I would have lost my mind if I came back from a work trip to find two children in my home without agreeing to it.

Wow, that moment when Jack said he felt like a stranger in his own home must have been heartbreaking. It’s tough when two people want different things for their future.

I’m only a few minutes in and this story is already sad. I’m glad it had a good outcome though

Absol-fucking-utely . Adoption is ridiculously important of a subject to not talk about. Loyalty to protect children is important but you can not force your significant other to accept it without complaint

    Fabulous story.
I was so pleased that your husband was open to the idea of taking in your niece and nephew. I was pleased NOT to hear that "I ain't raisin' some kid that ain't mine" like some stories.

There was so much luck involved. OP made a decision that wasnt life changing but an entirely different life all alone. The husband was informed not consultet and asked. Basically she flipped a coin with the chance of ruining everything. Yes the kids really needed them. But you can only give what you have more than you need for yourself. What about the grandparents? Or uncles and aunts from the fathers side? Nothing is mentioned

As the wife and also daughter of a truck driver, I can tell you, it can be very hard and lonely. I know how OP was feeling. It was wrong of her for the way she made the decision, but he also has to understand he's not there to help her with their child. And, from what she's saying, when he is there, he doesn't have much of an interaction with their son. Glad this had a good outcome though.
