- Hi everyone! I'm back with a come shopping with me, in TKMaxx! I watched a documentary about the store that was talking about the different numbers on labels and what they mean, so I thought it would be fun to take a look at them too! Hope you enjoy it :)

a little more insight that may be of help...yes top designers do manufacture goods directly for TK Maxx but those goods are made to the same standards with the same materials as those goods they make for their own outlets & designer boutiques. Having spent billions over the years establishing a reputation brands like Moschino, Ralph Lauren, DKNY etc wouldn't want to devalue that by distributing shoddy 2nd rate products. They also impose terms & conditions on how some of these products can be presented within TK (no Ralph Lauren on front features for example)
The RRPs are genuine and TK Maxx has a whole trading standards department validating them constantly, checking the designer's price guide & other retailers' price points. Any issues then the goods are pulled and reticketed.
Goods stay at the original TK price for 6- 8 weeks and if they haven't sold they are reduced by 30% and put into the red ticket clearance zones where they will be reduced every 3 weeks going forward.
Twice a year there is a seasonal clearout where all seasonal goods are reduced on yellow tickets where some great bargains can be found..the next one starts in about 3 weeks time.

Thanks for sharing the codes. Never really believed the huge discounts they offer. Liked the garden pots and the reversible bench seat. Always find TKMaxx is like a jumble sale, crammed onto shelves and rails. Don’t go very often. Great video as always Mr C.

Amazing thing about you is that you speak your thought process , so I feel I have lived experience vicariously through you . Finally somebody is sharing thought processes on TK know how to look.
There was a TV show that was called how do TK Maxx do that . They showed all the codes and what they meant . The code 2 is the best value. Also the item with a no 7 means it's an original item but it's been in storage and brought back out onto the shop floor . Maybe last year's stock .
its the same for factory outlet places, some things are genuine reductions and some are made especially for the shop.

Certainly interesting to know about the labels. Nothing seems to come up about number 6 online. I have never really believed the rrp and bought the item cos I liked it. Great video 😀
I'll have to check it out the next time that I'm in TJ Maxx in my area. I loved that mosaic tile bench and matching table. If I had an outdoor space, that's what I would gravitate toward. That either bamboo or teak bench with the reversable back so that you could face each other was pretty clever. It was nice to see your video.

Yes I too saw this documentary - so very very clever of TKM - still love this one stop shop. I first discovery this shop when I visited my sister who lives in Toronto many many moons ago.

I was meant to watch the TKMAX program and then forgot so I will definitely watch it on catch up.
The clearance section is where I often have my fun finds for Christmas stockings for my children.
I often check out the food section and tried different foods.

Oh well, how interesting was that? I may look up that documentary! I am often in TK Max and it is my first shop my son & I head towards when we are Crimbo shopping, mainly for the toiletries for gifts. I never really bother about if it is a brand name or not, if it is a good price and I like it then in my basket it goes! I like to be able to get some unusual items for good prices too. Love their seasonal stuff like Halloween and Christmas bits. Something different this week from you, thank you for passing on your findings. Have a great week end Mr C xx

Great video. A few years ago I couldn't find a label on a huge fruit dish in TK, when I asked for a price the assistant told me policy was it should be sold at the cheapest priced item on the same shelf,so £2.99, best bargain I ever had. Also the Hairy Bikers cookware tins are fabulous quality I always buy them when spotted in TK.
I heard about outlets such as Cheshire Oaks having clothes made for them and not sold in stores. I didn't know about tk max, so great tips. Thank you Mr C as always my fav. X

How interesting, I never realised this, I always feel put off shopping in TK Maxx if I'm in a hurry as u tend to need spend ages looking but knowing this could really save time if you can tell the quality just by a quick check of the number, thankyou great video idea xx

thankyou for explaining the numbers clearly I was looking at the le creuse dishes recently remembering they were made for tk maxx but still love my chai spice latte candle
My favourite item was the wooden bench with the reversible back sections. I always love a good look round TK Maxx, and those garden planters were great, and good price too.

Last comment. I learned something today about versions of brands which have exclusive contracts with the distributor. I knew it happened with handbags and outlet quality for same clothing brands, but didn’t know how widespread it was for other material goods. And yes, those pots had excellent price points - very good price for the size. No more H & M Home !!

Thank you for this info. Im a regular shopper in TK Maxx, and now will look at the price tag code. Bought a couple school bags for my children that had a “Converse” label on them, but noticed price tag had a (1) 😩 Now that Im checking them
out the quality isnt quite there. Might be doing an exchange now. 🤔 Haha. Thx for taking us shopping with you. Enjoyed it very much, and yes.. lots of good finds in your store. Ours not as stocked as that one you visited.

Really interesting, I will definitely looking a little closer at the labels. I have often wondered about the quality of some of the labels especially in clothing, still a great store for a bargain though, thank you for sharing 🙂👍🏻
I never really got the whole vibe with TKMaxx?? Went in once, and it was just a very badly organised jumble sale of new goods! Drove me mad! lol A brief visit, and not rushing to return.......lol xxx

Loved the colourful Allen keys in the diy section 🤣 and if I’m shopping in tkmaxx and unsure if it’s a bargain or not I always Google to check. I like that you can pick things up from there that you can’t find anywhere else or are more American brands etc - Halloween stuff creeping in to my local tkmaxx already! 💀👻🎃

I saw the programme about TK Maxx. I already knew lots of things were made for them but didn't know about the coding system so that is interesting. I can't say I shop by that as if I like something I buy it! Interesting to see the code system in action, thanks for the demo!

I had heard that TK Maxx have things specially made, but I didn’t know about the code numbers. Like you, I just buy what I like or need at a price that seems reasonable. I don’t take the big discounts they put on the labels too seriously. I love the variety of random stuff they have.
I think the 7 code means another store that had the items sit unsold for a certain time limit than box the unsold goods up and sell them to another retailer in this case TK Maxx. Stores want to not have products sitting on their shelves for too long. Here in Canada I often find items that were previously sold by Target. I had a friend who worked at Winners, what TK Maxx is called in Canada and he said often shoes that are sold have had new labels on them as they don't want to have their brand sold at a discount.

Love what I think is a console table at 15:15😍 I had no idea about the coding, but what I will say is...if I did know, I would have been doing exactly what you did...having a damned good look around at all the tickets😂
About 8:02. You will find the code on the bottom left corner. The code is 2 and preceded by a space and six digits, so a good find.

Hi, I'm new. Good video and very informative. Now I know what to look for in TK Maxx. I'm in Ireland so not far. First time in your page.
I used to work in a clothing shop that sold clothing seconds from the genuine suppliers. However if the line was popular the company used to get the same styles made up by a cheaper manufacturer and the quality was not as good!
Lots of brands also make lower quality items specifically for their outlet shops, so you're paying a relative price for the fact it's lower quality than their usual stuff. Cheeky!
I wasn't aware of it and an ex friend used to always buy branded underwear for her son. I wonder if she watched the program or even know about it. Very interesting. Actually when you think about it when there's a lot of one item it should make you think why so many reduced. xx

Do you know if any of the TKMaxx ceramic garden pots are Frost-proof as i hate buying a dear pot for say £15.99 then when the VC went comes it start crumbling because it isn’t frost-proof?

I did watch the same documentary on Channel 5. Thought it was super interesting and will visit my local one to have a little look. Most if your best bargains will be labelled ‘1’ or ‘2’ it seems, it I think TKMaxx’s prices are pretty good anyway. Probably won’t change the way I shop there, but it was good for you to have a look at their stock!

I also watched the channel 5 show. It was interesting but it doesnt bother me if the products are made for tkmaxx. Its the items I love and that they were the right price. Only have the salt n pepper shakers le creuset from Tk maxx. Have around 25 pumpkins though lol. Love the autumn and easter decor.
Now I know why the Nike socks I got for my son felt different to the ones from sports direct.
I watched at my mums. I don't think I've ever been to that retail park. I really need to make a trip to the biggest poundland which is in a retail park in Nottingham, I bit out of the way if you don't drive.
Saw the documentary a few weeks ago so I mostly look for the number 2 on the lable now haha
