Archivstall actually fucked up for me, wasn't formatting my boot position correctly. Had to do it by hand, and I'm glad i did. Learned a lot in the process. And that's kinda the point: learning how Linux works.
I'm a Gentoo user. I'm currently making a list of the addresses of every user of Pop! OS and Manjaro. If you're one of them, know that I'm coming for you, and unless you learn Rust, install Gentoo or Arch and turn into a femboy(this is automatic once you complete the other 2 steps), you will not survive.
@@pcpudfmThere are only a few arch commands you need to know. "sudo pacman -S", " sudo pacman -Rns", "pacman -Ql", "pacman -Qs", " sudo pacman -Syu". If you use AUR and use yay you pretty much only need to know "sudo yay -Ss".

People complaining about modern Windows, this Distro or that... What would do they do if they had to figure out how to make a DOS boot disk without any internet access, no guides, etc... just to fix the boot loader and to reinstall DOS, not even Windows 3.1 or OS/2 just so you can get back to playing and or modding DOOM? I digress, even that wasn't too bad. Go back a little before that during the days of having the BASIC interpreter and trying to get Organ Trail to run.
I was already tired of figuring out the constant software center crashes, and just using the terminal, to then go and have to troubleshoot the hybrid graphics with an hour videos, truly liked the experience but setting it up is just annoying

So how is that Pop-OS working for you? 371dbx firmware update borked the entire PC system leaving me to think it had fried all my components without the ability to boot back up. And everything i find on the matter is a litany of self enamored intelligencia about dual booting w/windows & trouble shooting but no comprehensible 'Solution Tutorial' or fix with the explanation of how POP_OS systemd installation works and can be restored🙃 You know the kind of thing that gives Linux a bad rep. Any help is appreciated, I may not have a month to read and learn all the ins & outs of POP_OS. Thank you
Arch is great, don't get me wrong, but side effects may include: inflated ego and the involuntary compulsion of saying you use Arch Linux. You can also smell the average Arch fanboy a mile away.

Look i tried arch first it wasnt my fault the documentation i was following skipped a step making it not work upsetting me to the point after multiple failures i switched to pop os and it worked on my first try and booted after updating unlike cinnamon (not blaming the OS just the documentation around most of them is a lil scattered and assumes you know every in and out of their terminal and its requirements. Im quick on uptake but not that quick XD)
1. install most software using a package manager (you can use package managers on windows too but they're not as good) 2. customize your desktop to however you want and change desktop environments 3. be able to read the source code of most software those are 3 things that you can do on linux that you can't do in windows

I got a custom PC recently and form some reason xserver was crashing on me everytime I logout.Even after troubleshooting a whole day it broke my grub.Using pop os now.Will do a custom debian install or arch based installation after a couple weeks.Missing the AUR :(.
If you still havent changed OS. Then give fedora a go, it has COPR which is similar to the AUR. Or if you ever want a program from arch, while wanting a stable OS base. Then use docker to install Arch while having your OS be something like kubuntu. You can then install anything from arch and use it like a native program with all the benefits of fast updates and new features, while keeping a stable OS.
Arch is the ONLY Linux OS that ive gotten everything to work flawlessly. Its my main OS. I love my Arch distro ❤ Honestly its like lego, or building your own pc, building an engine etc.
POPOs is trash, i just tried it going from linux mint, I spent 2 hours trying to get my lenovo Bluetooth keyboard to connect, no dice, the lenovo mouse connected fine tho. I tried the terminal and even installed blueman lol, nothing. In 2024 there are so many amazing Bluetooth devices, and there is ZERO excuse to me to use a distro that cant simply work with bluetooth.

You could just connect to the internet, do pacman -Syy, then do pacman -S archinstall and you’d be using arch after doing some settings.
