Hey Nic. Thank you for uploading these videos. I don't have any interest in this field but I've been watching your videos the past few weeks and they are pretty entertaining and I also get to learn something new! 🙂
you should pull the loop off the panel for the zone you are working on. You said "I should have brought a meter." Yes if you were wearing a tool pouch it would be easier. You need a tone generator to mark your loops. and use the 2 way radios more.
Are there local codes requiring a sprinkler system in your area? The National Building Code of Canada doesn't require a sprinkler system for a small building the size of 1 portable classroom (A2 occupancy less than 400 m^2).
Takes alot to undo the miss wired porter cabins, if it don't work try a bigger and see if problems go away, which it's not a good practice. You done your best to rip out old and altered wires that's been moved or modified over the year's that should result from false alarms, then you can relable the fire panel to correct settings so any caretaker or engineer knows what triggering or fault finding.
Probably not I don't know enough about PA systems. No most are not power over Internet often times they use data cable and data connections into a switch but that switch is a amplifier
I've always had a ton of interest in the inner workings of those systems. I know that my schools intrusion alarm is tied to the PA as well, should it trigger the same long chime tone is produced through the system. Do the fire alarm relay and intrusion system connect to a simple panel in the office or is there usually a large rack system that it is all connected too? You're answering all my long time questions!
@@djahries it's only a couple new schools that have connection to the fire alarm and in those schools it's done by a relay module tied in to rackmount amplifiers that use data connection to the speakers
can different panels have different resistor’s or is there a standard ohm rating, and can the resistance needed be changed in the panel HMI or is its set into the motherboard RAM?
Different panels from different brands and even panels from the same brand all use different resistor values sometimes different circuits on the same panel will use different values too
You really could do with a remote annunciator/control panel over where the portables are. Sees like a complex way to have all those modules rather than have a fully addressable system.
They could've made the portables addressable though there wouldn't be much benefit for small individual buildings if they did go addressable they would still require the same amount of modules anyways as you have to isolate each one

Excellent video Nic, very well doucumented from beginning to end BUT....Is that a black widow under that deck there? From the looks of things looks like most of the components (communications, security, fire alarm) were pretty well labeled cause with portables it's never about "IF" they'll be moved but when.
Because you can't set the system off from working on the nac's and you'd have a trouble if it's disabled and you'll have a trouble if you're working on it so it's the same thing either way
@@nics-systems-electric makes sense I was just thinking since you guys were so concerned over people freaking out should the bells have gone off that you would’ve done that
"Good evening, @NIC's Systems And Electric, from Corwin09_USA. After a shortwhile, TWO of your schools, both an Elementary and a Middle School was leaked?! No way! Viewers, beware!"
Well, with both an elementary school and a middle school in your district leaked on Google Maps, it is only your secondary school and your house is leaked on Google Maps!

Hey glad you enjoy
I have always wanted to see how this is done!
Just wait till next week's Saturday upload wear these things get moved!
19:40 “it looks scary in there” cmon Nic, don’t scare the kids lol.
Nice video though! I really like these longer maintenance type videos.
Lol I told him when I went out it's not scary just hot as hell in there

I personally don't like wearing tools you can't just pull off the loop of what you're working on when it's an addressable system with just one loop

Yes each municipality has its own requirements and they want them sprinklered in my municipality so if you go 5 km the other way it's not required lol
Good work. Nice video. Cheers

Seems like every time y’all work at this school there’s always something messed up and the job ends up more complicated than it should be. Hahaha
Pretty much
Would you ever do a video regarding a schools PA system and the programming/wiring of them? They're all power over ethernet based correct?

How would I upload/send you a video so I can get your insight? I think you'd be interested in hearing what I mean.

4:31 middle panel for DSC, is that a zone expander for all the portables?
Yes the portables have their own alarm system

Just curious while you were working on the alarm system why didn't you disable the NACS?

This was the same school with the mislabel shenanigans, right?
If so, those are 2 less portables that the system can fuck up.
Yes the school has some challenges to the electrical system

Hey Nic I love your vids❤ And I want to tell you that I made a emergency light 💡 😊
Thank you and that's cool
