এই বাঁশগাছগুলো মূলত ল্যাবরেটরিতে উদ্ভাবিত। বাঁশ চাষের প্রক্রিয়া সহজ করতে বাংলাদেশ বন গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট (বিএফআরআই) দুই দশক আগে একটি গবেষণা প্রকল্প নেয়, উদ্দেশ্য ছিল টিস্যু কালচার ব্যবহার করে দ্রুত চারা উৎপাদন।
গবেষকরা জানিয়েছেন, বাঁশের চারা তৈরি বা চাষ অনেক দীর্ঘ প্রক্রিয়া। আধুনিক পদ্ধতিতে চারা তৈরির জন্য বিএফআরআই ১৯৯১ সাল থেকে টিস্যু কালচার ল্যাব চালু করে। আর এই আধুনিক পদ্ধতিতে বরাক, মাকলা ও করজবা বাঁশের চারা তৈরি করতে গিয়ে নতুন তিন প্রজাতি উদ্ভাবন করেন গবেষকরা।
