The Most MAGICAL WEDDING at THE CASTLE | Deene Park

  • In the final instalment of my visit to Deene Park, I get stuck in and see all that goes on in preparing for a big wedding by the lake - one of three wedding venues on the estate. These historic houses rely on visitor income, the tours, the events, but weddings are a huge part of that income - which all helps with the restoration and repair, to preserve this part of Britain’s heritage. I’ll be exploring the beautiful gardens with Charlotte and Robert Brudenell - and seeing how Charlotte has created her own signature rose garden. With some polishing of silver and setting the table for our farewell dinner party - this visit to Deene Park has been a joy from start to finish.

We need those poo machines here in NYC in the parks and down by the water. We get inundated with Canadian Geese and they stay all summer. It is a real mess and a challenge to make sure dogs don't eat it (and we don't step in it! We do have trucks that size, but I have no idea what they do!
    What a great solution.
You must tell Ms. Charlotte and Mr. Robert what an incredibly delight they are in listening about the gardens and architecture. As I have said before, what warm and gracious hosts. Thank you!

Aloha Julie! This brings back memories of all the beautiful silver we polished beginning just before Thanksgiving in our home in preparationfor the Holidays every year. We (of course), did not live in a Castle, Manor home, or Estate, but my Mother had inherited the most beautiful Sterling service & China from my Grandmother, and laid out a beautiful table & meal for all the family & extended relatives as a tradition. As much as I disliked the "arduous task" of polishing all that silver, I would give anything to have those days back again!😊 Great video, stunning home & estate!

What a splendid journey through industry, history and beauty, Julie. It's inspired me to bring more of that into my own life in whatever humble way I can manage it.
I love what you said about dining around a beautifully appointed table. I love to set a splendid table for guests and continue to do so for myself. In fact, I made an extra effort on that score during the pandemic periods of isolation. I don't feel that I should miss out on the elegance of things on that account. I use my best tableware daily, and at Christmas or other celebrations I kick it up a little extra, with more flowers, finer wines and more courses. It makes life richer (and certainly less depressing) in a way that supper on a TV tray simply can't.
