    This machine stick welds on AC and DC. I have one myself. I’m amazed that people make videos and don’t even know there machine.

      Why does he switch polarity when there is a ac/dc switch on the machine 🤔? Thnx?

    I have a alpha tig 201xd and not sure why this is but I can NOT weld a 6010 rod when putting in a root pass in pipe

    If you try this and are having trouble, make sure you disconnect the tig pedal. Stick welding doesn't work right with the pedal attached. Also the operation instructions state DCEN while the chart next to it says DCEP. If you aren't sure, DCEP is a safer bet.

    What size 6011 were you using? amperage??, and were you still DCEP ??thanks , Joe

      +MrJoseph1157 Yes, my machine only does DC. It was 1/8th inch, I don't remeber the amps.

    nice welder! I think you would get better results if you used more of a drag angle whelp u stick welded. remember when there's slag you drag.

    What happened to the Eastwood?

    • @AdventuresinWelding
      @AdventuresinWelding  8 лет назад

      The Eastwood was retired. I went through 3 of them in one year. The company is great about replacing them when they go, so don't be scared if your thinking of getting one. I'm working on getting a lincoln 210 also.

    Can you weld 6010 with the ahp ?

    • @tougeattack

      +Dewayne Smith No reason you couldn't weld E6010 with this welder.

    • @satamanschmidt3428
      @satamanschmidt3428 7 лет назад

      No you can't. The reason is that the voltage output of the machine is not sufficient for 6010, 6011 no issue.

      @@satamanschmidt3428 I run 6010 with this no problem. Why would u say it couldn't?

    • @satamanschmidt3428
      @satamanschmidt3428 3 года назад

      @@chadwysocki1991 Because AHP says that you can't. I actually never tried it since I typically believe what the manufacturer tells me. Normally, I use 7014 and 7018 so I never considered that to be a problem. If I needed a deep penetration electrode I just used 6011.

    Hello Paul! I don't understand why you can't stick weld in AC mode with your new AHP machine? If it can tig weld AC, then you should be able to use a stinger instead of a torch and stick weld in AC. But I don't understand why you can't just flip the switch from DC to AC while in stick mode and weld AC?? Just curious. That 7018 seemed to strike off with no issues and sounded smooth as well. Same with the 6011...nice beads as well. Take care.

      +Mike Snyder Hi Mike. Thanks for watching. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't weld AC in stick mode. I thought for sure that the machine would be set up for it. I mean, "why not?" right? But there must be some circuitry that disables the AC/DC switch when you switch from TIG to stick. But that's ok. I've been wanting to buy an old Lincoln Tombstone to play with. I think you could drop one of those off a building and it would still weld. I saw one in a thrift store last week. So you might see it in a video in a couple of weeks!!

    i was shopping for an arc welder but would also like to have a tig some day.
    would it be a good choice for welding heavy duty bumpers and tow points on a truck?
    there are a lot of reviews about the tig function, thanks for doing one on the arc capability
    are you still enjoying the alpha tig?

      I've used mine on on really heavy metal. If your a pretty good stick welder the machine will do its part. Awesome Tig machine too.

      thanks you! i ordered one, it should be here Friday. i already have some 7018, 6011, argon tank, 3/32 er70s2 tig rods, and 3/32 2% Lanthanated Tungsten Electrodes to get started. any advice, or rods that the alphtig likes or dose not like?

    • @bennett12349

      +MrMrsregor I've used 6011, 7018, 7014, and 6013 rods and all done great. With up to 200 amps if you know what your doing u can weld most anything around the house or farm with this machine. Very smooth arc. I've used er70-6, silicon bronze, 4043, 308, 309, filler rods with 2% lathnated tungsten. I've just started to learn to Tig and have the addiction. Lol. I use mig almost daily at work and been stick welding for years but Tig is new to me. I mainly use 3/32 tungsten with all sizes filler but sharpen it more for the thinner stuff. I mainly use 3/32 and 1/16 filler material but bought some .045 acouple weeks ago for really thin metal and that's worked out pretty nicely. Just bought a ssd foot petal for it and it's much nicer than the one it comes with the machine. No complains at all so far.

      thanks for the info! sounds the same as me, i have been arc (stick) welding and mig welding for years and now want to start tig

    More practice will give you a nicer weld. It's still ugly. Your welding technique can be better but still not bad if your a beginner.
