A one child policy may be extreme, especially in the US where it is not a necessity. But when 12-15 year olds have a kid and then continue to spit out child after child while having social services take them away and putting them in foster care and nothing is done to prevent another pregnancy, do you really think that is a system that works?

Politicians are in the business of re-election. If our society stubbornly continues to hope for our government to solve problems (which is futile), then our citizens have to care enough about healthy parenting to make those that we elect be interested in the topic. But thinking and hoping our government will do something about improving parenting is foolish -- first start within yourself, then onto your familial hierarchy as well as your community.
Government mandated abortion for anyone who gets pregnant on government assistance or sterilization for anyone who cannot make child support payments.

I never said it worked well, just that the alternative is not the way to go. You can't restrict everyone from eating chocolate because some people get fat.

Well considering most economists think that China will be the new super power easily this half of this century I think they're doing something right. I say you just get less and less tax breaks the more children you get. Just my two cents.

That example and other such analogies fail because they relate to self-choice and the consequences are only felt by the person making the decision. Having a child though brings another inculpable entity into the equation whereby your choices directly affect their life. I don't pose the idea when one has no history with children, but when people continue to abuse their children, lose them to the state, etc. they have proven to be unfit and should not be allowed to just create more people to harm.
Love and understanding go alot further than ruling with an iron fist.
I'm sure you're really smart though and have learned from history than any time the government takes full control it ends really well for the inhabitants of that country.
And ofcourse there is going to be less suffering if there is less people to suffer. That doesn't mean it's right, and you do not get to chose wether a person suffers or not. That should be up to them.

Well, I'm an only child. So not really sure what your point is. And actually, yeah. If it makes society a better place and there is less suffering, it's pretty easy.
Many great people have come from broken homes, Some of the greatest people in the world have had to deal with adversity and hardships. You simply cannot ban life because you may perceive it to be bad or unhealthy.If you are worried about the environment they are growing up in then shouldn't you just ban everyone from reproducing in any third world country? It's just not the way to go about things, If anything they should have systems that actually work setup to help these people not control them
