I really don't know why Buddy does not get more credit than he does. He's a phenomenal player and definitely world class. I was listening again to his Six-string Svengali album yesterday and it's a blast. That tone he gets is like no-one else. For mega technique, I would put him in the same category as players like Johnny Hiland and Josh Smith.
I met Buddy in a Mayall concert at the Bottom Line, before it closed down. He was ( of course) a GREAT player. But even more important, he was a really kind and gracious guy. Really nice…. Wish him the best.. I cant’ believe how long ago this was. .. . I had read that he was going to do a project of his own, and I sent him a letter asking him if I could be considered as one of the players on his project. I wanted to play keyboards , harmonica and vocals. He replied !!! Sent me a letter back telling me that at that particular time, he was not leaving the Bluesbreakers, but that when he did , he’d have John on board to help ~ ~ ~. I subsequently received a letter from John, telling me that he was sorry , but he was there first. . . Hahaha. GREAT!! Great bunch of guys. I’ll never forget it !!!! Since, I’ve become a member of a group that meets online . They’re in Cornwall, England. Also a really nice group of people . . May Buddy Whittington and John Mayall keep on for years and years to come….
Thanks for sharing. I have just booked my ticket to see John Mayall and Buddy Whittington in Liverpool, England in October this year (2017). I have always loved their music but never seen either of them in concert so I am really looking forward to this.
good old Buddy...............he's coming over to England again to open for JM..........I'll be there to watch him........one of the most tasteful players around at the moment.............first time I saw him was years back in Chistlehurst , Kent........... I rushed home with his cds to try to steal as many of his riffs as I could- and still use many today...a gentleman and an inspiration......... Is he using a marshall amp back there ???? Seeing him with a DrZ Maz 18/38 made me go and buy one ! My wife moaned like hell when she found out the cost....but there are some things in life that you just have to do !! thanks Buddy.....its all your fault !!
Yes sir! Buddy is the Real Deal! We're jealous, wish we could join you at his upcoming show in England. Thanks for your comment. Glad you like what we do. Please share it! Thanks!
Can't help but note the similarities between Buddy Whittington and Johnny Hiland except Hiland plays a bit more country. Of course in THIS song Buddy threw in the kitchen sink of styles..a bit of SRV, Beck's Boggie and a bunch of others...

Well, they aren't Johnny W , but they are pretty good. Johnny's hideaway was twice that fast
Great Little homage to Jeff Becks boogie with the harmonics .
This kicks ass !! Thank You Gents.

BLUESNISIMO. HAPPY DAY HAPPY LIFE.

Nice.
hot stuff

Try getting that tone out of a strat! Never heard of buddy before but I like what I see here.
That Strat has such great tone. Great intro, but why play Hideaway so slow ?

They're both outstanding! And yeah, Buddy really shows off the breadth of his style here! Thanks!
@Robert Letonja Chill, his point was how versatile Buddy is.
Don't try this at home. go Buddy.
How did he do that?
I challenge anyone to find more tone or technique than Buddy has, i,ll be waiting.................
Parece ser que cambiaste a medio tono abajo casi al final. Yo al menos lo noté
Was this the Belly-God Blues Festival?
They don't snort crank anymore.
:)
SAY BUDDY SMALL AMPS GIVE YOU A SMALL SOUND.
Ha Buddy has the biggest "sound" around. Pure tone master.

Wonder if John Mayall should have said - Just slow down a little - just a little
It´s not a race
Really dislike meaningless intros.
Sad...old white men trying to play the Blues!
Just doing what they love, trying to pay the bills. Obama killed the economy.
@@knowmusicman157 Obama brought it back! Where the Hades were you in 2007-9?
Buddy's a blues aficionado, who the Hades are YOU?
Dick by name ........
Who is sad? You? I am quite happy every time I watch Buddy play.
Always appreciated Buddy and of course Mouse, would love to see some old videos of Mouse and the Traps!
Beautiful music!
