Maybe I have an unpopular opinion, but I really liked DMC4's gothic/spooky aesthetic. Dante's overalls are made of a fabric of what a vampire would use and he moves kind of like a ghost... Plus all the surroundings have cathedral-like glasses, stones and textures. I really like it... Feels a little castlevania-ish. Doesn't mean DMC5 is worse, but they went for a more modern atmosphere, which is cool but used in many recent games. But the graphics are definately better though, obviously.
Agreed. The atmosphere and setting of DMC4 feels so much more memorable to me too. I wish dreadnought mode was more practical for how amazing it looked.

The sound effects would hit a lot harder if he actually looked scary, or even remotely cool in DT. He just palette swaps lmao. It's such a big missed opportunity. Can you imagine if they actually made two separate forms for Angel and Demon modes? An Angel Trigger and a Devil Trigger that do different things? How sick would that be. Or hell, combine the two into one hybrid design, kinda like Nero's in DMC5 which looks like a mix of Angel and Demon. So many different ways you can make a Nephilim Devil Trigger interesting, and they went with anti-gravity colour swap.
DMC on its own isn't a bad game. The only thing bad when it was made was capcom executives thought the franchise needed a reboot when it doesn't. People still love the original franchise and no one ask for it to die and to be reboot but capcom thought it was necessary and DMC was created. It's not a bad game it's just that gamers want the old Dante back that's all.

Vergil considers humans as an inferior thing that must be protected from everything even by themselves but with tyranny and a dictatorship, while Dante wants freedom for people knowing that they have nothing to do with humans and that it is not up to them to decide how people have to live (sorry if my english can be awful)

The chronological order is random and you have to figure out which game comes first and it is never explained what happens between one game and another. It's always the same story where without Vergil Capcom doesn't know what to invent. It's already been recycled three times not counting the reboot where Vergil is the final boss in two games
i'd say the way that the story was told was great but the story itself was really cringe level design was good there was character development and ups and downs in the story some twists here and there combat was really lovely ( not taking into account the colored enemies )
i remember the only times i'd use DT in DmC were the times i needed the invincibility frames. it was really not as practical and awesome as other DMC games. they really messed up DT. you can platform better by being able to jump more and air trick more in 4, you get increased attack power and altered moves like more aggressive kick 13. but what do you get in reboot ? a useful invincibility frame and thats it. nothing else
It's because of how they changed Devil Trigger. Taunting was used to build a good amount of DT meter in combat. In the other games DT was strong but never felt straight up overpowered. You'd use it all the time turning it on and off as you see fit. DmC made it the strongest thing in his whole kit. Popping up enemies into the air unable to do anything. Which would've made taunting overpowered. It's one of the many reasons I dislike DmC

Plus reboot dante has ties to the 'devil' because the term 'devil' usually represents satan and that he can look like a human while possessing his actual form such as his evil eyes but the reboot was going to go the reverse and so in the reboot you can see dantes progression when he uses it too much and is starting to form white hair, in the sequel his DT wouldve evolved and looked how original dante wouldve look like but obviously with its own design in which you can find fan arts of how donte wouldve looked like

Dmc is a good game with a good plot, but it just doesn’t hold up against the devil may cry series imo. It should of just been a separate game in general, that way it would of been more appreciated.
Dreadnought mode. At level 4 Royal guard you could use the Royal guard energy to transform into that mode which made you invulnerable. DT on top and you were a monster.
Taunting is a mechanic. In lots of Japanese Games Taunting has actual gameplay functions. In DMC it builds a chunk of Devil Trigger. But in the reboot DmC:DMC they made DT intentionally overpowered which made taunt redundant as the entire structure of the system is revamped to be a screen clear super rather than and interesting combo modifier.
DmC Dante Devil Trigger and the Shin Devil Trigger seem to be in same boat with it comes to bloodlust. Like Khorne is whisperimg into their ears filling the full of rage.

DMC dante compared to dmc 4 and 5 dante, the combos are slower and shows that this dante is a bit more inexperienced in combat, which i can appreciate. wouldn't mind a possible sequel down road, lol. even though i fuckin LOVE dmc5 and thats the GOATED game.

Hey! You forgot that in dmc 5 Dante’s balrog has 2 forms. 1 the boots that we saw and 2 for the arms. To switch between them you just need to press R1+left joystick back+triangle (if on controller, I don’t know on pc)
I will say this, for me personally, Dante from the remake looks somehow weak against the background with Dante Of 4 and 5 parts, and his sword style is equal to my stick style as a child.
i like DmC combat more the two other due its mix swap weapons on mid combo and smooth animation. actually i played DMC4 and i like it but i dropped DMC5 in middle of the game

If you want grounded and realistic, avoid Devil May Cry. Sorry buddy, but the fans prefer the series to be fun and super anime. Reboot only happened because the guy who made the failure known as Mighty No.9 was in charge of Capcom at the time, and he deiced that Capcom should reboot and Westernize their franchises. It's a great game. Devil May Cry has been my favorite franchise since I played the first one. And I was introduced to the series by way of DMC2. Worst game in the series, but as an introduction it got me hooked. If I can appreciate DMC2 there's no way DmC is a bad game, or even a bad DMC when DMC2 exists.

The story is shit for a DMC game, characters personalities were dogshit, Dante's outift looked too punky compared to the original. Gameplay is meh compared to DMC3 and DMC4 at the time. While there are good stuff like weapon designs, graphic improvements, level design, it had more bads than its goods. And the fact that Ninja Theory themselves think that their iteration of the two brothers and their story are the best, while also dunking on the fandom and whole franchise adds fuel to the flames. Its not bad, its just not good compared to the other games minus DMC2

Hey! You forgot that in dmc 5 Dante’s balrog has 2 forms. 1 the boots that we saw and 2 for the arms. To switch between them you just need to press R1+left joystick back+triangle (if on controller, I don’t know on pc)
I kinda like dmc 4 devil trigger like dmc 5 main difference is the colour stand out a bit more colour where dmc 5 more faded red and black

gameplay-wise, DmC is a decent game, but not a good DMC game overall. The story, the atmosphere, the acting are just too hollywood-ish.
DMC 3 is the best of them all, no unecessary and absurd movements, every action fits each character.
Ah the famous "I like the basic stuff" guy, you forgot that they got stronger, their powers evolve so in DMC4,5 makes even more sense.

In dmc 4 and 5, the characters are too fast and Dante's powers are really unbelievable and have a lot of effects, but the reboot of this game is more understandable, the characters are deeper, and if capcom continues making reboots, the new reboot versions are very They will be more attractive, but the fans did not give this chance to Capcom😒💔
If you want grounded and realistic, avoid Devil May Cry. Sorry buddy, but the fans prefer the series to be fun and super anime. Reboot only happened because the guy who made the failure known as Mighty No.9 was in charge of Capcom at the time, and he deiced that Capcom should reboot and Westernize their franchises. Fan response pretty much showed this was a stupid idea. DmC would have been far better received if it wasn't a reboot.

Lmao DMC4 is 10x better in terms of combat, gameplay, character designs and weapon designs. The only part DmC beats it is in the level design and graphics department.

DmC is still the best, especially about the plot, when the devils use media and government to kill the main character. That's really something new, very dark, and masterpiece. It's even similiar with the situation of real world right now. Don't change my mind.

Dmc 5 has the worst stage designs, in my opinion. Only good one being Dante and vegirls childhood home, and that's coming from someone who's modded the crap outta dmc5 and has over 100hrs worth of gameplay, and has pulled off insane vergil combos.. The main reason I don't play it anymore is because of how bland and repetitive the backgrounds look and feel

It's a great game. Devil May Cry has been my favorite franchise since I played the first one. And I was introduced to the series by way of DMC2. Worst game in the series, but as an introduction it got me hooked.
If I can appreciate DMC2 there's no way DmC is a bad game, or even a bad DMC when DMC2 exists.

@@tyjones9864 wasn't. At launch it was a buggy mess, no lock-on and is stuck in 30fps. The story is shit for a DMC game, characters personalities were dogshit, Dante's outift looked too punky compared to the original. Gameplay is meh compared to DMC3 and DMC4 at the time. While there are good stuff like weapon designs, graphic improvements, level design, it had more bads than its goods. And the fact that Ninja Theory themselves think that their iteration of the two brothers and their story are the best, while also dunking on the fandom and whole franchise adds fuel to the flames. Its not bad, its just not good compared to the other games minus DMC2
