Lynsey, love the garland, it brings back fond memories. The doubled tartan plaid wrapping paper is a great idea. We made our garland at school, with red and green construction paper. Does anyone remember using thick white school paste? It resembled lard and had a very distinctive odor. We were all warned not to eat it, but there was always one kid in class who had a 'taste' for adventure, LOL! I would leave Santa as is, but you could test a color restoration by using pastel chalk. TFS.
Ours came in an industrial size container. The teacher would spoon it out on a scrap of paper, and each student had their own supply to use, or eat, LOL!
You can darken red or pink vintage paper or cardboard, such as your Santa, by brushing on a little red or pink facial blush. For different colors, you can use powdered eye shadow. Just brush on and use your finger to work the powder in. This method can be easily blended to achieve the color you want. I work at a Victorian house museum and this is how we restore our antiques. We often use this method on pictures that have faded or have scratches. Note: this method only works on paper or cardboard that has a dull finish. It will not work on anything that has a shiny or glossy finish.
The mix of artificial and real greenery looks fantastic, Lynsey! Love the homemade bells! I found a set this summer at the Salvation Army, and I can't wait to use them in my Christmas decorating. Looking forward to Part 2!
My grandparents had the same old cut out Santa. It was always next to the fireplace every Christmas. I don’t know whatever happened to it, but I wish it was mine. I love the way the bells turned out. They are perfect for the mirror and will not scratch it. I usually add live greenery to my artificial advent wreath. It does make a difference. I will be decorating next weekend. My porch needs a good cleaning and Christmas decorations! You’ve given me some fabulous ideas! Thank you Lynsey! Have a great week!💓
The front door entrance is wonderful! Love all the greenery! It’s going to be my inspiration for decorating my front door! My favorite (and super easy) way to decorate my containers for winter is to mound some soil, dig up moss from around the yard and press it into the mounded soil, then sprinkle mini pine cones on top. The moss gets moved to my fairy gardens in the spring. Can’t wait to see what’s next! 🌿❤️🍃
Thank you Lynsey for starting this Saturday with your Christmas Magic ❤️💚❤️. Using the greens and branches from your backyard is genius, your simple crafts are always Winners! I sincerely hope your family continues with your creative fun & ideas.🎄❤️🎄 Have a wonderful week, see you for Part 2. 👏👏🎄👏👏
Great idea for making the bells! You have a wonderful creative mind! Beautiful touches with mixing the real and artificial greens! More bang for the buck!
those red seed pods you put around the door are sweet sumac seed pods. If you find white ones don't touch them, they will give a rash like poison ivy they are called poison sumac.
You’re decor is gorgeous! For your vintage paper Santa, I’d go over him completely with a matte decoupage! Dab some behind the edges that are pulling up and that will stick those areas back down! This would preserve that piece for years to come! Oh that Santa is a treasure! I’m a vintage collector and I’d love to find one like him!
@@Sword_and_CrownLynsey is great at Me too! Lynsey is great at what she does. I've always said 'I wonder what that clever Lynsey will think of next?' 😀

Your home is LOVELY! I would have never guest those bells were crafted! Luv ole Santa! Outside greens beautiful! Just luv the thistle stems tucked in! (Maybe the red is sumac???) Thank you!❤

What lovely memories, we also used to have one strange boy who always ate the white glue 🤣 we used to paint it on our hands and peel it. 🤗🎄❤️
You must be talking about the paste that smelled like mint? In little glass bottles?
@@paulette6365 I remember it was white paste and it dried clear. We would spend ages peeling it off our hands. It was so much fun
