The entire point of life: Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve. Mathew 20: 28. We are no different. This entire life is a representation of the spiritual warfare going on. Good vs evil. God isn't a flying man in the sky, but the actual representation of Love, Hope, Joy, Peace, Light, etc. Not metaphor, but literally, like an extra demintional wavelength of thought, emotions, and intent. The devil is the opposite wavelength, pain, fear, hate, anger, darkness, etc. Human life is serving one of these two. Not a man in the sky, actual sentient collective universal Love. However, humans are primatives, we make mistakes. It's in our nature, since the fall, to go down the wrong path. This means at some time each one of us has served darkness to some degree. God understands our limited understanding of our own actions, so he gave us forgiveness, though sacrificing himself in human form as Jesus Christ. It is our duty to accept that sacrifice, get the forgiveness, and be better, helping others be better, and spreading this wavelength of Love, Hope, Joy, Peace, Light, etc, thoughout the universe. But God had to make a way for us to get to this place spiritually, this is why evidence is not allowed. Evidence will make you believe, using the fear of absolute punishment to change your behavior, but that won't make you better, just scared. Faith makes you better. It is what redeemes us, not our works. Faith is the hope that things get better, that justice always prevails, that we're at least loved by our creator. But it has to be Faith in Jesus, because of his sacrifice. And there can't be evidence to point us to him, because Love had to be fair. If there were a code in our DNA, what about everyone born before genetic sequencing? If there were a book with the solar system thosands of years ago, what would stop an evil person from hiding/destroying it? If it were something you had to go to, what about the geographically isolated, imprisoned, or enslaved. If it were a train of logic, what about the uneducated, or mentally slow? Not to mention all the people born before schools. Love cannot give to one without giving to the other. So the key to salvation had to be something everyone has access to. The only thing is Faith. This is why God puts it upon your heart to learn about these things, even if it's only to criticize, or hate. God is everywhere, because Love is everywhere, and so is the devil, because hate is everywhere. They're in your head all the time, regardless of weather or not you accept that. They whisper inside your heart, giving you ideas. But more than that, they're inside everyone's heart. This is how they get things done. They corrordanate us like pieces on a chess board. The only difference is, we get to chose who's side we're playing for. At the end of our life, we go to that team's home base, Heaven, or Hell. A place where all that exists is those wavelengths. Hate, pain, anger, fear, darkness; or Love, Hope, Joy, Peace, Pleasure, Light. The choice is yours to make. But you cannot go to Heaven with hate in your heart. You must forgive, repent, and spread joy for those around you. These are sentient eternal controlling forces in our universe. Heaven and Hell are very real places, I've seen them. Those steps prime your soul for a meeting with God. Very literally. Once you've done all four, in that order, you get divine revelation, with all the evidence you'll ever need. They are, forgive your parents, break down before Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and read the Bible. Step four takes three books to get the revelation. I recommend Genesis, Mathew, and then either Luke, Psalms, or proverbs. The order of the steps is important, step 1 has to come before step 3. I can state that for an absolute certainty that these steps always work. Please, take your salvation seriously. See for yourself. Do those steps. Jesus Christ is Lord. It's all True

@@opcode114 "In Ken Burns' documentary Baseball, noted journalist and author Dan Okrent said Ruth was “the best lefthanded pitcher of the 1910s, without question, in the American League.” Indeed, among AL lefties with at least 1,000 IP in the decade, Ruth had the lowest ERA (2.19) and highest winning percentage (.659) while ranking fourth in wins, tied for fourth in shutouts and ninth in strikeouts. In six seasons with Ruth, the Red Sox won three World Series titles. In 107 seasons without him they have won four. Ruth is the only player since the turn of the 20th century to lead his league in Triple Crown categories as both a hitter and a pitcher and he did it in the span of three years." His home run record is even more impressive considering stadiums were much larger back then compared to the puny Stadium sizes of today..a comparison of Ryan Howard's 58 home run season showing it would equal about 30 homeruns in Yankee Stadium, when Babe Ruth was playing: "Here's Ryan Howard and his 58 dingers in 2006 according to hit tracker I have marked in red, the ones that appear would fall short of '28 YS. There are 27 out of 58 non-dingers, with four more right on the fence line. If we assume half would be dingers, that's 29 of 58, exactly 50% that wouldn't have been four sackers. Certainly not all of the 29 would have been outs. Some doubles, and even being Howard, yes, a triple or two. With outfields playing back further, more fly-outs than doubles and triples combined imo."
@@fitness..moveyoullgetit5832 I’m not denying Ruth’s records or accomplishments. As a youngster i was a little smug about the fact that i knew ruth was far better pitcher than he was a fielder and hitter, and one of the greatest pitchers in baseball’s history. However :) , the phrases “One of the greatest American wrestlers”, “among the top...” are not phrases used to describe Dan Gable’s wrestling achievements. He stands alone in his dominating career. And has done so for 40+ years. His records are available almost immediately with a search so i wont post them here. P.S. I prefer Gehrig
Larry is a great man, he’s the man that spilled the ink. Met him several times here in Oregon, never met Dan Gable, but always been my all time hero. I wanted to wrestle for him so badly but unfortunately you have tremendous wrestling talent, I had tremendous dreams. I also know that Mr. Gable used to get man handled in practice by Bob Buzzard, and Bob was no joke as a coach here in Oregon. He had some amazing stories about Mr. Gable. Hopefully I will meet him one day.
4:01 -- I attended a clinic in NJ featuring Gable in 2003. He was in his early 50's I think at the time, maybe a touch older. The clinic was for kids, young kids through high school. I was only there watching from the bleachers with a couple of friends who were high school coaches. Before the clinic, like 20 minutes or more prior to the start, Gable was in the back of the gym warming up with the kind of intensity that most Senior level athletes don't even attempt. He was taking shots, doing jumps, slapping his arms and legs like a madman... He was really working himself into a lather. And all of it was just so he could be prepared to teach techniques and drills at a clinic for kids.
Dan was spot on at the end there and it is a lesson everyone on social media should learn..you ask or fame and fortune but are you mentally ready for fame and fortune. To add to it, it is one thing to receive a million dollars, it is a whole different world to flip that million.
I had a high school teacher who was also the wrestling coach. He only stayed at my school for one year, and must have gotten a better offer from another school, because he was an excellent coach. The heavyweight division sported the Illinois State 2nd place finisher (from my school) to Nemsky the Champion. That teacher/coach said he knew Mr. Gable, he may have even went to Iowa State around the same time. I've never forgotten him or Dan Gable.
He’s talking about his second wind. When you get to that place, you’re moving through your heart. Before that, everything is through the head. Heart beats head every time.
Dan Gable used to do wind sprints until he literally passed out. That gives you an idea of how hard he trained. Also, there's a story of how when he'd first gone to college he decided he'd earned a break and was drinking a beer in the student union. Somehow, his mother heard about it, when down there, and slapped him across the face.
No competitive individual sport athlete in the history of earth has ever said, “I prepared the best way I could according to the plan, I felt good that day and gave it my best, and just lost to another guy who was better that day”. I get a kick out of sports fans who do the same. “Why did your team lose?” It’s never because the other team was better that day. My favorites are “they just didn’t want to play”, “we gave it to them”. I have news folks. Sometimes someone better than us beats us.
I know exactly what he's talking about. I was a competitive runner. You knew if you could hear the spectators halfway through the race you weren't in it properly and probably wouldn't finish well. You never heard them or noticed them if you were in it body and mind, running your best. You can only hear/notice them if something is wrong with your focus or body preventing you from competing fully.
Warm-up was a physical and mental thing for me. Without it, I could see being susceptible to the weaknesses that I would build myself to push past mentally and physically.
larry destroyed dan so bad that day he never quite recovered. few think about dan's achievements before they think about that mach. dan was never the same.
I saw that match in a barber shop in Washburn, Iowa. My Dad, brother and I were there. The whole barber shop was watching it. No barber was cutting hair. Everyone stopped and watched it on a black and white TV up high in the corner. Everyone one was shocked and it was dead quiet after. Took a while to recover and get back to normal. You couldn't blame the ref, couldn't blame anything or anyone. He lost. Great lesson. Complacency and taking opponents for granted no matter your record can bite you and you won't see it coming
I use to live in that area. My family's origin is from Jesup and Gilbertville. I moved away from Iowa. People ask me if I wrestled when they find out if I'm from Iowa. It's due to him. Man's a legend
This is such a crazy piece of wrestling history. Gable was so damn dominant that it’s just insane that he would go undefeated all his career then lose the very last freakin match
Joe, I'm only hear because Spotify doesn't have a comment section yet, but dude you have to have Khruangbin on, best band out of Texas currently, PLEASE.
Facts. My old wrestling coach Art Ziegler was about 60 at the time this occurred. We are in the weight room one day, and the biggest football player in school walks in “Zig, I bet I could take you. You’re just too old”. Zig shot single leg, raised kid up, flipped him into trash can. Kicked trash can down and rolled it across the gym floor and said “get out of my gym”. That wresting strength and skill doesn’t go away.
He can! He did, when he coached NCAA champions, after he had two hip replacements. Warrior, doesn't even begin to describe Gable! Trailblazer and Legend and more...
I can testify I took a few pictures with gable throughout my years and he always warmed up to take pictures . At 16 I was like what is he doing but this is hilarious now , I guess he warms up for everything since losing that match.
I wrestled from elementary school to senior year of high school. I was by no means a high level wrestler and didn’t make it to college wrestling. Love the sport but didn’t take it as seriously as I could have. Looking back my best matches was when warmed up to point of almost being tired. Wish I included warming up more like Gable stressed in the importance of in this video.
I respect this man greatly being a wrestler myself. But I didn’t expect him to give an excuse like that. He beat you mr. gable. He showed up. Tip ya hat sir. Legend tho. 🙏
I have a shitload more respect for dan then i had. But i always had alot for him. I did hear that he lost match because it was first time he gave an interveiw.. i wish i coulda been coached by this man !!!

inateresting, I appreciate Dan's honesty to admit the loss 'haunts' him to this day, but that it was good for him.....golden man, golden words. thanks Joe!
honestly the first few times i was on camera i was exhausted by the time i was done. being nervous zaps your energy. you're frustrated and you forget to even breathe. ive never heard this explanation of why he lost but it makes complete sense
Sounds like excuses
@@chuchorodriguez1893 It is, and he’s excused.
@@chuchorodriguez1893 No it’s not an excuse, it’s science. When you’re nervous you use your energy and a lot higher rate than if you were relaxed, meaning you’ll fatigue a lot earlier. Most wrestlers know this because they’ve felt it. Even national champs have had the same thing happen to them ITS COMMON.
"Adrenaline Dump".....been there
I’ve had the honor of meeting him many times from living in Iowa, he’s tough as nails and just an incredible human being. Going to his wrestling camps growing up, as well as Cael Sanderson were amazing. I felt blessed to be in the presence of legends.
Great to see Gable on JRE. True American champion in every regard. I went to his summer camp in Iowa a couple times in the 90s. Learning drills/technique directly from Gable, Brands bros, Lincoln McIlravy.....doesn't get much better than that.

Larry Owings brother was my my highshcool wrestling coach. One day an old guy shows up in a faded yellow singlet. It was larry. So cool to see him role around and learn a few things from him. It was kinda crazy to have the only man to ever beat Dan Gable in our litte 150 kid school.
Very cool
My brothers wrestled for Canby Union High School with Larry Owings. We celebrated with him in our home town when he beat you. Congratulations on your career. 🎉
Dan The Legend, he loses the match, but by doing so, breaks the will of the opponent.
amazing, just kind of glossed over it. What a man
Larry owings was a good guy though, sad for him::
Hearing his name always makes me feel proud to be from Iowa !! What a Beast !!!
Dan Gable is the MAN!
Sure is. techd my grandpa at midlands
The entire point of life:
Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve.

As a Minnesota kid, this guy is a LEGEND. wonderful clip.
As a young buck from Old Town Arizona this guy is legend
As an Arizonian raised in the city of Tombstone this guy is a legend
Former U. of Minnesota Wrestling Coach Jay Robinson was on the 1972 US Olympic Wrestling team with Dan Gable - AND was one of his Assistant Coaches at U. of Iowa for about 8 years

Dan Gable what a great man, great interview.
This guy is 72 and looks and sounds like he is in his fifties.
and doesn't have a real bone left in his body
Nah he looks about 70, a good 70 though
Mid sixties but very energetic and a good aura hung at heart ha
He can't walk though hips gone
He can barley walk
I remember learning about him during my high school wrestling years. Man is a legend!
I grew up in Iowa. I was in junior high school when Dan was in his Senior year wrestling for Waterloo. He was a legend to all of us before he got to ISU. He inspired me and so many of us not just for wrestling skills but living life going forward. That's the reward wrestling does for you. He's the greatest athlete but even greater human being! Thanks Dan, it was a great time to be growing-up in Iowa and you never disappointed me. You taught me motivation in every aspect of LIFE.
This podcast was awsomee. I knew who Dan gable was from the whole gable grip technique but I didnt know the man. What a special podcast this was imo. Thank you Joe and Dan.
Dan Gable is like the Babe Ruth of wrestling.
no
Babe Ruth is not even close to this level
Dude has a literal grip named after him because it’s so damn effective. He’a without a doubt one of the most influential grapplers that will ever live.
Ruth is the only player since the turn of the 20th century to lead his league in Triple Crown categories as both a hitter and a pitcher and he did it in the span of three years."
His home run record is even more impressive considering stadiums were much larger back then compared to the puny Stadium sizes of today..a comparison of Ryan Howard's 58 home run season showing it would equal about 30 homeruns in Yankee Stadium, when Babe Ruth was playing:
"Here's Ryan Howard and his 58 dingers in 2006 according to hit tracker
I have marked in red, the ones that appear would fall short of '28 YS.
Awesome that you had the privilege to sit down with the legend himself
Still awesome after all these years.
Much respect.
Don’t know much about wrestling but this guy is really genuine. Heard about Rulon Gardner as a great wrestler.
In can relate I don't think you feel tired. You just feel slow and when you notice the crowd you know your not focused.
Dan Gable is the Michael Jordon or Tom Brady of wrestling. He was a great coach also.
I never heard of him. It's impressive how many in the comments love this guy.
No, Michael Jordan and Tom Brady are the "Dan Gables" of their respective sports lol
Sorry Cael Sanderson takes that title.
Not to take anything from Dan Gable, but MJ/TB of wrestling would be Alexandr Karelin. 887wins and 2 losses
I will not even get into what he won as a wrestler. Aa a coach, his teams won 15 Division I titles. Game Over !
“You shoot you score, they shoot YOU SCORE!” -Dan Gable
Dan Gable is a genuinely good human being!!
The boogyman checks under his bed for Dan Gable
the concentration of amazing mid-west wrestlers is astounding & they don't mess @ ! he was a product of ALL of that intensity & mastered it
Warm-ups are absolutely critical before intense competition.
Would you really expect anything less from Dan Gable....?
Dan was spot on at the end there and it is a lesson everyone on social media should learn..you ask or fame and fortune but are you mentally ready for fame and fortune. To add to it, it is one thing to receive a million dollars, it is a whole different world to flip that million.
Dude what a cast.
All it takes is once love this moral.!
you need a podcast with John Smith
I've always been told to get your second wind before the match starts, it does make a big difference.
So this is who the grip is named after.
I love his pilsophy he's a great legend n motivator
And definitely in the moment
Waterloo West High alumni baby, gable representing the 319 baby!
Now here's the Real GOAT!
He’s talking about his second wind. When you get to that place, you’re moving through your heart. Before that, everything is through the head. Heart beats head every time.
Dam Gable was a legend that every wrestling mat heard the name of in the 1990's. He will always be remembered.
try 1980's
Dan Gable used to do wind sprints until he literally passed out. That gives you an idea of how hard he trained. Also, there's a story of how when he'd first gone to college he decided he'd earned a break and was drinking a beer in the student union. Somehow, his mother heard about it, when down there, and slapped him across the face.
I always feel best during my 2nd or 3rd match. He is absolutely right about warming up hard.
Exactly, I have the same opinion. Watch the Larry Owings documentary on this. He prepared and took it to him and deserved the win.
Rampage Jackson did agaisnt Jon Jones
DG here basically says it was the refs call that decided it. Doesn’t recall being flat on his back.
"I went undefeated in high school, 181 -1 in college, and then I got good." Dan Gable

What an absolute legend. Thought this guy was dead tbh. The Gable was my favorite pinning move in wrestling. What a humble man too

IDK he's kinda got a Parkinson twitch going on......
He has said his body is wrecked these days.
Lmao no. He looks like any other old white dude.

I don’t mind spotify but man would timestamps be great...
I can see why he was tired. He was thrown off his routine and he focused all his mental preparation on the interview as opposed to his warm up.
Fuck man anytime you have a big thing coming up and you get caught up in something else and don't have a good 30 minutes to go over it in your mind it will throw you off your game. It doesn't have to be physical it can be a math test or a job interview. Anything you have built up in your head those last couple of moments before it are huge.
Lesson learned... don't be too over confidence and takes thing lighty..👍
