You've done very well with your purchases and sales/part exes over the years. In my experience, the Hondas and BMWs suffered the least depreciation and repair costs during my periods of ownership. The Suzukis, now that's another story altogether😢. Glad you didn't include the restorations in your calculations, as, if they were anything like my Trident Sprint, it cost me more to replace defective parts, than it cost to buy the bike initially😮. Thanks again for another thought-provoking video.
Yea I probably agree with your observations. Oh yes restoration work is very expensive, but I guess it's satisfaction element that spurs us on. Not sure what price you put on elbow grease also 🥴.
Hello from Russia.I own a 2012 VFR 1200.This year, I have invested as much money as possible in a motorcycle, about $ 3,000. The motorcycle service was diagnosed and fully serviced.A lot of work has been done on all systems of the engine, brakes, and front fork. The motorcycle was repainted, covered with a protective film, and the gimbal, tires, and brake pads were replaced.Prices for motorcycles are very high now, even for old ones.Due to the high cost of spare parts, for example, we make front brake discs at the factory. And you know, the quality is decent.
@@Acthungbaby Indeed, and I guess that was the inspiration for my channel, I was the surprised that generally, it didn't get the recognition it deserved 👍
The vfr1200 is a very undervalued bike had one that v4 unicam motor is an absolute peach mega grunt slick gearbox and character Brakes very powerfull suspension was a bit of a compromise but a new maxton shock and revalve/resprung forks transformed mine.
Yeah graham i have not done bad over the years not really lost much either like you say new bikes are way to much now and my view is you dont need the newish tackle when older bikes are just as good but at the end off the day we buy bikes to ride them and enjoy them .
@@andyrawlings5369 Yes even if I had lost a lot over the yrs, I wouldn't be too bothered, if you really like a bike then buy it, even if you take a hit, on a trade in. Indeed, enjoying the bike is the main thing 👍
Buyimg a new bike sadly out of the question for me, so like yourself it's a case of keenly watching what's available in the used market. You're a canny man achieving such numbers.
There's ONE real take away from all of this. Bikes are WAY cheaper in the UK than in Canada. And we get a fraction of the riding time. Okay, it's only -30 C here today, so I'll just dream of riding. Quick question though, based on the deprecation value alone, what has been your cost per mile? (I could figure it out, but I'm too cold to run an Excel sheet)
Note: flick to 5 mins 18secs for summary of depreciation costs. apologies for audio drop early on 😕

@@StuartLaw-y5h Cheers, and thankfully, there's still some cracking used bikes out there 👍
