold. I took it to toyota and the tech said it was normal. It pulls forward when I shift it to park and when I turn the car off I hear a shutter or a light knock into parking. Please give me your advice since you have driven plenty of them. Or a video about the transmission rocking and if it's hard a normal thing to get out of parking. No transmission- rav4 2020, last year tundra, current tacoma feel this way or even any other first couple 4runner generations. Please help me out. Thank you!

    Hi Toyota Jeff. Love ❤️ ❤️
    I still have a 2002 Sport Edition 209k+ miles and Bought my 2nd runner several months ago a 2018 Ltd. I’ve always loved the hood scoops. I knew the Sport TRD was going to look a lot like the Ltd but with the scoop. Love the luxury and the JBL sound on my Ltd but I wish I had the blind spot monitor and panoramic viewer. That’s so cool. It’s on the Lexus too. My nephew is CRAZY for the TRD Pro. When I go visit I give him the key so I hope he can get one soon. Love the videos too. Keep them coming.

    Jeff, so interesting what you said about the gas mileage being the same on an all wheel drive vs rear wheel drive. I drive a Dodge Durango work vehicle. I recently got switched to an AWD version same make and model and the gas mileage is worse. Either Toyota are geniuses and figured out a way to make them even or someone is fibbing :)

      @@jalcanites2939 super white and silver Toyota paint does not hold up like other colors. I’m on my 3rd Toyota super white vehicle, every one of them went flat and this one is peeling. I was always told that white and silver are the only single stage paint colors for Toyota. There currently is a TSB on super white paint for almost all Toyota vehicles except a Tacoma. My truck with only 37000 miles looks like hell and Toyota does not care! My body shop estimate to fix was $5,000!

    I would prefer the TRD Sport over the Limited. That $1800 at the end of the window sticker is pure profit and I would never pay for dealer additions for this reason. The same holds true for paint sealer or treatments on the interior. All are unnecessary.
