Al Pacino monologue in Scent of a Woman court scene was so good. No wonder he won the Oscar. Viola Davis in Fences…so much emotion and passion in that scene is so beautiful and heartbreaking
@@the_glitter_is I watched a show or maybe it came with the DVD but the speech wasn't scripted they just told him what the speech was about and he ad-libbed the whole speech. I think knowing that makes it better
Four from the classics of drama because its totally ignored in this list . Lets try Laurence Olivier in Hamlet's Soliquay, Katharine Hepburn in Lion in Winter "Oh yes my piglets, we are the origins of war!" Judith Anderson in Medea, the Jason Monologue, and my personal favorite from A Raisin in the Sun 'when you measure a man..."
You can not deny how well written Queen Ramonda's monologue was in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever since that monologue could've won her the Oscar or Golden globe.
*_"I just want to tell you all how happy I am to be back in the studio making a picture again! You don't know how much I've missed all of you. And I promise you I'll never desert you again; because after Salome we'll make another picture and another picture. You see, this is my life! It always will be! There's nothing else! It's Just us... and the cameras...and those wonderful people out there in the dark!...All right, Mr. DeMille. I'm ready for my close-up."_* -Sunset Boulevard
IF YOU EVER DO A LIST FOR TV SHOWS, please list the one from the 80s sitcom Night Court. There was a great monologue in the episode where Harry's dad is up for a sanity hearing.
i've seen blade runner a bunch of times. i never could get into it. didnt see the big deal EXCEPT for rutger hauer's monologue at the end gets me every time.
Grandpa Joe : Mr. Wonka? Willy Wonka : [pointedly ignoring him and Charlie] I am extraordinarily busy, sir. Grandpa Joe : [tentatively] I just wanted to ask about the chocolate. The-the lifetime supply of chocolate, for Charlie. Wh-When does he get it? Willy Wonka : He doesn't. Grandpa Joe : Why not? Willy Wonka : Because he broke the rules. Grandpa Joe : What rules? We didn't see any rules, did we, Charlie? [Charlie shakes his head briefly] Willy Wonka : [springs up from his chair, angrily] Wrong, sir! Wrong! Under section 37B of the contract signed by him, it states quite clearly that all offers shall become null and void if - and you can read it for yourself in this photostatic copy: [grabs a magnifying glass and reads] Willy Wonka : I, the undersigned, shall forfeit all rights, privileges, and licenses herein and herein contained, et cetera, et cetera... Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera... Memo bis punitor delicatum! [slams the contract copy and the magnifying glass down, continues shouting] Willy Wonka : It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal! You stole fizzy lifting drinks! You bumped into the ceiling which now has to be washed and sterilized, so you get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir! [turns back to his work]
Oprah Winfrey should've won Best Supporting Actress for "The Color Purple"! I also wish "The Color Purple" movie musical was done differently. Like having Steven Spielberg directing it instead of the remake of "West Side Story", not shorten the songs, fix up the storytelling and production, include more songs from the stage version like "Too Beautiful for Words" and "African Homeland", have some different casting like Cynthia Erivo as Celie and Jennifer Hudson as Shug Avery and have that win Best Picture for 2021. That way both "Out of Africa", another movie I love, and "The Color Purple" could both be Best Picture winners for two different years!
From "The Congress" (2013) - Harvey Keitel's manipulative speech to Robin Wright while she's in the image scanner is absolutely spellbinding (and chilling).
A friend of mine actually used a portion of that monologue for an audition for a play earlier today, and whatdaya know, she got a callback. I also learned it was 8 minutes! Wow!
Toni was awesome in that movie. It's been a while since I've seen it. All I remember is that I was satisfied or not satisfied with the ending. I guess I should rewatch it!
The fact that network isnt number one and that people seem to have forgotten how excllent this movie is makes me as mad as hell and im not gonna take this anymore
I knew Al Pacino’s monologue in “Scent of a Woman” would be somewhere in the list, it’s iconic….and that and the tango scenes are pretty much the only ones people remember from the movie. 🤩
As great as Peter Finch's monologue was in "Network", I'd replace it with a later monologue form the same movie. Ned Beatty's "reading the riot act" to Finch's character was masterful and devastating. Beatty was nominated for "Best Supporting Actor" for what was about 4 minutes of dialogue, and maybe 15 minutes total screen-time. He lost to Jason Robards for "All The President's men", which I think was a bit of one final nose-snub to Nixon from Hollywood -- deserved to be sure, but it was not one of Robards' better works. Beatty's, however, may have been a career best. ruclips.net/video/yuBe93FMiJc/видео.html
I love Emma Stone's performance in Birdman and her monologue in that scene was my favourite from her. Usually, I take the side of the parent, but here I am on Sam's side completely. I mean, she right on the mark with her father's disillusioned position in life.

"You can handler the truth" is one of thd best scenes ever, both Cruise and Nicholson did an amazing job.
I remember the first time I say that clip of the movie. Sent shockwaves down my spine.
I know you showed it at the end, but I do think Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird should have been on the list. Absolutely gut wrenching.
Viola Davis's performance in fences is on another level. One of my favorite Oscar wins .❤️
“You can’t handle the truth!” No other 90s monologue hits harder than that.
I'm so delighted that Viola Davis won an Oscar, her incredible performance in "Fences."
So powerful and so sad.
Al Pacino monologue in Scent of a Woman court scene was so good. No wonder he won the Oscar.
Viola Davis in Fences…so much emotion and passion in that scene is so beautiful and heartbreaking
Robert Shaw in Jaws, my all time favorite!!
Oh shit yes!
@@the_glitter_is I watched a show or maybe it came with the DVD but the speech wasn't scripted they just told him what the speech was about and he ad-libbed the whole speech. I think knowing that makes it better
@@debbiemclaughlin3214 It's incredible that some actors can pull it off like that. What he said probably came from somewhere deep within him.
@@TheJuiciestFruit I agree!! I wish I had just a tiny bit of that talent. 😎
Diary Of A Mad Black Woman Steal show and the monologue was pitch perfect and was awesome movie 🎥🍿
America Ferrera’s monologue from Barbie should have been here. Also I’m surprised you didn’t use Taraji’s monologue from Hidden Figures.
Great selections and so many more. Quint from Jaws, Mona Lisa from My Cousin Vinny, and I’m sure there’s tons more.
Angelina Jolie's Girl, Interrupted chicken dad monologue.
*"you cant handle the truth"*
Matthew McConaughey’s closing speech in A Time to Kill is pretty memorable.
Yes, the one that out did the parole board speech from Shawshank.
In my opinion the monologue from Sir Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the lambs was brilliant

Im so surprised the end monologue from Joker isn't on the list
Major credit to the writers for writing these monologues and to the actors for brilliantly delivering them
King Kong ain't got Sh*t on Me! - Training Day (2001)
Hidden Figures, A Few Good Men, and The Help are great movies with equally great monologues.
I'm disappointed that Renée Zellweger's monologue from Down With Love wasn't mentioned!
How could you overlook Quint in "Jaws" or Sam the Lion from "The Last Picture Show"?
What about I work like a dog day and night from hidden figure.
That’s my favorite monologue
IF YOU EVER DO A LIST FOR TV SHOWS, please list the one from the 80s sitcom Night Court. There was a great monologue in the episode where Harry's dad is up for a sanity hearing.
I *loved* the monologue by Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men! It was awesome!
i've seen blade runner a bunch of times. i never could get into it. didnt see the big deal EXCEPT for rutger hauer's monologue at the end gets me every time.
This better include _My Cousin Vinny_ somewhere
Yes❤
Mia Goth's 7 minute monologue in Pearl is an amazing work of art.

Totally missing Alec Baldwin in ‘Glengarry Glen Ross.’ Those 7 minutes are why the movie is so memorable
Yes! "Third place is you're fired."
Yep.
If you’re going to include Hidden Figures on this list, Taraji P Hanson’s speech should be here too.
From "The Congress" (2013) - Harvey Keitel's manipulative speech to Robin Wright while she's in the image scanner is absolutely spellbinding (and chilling).
Not all movies are most popular though
Robert Shaw. Jaws. Glaring oversight in my opinion.
I’d beg to differ: The “Women Speech” monologue from Barbie is moving and spot on! Definitely one of the best!
It may not be from an Oscar-winning film, but Pacino’s monologue as the devil in The Devil’s Advocate is epic.
Are you only doing Oscar nominated films? Cauae Mia Goths monologue in Pearl was brilliant!
A friend of mine actually used a portion of that monologue for an audition for a play earlier today, and whatdaya know, she got a callback. I also learned it was 8 minutes! Wow!
Happy monday afternoon, Samantha, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
Morgan Freeman's monologue near the end of The Shawshank Redemption is truly memorizing!
Brian's essay at the end of The Breakfast Club.
Mia Goth’s 8 minutes monologue in Pearl, that is just heartbreaking.
Toni Collette in Hereditary (2018)
Toni was awesome in that movie. It's been a while since I've seen it. All I remember is that I was satisfied or not satisfied with the ending. I guess I should rewatch it!
The fact that network isnt number one and that people seem to have forgotten how excllent this movie is makes me as mad as hell and im not gonna take this anymore
The list is top notch
LOL, so many great movies that have been forgotten.
So perfect!
Why so serious? - The Dark Knight (2008)
Magnolia
Surprised to not see Mia’s monologue in Pearl.
I would’ve put the coffee pot monologue from Hidden Figures instead of ‘the first’ monologue by Janelle
Batman The Killing Joke. The Joker.
Denzel Washington’s Plymouth Rock monologue in Malcolm X
Emma stone
Shirley McCain in Terms of Endearment!!!
2024 Is The COMEBACK YEAR For Disney!!
Get busy living or get busy dying - shawshank redemption.
Um America Ferrera from Barbie???
George C. Scott
Impotence monologue
The Hospital
Be the first is my fave monologue
Honorable mention Denzel in TRAINING DAY "KING KONG AIN'T GOT S#@T ON ME"
I knew Al Pacino’s monologue in “Scent of a Woman” would be somewhere in the list, it’s iconic….and that and the tango scenes are pretty much the only ones people remember from the movie. 🤩
"Barbie" deserves an honorable mention.
Pearl deserves being this list
Girl you forgot “Tears In Rain”, which has its own wiki page
"we don't write poetry because is cute "
the birdman monologue isnt that great. Emma Stone is overacting way too much. Every facial expression is exaggerated as hell.
2nd
Ben Johnson

Where is "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia!" from Designing Women? 🤣
The boogers add the extra drama
Halo, where is Hong Chau in Downsizing????
Why didnt you let the monologues in?
1st ⚜️
I AM YOUR MOTHER monologue from hereditary not being on here proves the downfall of watchmojo
That Scent of a Woman monologue is the lowest point in a terrible movie. It's despicable. No idea why it is on this list
I love Emma Stone's performance in Birdman and her monologue in that scene was my favourite from her. Usually, I take the side of the parent, but here I am on Sam's side completely. I mean, she right on the mark with her father's disillusioned position in life.
Gregory Peck. 🫡
