a little more insight that may be of help...yes top designers do manufacture goods directly for TK Maxx but those goods are made to the same standards with the same materials as those goods they make for their own outlets & designer boutiques. Having spent billions over the years establishing a reputation brands like Moschino, Ralph Lauren, DKNY etc wouldn't want to devalue that by distributing shoddy 2nd rate products. They also impose terms & conditions on how some of these products can be presented within TK (no Ralph Lauren on front features for example) The RRPs are genuine and TK Maxx has a whole trading standards department validating them constantly, checking the designer's price guide & other retailers' price points. Any issues then the goods are pulled and reticketed. Goods stay at the original TK price for 6- 8 weeks and if they haven't sold they are reduced by 30% and put into the red ticket clearance zones where they will be reduced every 3 weeks going forward. Twice a year there is a seasonal clearout where all seasonal goods are reduced on yellow tickets where some great bargains can be found..the next one starts in about 3 weeks time. hope this is of some help
Thanks for sharing the codes. Never really believed the huge discounts they offer. Liked the garden pots and the reversible bench seat. Always find TKMaxx is like a jumble sale, crammed onto shelves and rails. Don’t go very often. Great video as always Mr C.
I miss you Carrington!!! I was watching so many other vlogs and haven’t watched you in days. Finally see you. Refreshing! A breath of fresh air you are.
Hope this helps : “The main three codes are one, two, and seven. One means produced for TK Maxx, two is 'close out buy' that is unsold from another brand, and seven is 'packaway' which means it's been packed for a previous year, like Christmas crackers bought in January for the following year. Found the info on google
There was a TV show that was called how do TK Maxx do that . They showed all the codes and what they meant . The code 2 is the best value. Also the item with a no 7 means it's an original item but it's been in storage and brought back out onto the shop floor . Maybe last year's stock .
I never really got the whole vibe with TKMaxx?? Went in once, and it was just a very badly organised jumble sale of new goods! Drove me mad! lol A brief visit, and not rushing to return.......lol xxx
Certainly interesting to know about the labels. Nothing seems to come up about number 6 online. I have never really believed the rrp and bought the item cos I liked it. Great video 😀
Great video. A few years ago I couldn't find a label on a huge fruit dish in TK, when I asked for a price the assistant told me policy was it should be sold at the cheapest priced item on the same shelf,so £2.99, best bargain I ever had. Also the Hairy Bikers cookware tins are fabulous quality I always buy them when spotted in TK.
I think the 7 code means another store that had the items sit unsold for a certain time limit than box the unsold goods up and sell them to another retailer in this case TK Maxx. Stores want to not have products sitting on their shelves for too long. Here in Canada I often find items that were previously sold by Target. I had a friend who worked at Winners, what TK Maxx is called in Canada and he said often shoes that are sold have had new labels on them as they don't want to have their brand sold at a discount.
Amazing thing about you is that you speak your thought process , so I feel I have lived experience vicariously through you . Finally somebody is sharing thought processes on TK know how to look.
Oh well, how interesting was that? I may look up that documentary! I am often in TK Max and it is my first shop my son & I head towards when we are Crimbo shopping, mainly for the toiletries for gifts. I never really bother about if it is a brand name or not, if it is a good price and I like it then in my basket it goes! I like to be able to get some unusual items for good prices too. Love their seasonal stuff like Halloween and Christmas bits. Something different this week from you, thank you for passing on your findings. Have a great week end Mr C xx
TK Max is one of my all time favourite shops, it's always a real treat to go in there and look for bargains! Thank you for this vlog, really enjoyed this and interesting about the meaning of the numbers 😯
How interesting, I never realised this, I always feel put off shopping in TK Maxx if I'm in a hurry as u tend to need spend ages looking but knowing this could really save time if you can tell the quality just by a quick check of the number, thankyou great video idea xx
Last comment. I learned something today about versions of brands which have exclusive contracts with the distributor. I knew it happened with handbags and outlet quality for same clothing brands, but didn’t know how widespread it was for other material goods. And yes, those pots had excellent price points - very good price for the size. No more H & M Home !!
Yes I too saw this documentary - so very very clever of TKM - still love this one stop shop. I first discovery this shop when I visited my sister who lives in Toronto many many moons ago.
Hi MR C.there was a programme on tv about TK MAXX ,,very interesting to know about the labels with different numbers on..thanks for sharing xx👍🌞🌞🌞🌞a bit late watching I've been on holiday
Thank you so much for this video, I'm a TK MAXX customer but I never know about the number codes. In future I will check for the codes. Pls find what is code number 6 in furniture?
Re the "pack away" code - I just read an article about two major retailers here in the US and they mentioned these two retailers have excess inventory so instead of selling the stuff now at heavily discounted prices, they will "pack away" the excess and try to sell it next year at regular price.
Love this, yes I saw the program about the codes, but would love to know what the other numbers 5 and 6 stand for 🤔 I love the soaps in store….. also love the wicker baskets, good prices.
Thank you for this info. Im a regular shopper in TK Maxx, and now will look at the price tag code. Bought a couple school bags for my children that had a “Converse” label on them, but noticed price tag had a (1) 😩 Now that Im checking them out the quality isnt quite there. Might be doing an exchange now. 🤔 Haha. Thx for taking us shopping with you. Enjoyed it very much, and yes.. lots of good finds in your store. Ours not as stocked as that one you visited.
I'll have to check it out the next time that I'm in TJ Maxx in my area. I loved that mosaic tile bench and matching table. If I had an outdoor space, that's what I would gravitate toward. That either bamboo or teak bench with the reversable back so that you could face each other was pretty clever. It was nice to see your video.
My favourite item was the wooden bench with the reversible back sections. I always love a good look round TK Maxx, and those garden planters were great, and good price too.
I had heard that TK Maxx have things specially made, but I didn’t know about the code numbers. Like you, I just buy what I like or need at a price that seems reasonable. I don’t take the big discounts they put on the labels too seriously. I love the variety of random stuff they have.
I heard about outlets such as Cheshire Oaks having clothes made for them and not sold in stores. I didn't know about tk max, so great tips. Thank you Mr C as always my fav. X
I watched at my mums. I don't think I've ever been to that retail park. I really need to make a trip to the biggest poundland which is in a retail park in Nottingham, I bit out of the way if you don't drive.
I used to work in a clothing shop that sold clothing seconds from the genuine suppliers. However if the line was popular the company used to get the same styles made up by a cheaper manufacturer and the quality was not as good!
I love your come and shop videos with me I never know they had there own clothing range and made buy TKMax very interesting I will have to watch the programme take care xx
Thank you for the video, very interesting to hear about the codes, learn something new all the time. I’ll keep an eye out when I go to shop there next 😊👍
I wasn't aware of it and an ex friend used to always buy branded underwear for her son. I wonder if she watched the program or even know about it. Very interesting. Actually when you think about it when there's a lot of one item it should make you think why so many reduced. xx
“The main three codes are one, two, and seven. One means produced for TK Maxx, two is 'close out buy' that is unsold from another brand, and seven is 'packaway' which means it's been packed for a previous year, like Christmas crackers bought in January for the following year.3 May 2022
I also watched the channel 5 show. It was interesting but it doesnt bother me if the products are made for tkmaxx. Its the items I love and that they were the right price. Only have the salt n pepper shakers le creuset from Tk maxx. Have around 25 pumpkins though lol. Love the autumn and easter decor.
There is a huge tv shopping channel who sell lots of designer / famous brands. I have bought loads over the years and I’m convinced that what they sell under those top names is not the same quality as if you bought directly from the brands.
Very interesting find! love shopping at TKMax perfect place to get bargain... & yes I often wondered about the brand doesn't sound familiar at all but it looks nice & now I know, why! Thanks for this detail video...
Really interesting. Thanks Mr C! Was thinking... if the Le Creuset are making them for TK Max (no 1)..then why does it say eg 15 GBP, down from 60 GBP? That seems like TK Max are trying to con their shoppers into believing they are getting original high quality Le Creuset, when in fact the are getting a lower quality version, because the prices are ALWAYS DOWN in TK Max! or how do you see it, Ewan?.. Äh you Saud it write at the end👍😂.. Guess I should wait to comment🤣.
thankyou for explaining the numbers clearly I was looking at the le creuse dishes recently remembering they were made for tk maxx but still love my chai spice latte candle
You clever little Sherlock you! I love it! I also didn’t know what F&F meant until you mentioned it here! We have decided in our family that B&M stands for Bloody Marvellous 🤩
Interesting. Have not been in the store for ages, but feel like I need to go on a code hunt for fun as well as bargains. I shop for what I like and don't take a great deal of notice of RRP as I think these are top price and need a pinch of salt to be believed.
I was in a TK Maxx store a while back and it was an end of sale day, the assistant told me that prices were reduced every hour if you had time to wait for something that you really really wanted!!! Don't know if they still do this!
This is very interesting . Although some stock may not of made it to a designer store due to faults that may not notice to the untrained eye ! More cost effective to sell it on than throw away . X
Lots of brands also make lower quality items specifically for their outlet shops, so you're paying a relative price for the fact it's lower quality than their usual stuff. Cheeky!
I afoid this shop as in London it is mayhem - the goods are stacked too close together and messy place which makes me just walk in and walk back out. I do appreciate that outer big cities the shops are more pleasing to the eye and more space to enjoy. Thank you for another enjoyable vlog.. 🌼
I did watch the same documentary on Channel 5. Thought it was super interesting and will visit my local one to have a little look. Most if your best bargains will be labelled ‘1’ or ‘2’ it seems, it I think TKMaxx’s prices are pretty good anyway. Probably won’t change the way I shop there, but it was good for you to have a look at their stock!
This was a revelation. I'm going to hazard a guess this coding system applies here in Canada. (Our version of TK Maxx is Winners). I've often wondered if a brand item was a legit item or not but never considered it might be a licensed or produced for the store item (code 1). Thank you for the insight Mr. C. 😊
Really interesting, I will definitely looking a little closer at the labels. I have often wondered about the quality of some of the labels especially in clothing, still a great store for a bargain though, thank you for sharing 🙂👍🏻
love the video Mr c, a lot of things in the shop you were at never been in a txmaxx shop for ages hope you bought somme goodies when you were shopping. x ❤️
I’ve always known that they have a different production line for outlets vs the store, especially for luxury items. I just didn’t know they have one for selling at TJ Max. This is interesting 🤔
Thanks for Vlog this TKMaxx shop, it was interesting to know all about the different codes . Do you know if any of the TKMaxx ceramic garden pots are Frost-proof as i hate buying a dear pot for say £15.99 then when the VC went comes it start crumbling because it isn’t frost-proof? Or do you know anywhere I can get frost-proof garden pots from that aren’t too expensive like in a garden centre are? Thanks have a great weekend.
There is a long, um, tradition of big stores purchasing license options to sell merch as you've seen at TJ Maxx. Most are not very blatant about it because customers look for big-name labels and think that they are getting quite the bargain. This is a different version of the similar practice of going to the grocery store and purchasing a store brand, which is more often than not the same quality as the major brand at a much lower price point. Consumers can be quite gullible, after all, right? I agree w/you about what you purchase. If you are happy with the quality, etc. the rest doesn't matter much. The sad reality is that when you buy a name brand you often pay for the name not the quality of the merchandise.
Wow. This is a fun find. I’ve never known that and I love shopping in TKMAX. Well this is going to make shopping fun and more interesting. Geek all you want Mr C, I love it. I was meant to watch the TKMAX program and then forgot so I will definitely watch it on catch up. The clearance section is where I often have my fun finds for Christmas stockings for my children. I often check out the food section and tried different foods. Brilliant video and hope you grabbed some bargains xx
I saw the programme about TK Maxx. I already knew lots of things were made for them but didn't know about the coding system so that is interesting. I can't say I shop by that as if I like something I buy it! Interesting to see the code system in action, thanks for the demo!
I really enjoyed this video, I buy so many expensive bags from Tk max and I have all the tags on them and I’m shitting myself to look at them in case they are all number 1s, I’m hoping they are all number 2
That’s really interesting. I do love TK Maxx & Homesense. I really missed them when the shops closed during lockdown. Incidentally anything ending in 97p in Costco is reduced.
a little more insight that may be of help...yes top designers do manufacture goods directly for TK Maxx but those goods are made to the same standards with the same materials as those goods they make for their own outlets & designer boutiques. Wow, this was such a great insight into how the system works
There's not too many RUclipsrs who pop up on my phone and I press play asap! So thank you Mr C x
yay thank you!
@@MrCarrington no worries

its the same for factory outlet places, some things are genuine reductions and some are made especially for the shop.
About 8:02. You will find the code on the bottom left corner. The code is 2 and preceded by a space and six digits, so a good find.
There was a TV show that was called how do TK Maxx do that . They showed all the codes and what they meant . The code 2 is the best value. Also the item with a no 7 means it's an original item but it's been in storage and brought back out onto the shop floor . Maybe last year's stock .

What is with the high prices for outdoor furniture! I’m always scouring Facebook Marketplace for used cheaper things.
QueenWest is the street name of the Winners/TJ Maxx head office in Canada, its an instore brand you can only find at one of their stores.
I'll have to check it out the next time that I'm in TJ Maxx in my area. I loved that mosaic tile bench and matching table. If I had an outdoor space, that's what I would gravitate toward. Adore TKs.
Always in that place whenever we go into our Manchester branch love it immensely.
Made me laugh with your number ones and two's
ha!
Very interesting, thanks Mr C xx
Thanks for sharing, I never understood what those numbers mean.
Very interesting find! love shopping at TKMax perfect place to get bargain... & yes I often wondered about the brand doesn't sound familiar at all but it looks nice & now I know, why! Thanks for this detail video...

This is very interesting. Number coding. Didn't know that before. Must look out for them next time am over. Thanks for sharing xo 🥰 🥰 🥰

The made in India stuff is beautiful 😍
All the garden and outdoor stuff seems to be a No.6....just an observation 🤗
I must say tk maxx is my favourite i shop could spend ages in there looking , And must say loved this with the numbers codes ,thank you mr c
Just back from Italy - Alessi - super!
This is very interesting . Although some stock may not of made it to a designer store due to faults that may not notice to the untrained eye ! More cost effective to sell it on than throw away . X

I do appreciate that outer big cities the shops are more pleasing to the eye and more space to enjoy. Thank you for another enjoyable vlog.. 🌼
i went to poundlandl today and got some garden bargains
Fun browse!! In the USA it's called TJ Maxx. Pretty things but I'm more into thrift stores. Loved the teapots though 😍👌
T K Maxx has opened in Australia but I'm yet to visit so was curious about your video xx
I'm in Australia, just checked a tag on a bag I bought recently, we have no code there. Sad
Hi, I'm new. Good video and very informative. Now I know what to look for in TK Maxx. I'm in Ireland so not far. First time in your page.
FANTASTIC VLOG AS ALWAYS MR CARRINGTON...keep em coming :)
nice looking around
VERY useful! I'll definitely be checking the tags from now on. Thanks for sharing this!
Hello dear love your videos spacial when your are cruising around Uk London here in California USA we gave TJMaxstore well Cioa Caro ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for sharing that I didn’t know that going to watch documentary thank you for letting us know take care keep safe all the family 👍👍👍😊
I bought four gin goblets by Dartington for 5 pounds in TK Maxx recently-they are on the manufacturers website for 28 pounds.
I did watch that program too , I will pay more attention to the codes now! 😁

Thanks so much for this was a bit shocked with the Guess bag but hey thanks for the tips your an angel
1 --> Stock made for TK Maxx
2 --> Stock sold at a higher price

I never knew this! Great to now know! Thank you! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Hi , loved this video especially as Chilwell is my local Tk Max , looks like a visit is coming up,
Those mustard planters and the green trellis panel were stunning 🤩
I never knew about it, just a thought when you sell an item on ebay it asks for mpn maybe this is why? That is the bar codes/etc
I watched that TV program too 😁
Very interesting
I had no idea! Thanks for letting us know.
I saw the programme about TK Maxx. I already knew lots of things were made for them but didn't know about the coding system so that is interesting. I can't say I shop by that as if I like something I buy it! Interesting to see the code system in action, thanks for the demo!
Saw the documentary a few weeks ago so I mostly look for the number 2 on the lable now haha
