That nice gig was played almost 20 years ago (February 7th, 2003). It's probably the Jon Lord recording that shows his skill on the Hammond in its purest form, which is why I keep coming back to it frequently. Sadly, it's already ten years since he passed, bless him.
Mr Hammond. Remember the UK music press negatively reviewing 90s (?) Purple, but singling out Jon for praise and saying that he should form a band like John Chiltern's Feetwarmers. And he did - here it is. Fantastic.
That was loong before Covid !! Things never return the elder Generations have only to say "Thanks" that we could joined a Great Time ! The Future will be yet Horrible only !
it may because they are playing in a straight rock style rhythm whereas Jimmy Smith plays it in more of a shuffle style. Unless I felt really strongly and wanted to add some constructive criticism I wouldn't bother putting a thumbs down, In fact, I never put a thumbs down, if I don't like something then I just move on,
RIP Lord ....he was the greatest keyboard player in the history of Rock
Con Brian Auger.
Loved Jon Lord. However, the Greatest title goes to Keith Emerson, who didn't even need a guitarist to play rock.
I have always liked the way jon entros this piece with riffs from the old "lazy" tune frim the "purple" days....thank you
There will be none like the Lord himself. Rest in Peace Jon
