Both can be used but MRI provides greater contrast resolution that's why it's expensive not all patients can pay for it . so CT performed for all suspected people if you couldn't find the lesion with CT and you still suspect brain tumor then you have to do MRI.

what is that ? :D , to diagnose a brain tumour we have to do MRI NOT CT , A CT scan is essential for hemorrahgic disease and strokes
