The cottage from the movie "Holiday" reminds me of your home. I would like to see it with a little night front porch on and the street lights. I would like to continue to see the changes as you transform with your home.
My son and daughter in law are tearing out an overgrown garden (once loved). I'm taking anything I can find space for! Hearing how you sorted things out would be so helpful!
Its not grand, to me ,is a compliment. If I ever get my mansion is the sky... I want it to be a cottage! No matter how many times I have seen the before and after of the front view, it still always just amazes me. The vision you had was incredible. I never tire of walking through your home and garden.
You achieved your goals 1000%! You took a house that was just hideous when you bought it & turned it into a dream. I don't know how you were able to see through the ugly to see what it could be. You truly have a gift. Your home looks like one from a magazine.
Love that! there was a comedian who said he liked to watch golf while he napped - the view was always nice and you could follow the story even if you missed pieces.
I love that you spent so much time talking about the garden/yard. Mine will take years of labor. It is awesome to use family heirlooms and be individual. I hate that so many people's homes are identical and basically an advertisement for a store. You did great by keeping your home "liveable". I have recently become turned off by videos of homes that don't look like it is possible to live in them amidst so many decorations. Good job.
If I were driving past your house, the stone siding and gorgeous front porch would make me brake for a longer look. Then I'd turn around a second look to take in the front garden! 💕
I just found your channel . The first video I happen to watch was your renewing of your cottage garden ( a lot of work but worth it) and I enjoyed your calm, happy voice explaining everything but you weren’t too wordy. Then I clicked on the next suggestion in the upper left hand corner and found your home interior. It was beautiful… I love your style. Anyway when you mentioned that you needed to level the floors because you needed wheelchair accessibility; I was hooked because I’ve had a wheelchair accessible home for 40 years (my daughter was born with spina bifida 45 years ago and has needed a wheelchair since she was 10). So…I am happy to have found your channel. Thanks for the effort you put into making these videos. 🥰
Another fantastic video! It's funny as I live in the California region but have yet to visit Carmel by the Sea, I try to avoid the central coast line if possible lol. Yet here I am influenced by your home on the East Coast, down to having the same mindset of wanting our cottages to follow the tradition of using materials that are local. It's fascinating how you too had your own oddball obstacles and what your solutions were to have both function and cohesion to the layout of your cottage. A garden video would be nice to see, you can break it down different ways such as seasonal plants, shade required plants vs lots of sunlight, historical influences, tips and gardening hacks, and other video ideas that can be inspirational. Unfortunately I live in a dry and hot region that is limited with the cottage garden, and I am fine with sticking to a more farm style garden, it would be influential to learn from any garden in my opinion.
I spent most of my life in the desert southwest and high altitude desert and know what survives drought! I love having a chance to grow things like hydrangeas!
I love your videos! I was in Alexandria recently and had the pleasure of eating dinner at a place called Urbano 116. If you like Mexican food, I highly recommend this restaurant. I’m from Arizona and live in Texas now, so I believe I may know good Mexican food, haha.
Wow what inspiration this video was! Inside, outside and in mi lady's garden. I loved it. The type of video so packed with inspiration one must watch it over and over. A real delight. You have gleaned a lot of knowledge thru the years and I thank you for always sharing it with us. Your home is unique, no cookie cutter here. Gorgeous and comfy cozy, all anyone could want. I always anxiously await each new video. Blessings from Michigan
Thank you for this wonderful video and all the info on cottages. I just love it. I would love to hear about how your garden evolved. I love how you can see outside throughout your beautiful cottage. Thank you again sweet lady. Bring us more and more of your idea’s and knowledge. Hugs from Texas
I love your house! It's so pretty, especially the stonework. My house is also one that cannot be replicated by going to a local store like Target or HomeGoods. I had someone ask me to decorate their house like mine and I told them that I couldn't for the same reason that you gave. I think that is the best way to decorate because it's truly personal and one of a kind.
You are so talented, Lauri, and I absolutely adore your home! If I were to drive down your street and pass by your home, I would say "now that feels like home to me"!
@@stonecottageadventures304 I love your channel and hope more people find it. I would be interested to see how you cleaned up and revised the original overgrown garden. Would you consider storing away the two dining chairs that stand to the right and left of the bench under the triple window? Although perhaps you use them too frequently to store them elsewhere.
Love your home!!!!! And I am loving watching your videos! I live down in Chesterfield so we are not far from each other. I make frequent trips up your way! Very charming and inspirational!!!! I am working on my colonial home to make it more "cottage-y" too! 🤗 Thank you for all of your beautiful videos!!!! ❤ Wonderful work!
Your cottage is beautiful! You’ve done a wonderful job on a ugly house, I would be scared to take on a project like that at my age but you did it! Kudos to you and your husband.I absolutely love the stone pathways through the gardens, so dreamy🥰 I think it would be nice if your gutters were painted copper, it would add a bit of pizzazz!
Greetings from IN !! I absolutely love your charming cottage! I use to feel put down when people would say Oh you live in the small house But now I say right away I live in the cottage, makes me feel so much better !! Do you feel putting pretty fabric awing over two small windows facing west would still be cottage like ?? thank you for sharing you lovely home!!
England and France have historically not been as warm as we are, but they are seeing some climate change. I suspect they would consider awnings if they had to deal with our heat! Western sun can be brutal. Go for it.
Lovely you both did a great job ,Yes you nailed the cottage look ,For years I’ve been wanting roses around the front door ,My husband doesn’t like thorny plants as they allways seem to attack him ,How do you deal with them ,are they thornless ? I’m in Florida ,x
Leather gloves! My son is the one who has difficulty with the thorns since he is in a wheelchair. As a result, we try to be very proactive about keeping the limbs ties up or trimmed,
Wow! What great vision you have in achieving all the goals you set for you. It is definitely a cottage beautiful on the inside and out. The exterior invites one in and almost demands seeing the interior. The garden is an ongoing project-do you envision removing the chain link fence for iron, stone or wood? Thank you so much for this-definitely worth watching more than once!
You and your husband did an excellent job transforming your home into a beautiful cottage.
Thank you
Your vision and execution is exquisite.

What a wonderful transformation and thank you for sharing it! All of it; so very lovely and inviting! 🌿🌸🌿
Beautiful as always!! I think a garden video in sections would be easier for us, the viewers, to absorb, and easier for you to film and edit
Thanks for your input!
Love your cottage and wouldn't change a thing! Please share your garden additions in small doses so we can take it in a little at a time! Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know!

I absolutely love your home. It looks like it has always been there just as you have it. It’s timeless
Not that I don't care what you're talking about, because I do love gardening and interiors, but I fall asleep every video. Your voice is so soothing

Thanks so much for sharing a great little video about making a cottage, turning our little homes into a cottage homey and full of beauty
Fabulous transformation! You have such a charming cottage now.
You certainly did achieve your goal. Masterfully.
2015! You've done a lot to it in a relatively short time. You have lovely taste.

Oops, I thought you were in Alexandria, you’re in Arlington?
But I'm super close to Alexandria and a total Mexican food snob. I've already looked them up and will go!
Very Charming ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Wonderfully narrated too ! Love your video! OUTSTANDING job👏👏👏🌺🌺🌺🌸

I love copper gutters! We are due a new roof in the next few years, which means new gutters. The cost would probably break the bank.
Your home is lovely!
I looove English cottage look
