    Ubangi Stomp and Livin' Lovin' Wreck were my requests! I saw him do Livin' Lovin' Wreck in the hotel bar the previous evening, so I knew that there was a good chance he'd do it (he also did Lovin' Cajun Style in the bar, so it was almost a rehearsal for this show!).

    Saw JLL at the Imperial Room Toronto in ‘87 for a midnight show. He was exactly like this. It was a tense room. Ronnie Hawkins came on for a number and Jerry was happy at first, then suddenly not. Ronnie scooted. At one point Jerry rounded on Kenny, who stood straight up to him and Jerry backed down, grinning. May he be at rest now. I had seen him at other times when he was on form, but like us all, he was human.

    Truly remarkable. I don't know whether he was drunk or just very mellow. the band did an amazing job of keeping up with what song he was going to sing and when he was going to finish it. For me the high point was Mona Lisa. He played bits in so many different piano styles. I had never seen him do that trick with the piano lid before and I loved it when he started leaning over the piano and plucking the strings inside. What a brilliant performer, and a great showman. Who was in the band?

      He was Feelin no pain for sure. It still showcases his ability to sing anything, stuff like Rainbow” I would have said “get outa here!” He said in interviews he could sing it all. He proves it here. He interacts with his audience like no other. But his poor band must have whiplash following him on this one. His talent is limitless; he actually croons on some songs.

    I saw jerry lee in 1987 at the Holiday star theater in Indiana. Only thing I really remember is Linda Gail singing lead on the first few songs and him taking forever to come on stage. He came dancing onto the stage while they were midway thru a song. This show is unique to say the least haha. I think it's pills going on here.

    I was there close up and personal. Good show but I've seen him do better ones. I was really happy to see him in our area. Although he acted like a horse's ass being pretty drunk.

      Whatever it means "better ones", certainly he never did such an unusual one. I agree, he was not in a hard rocking mood that night.

    He's pissed, he's obnoxious - the 'joke' about Liberace is crass and cruel - but there's some superb stuff here. Calling this gig 'nice' is very odd.

    Nothing strange at all about this performance. Jerry Lee is simply drunk, which makes for a very rare and entertaining show. I would have paid 20 times the cost of admission to see this concert live.

    • @markusr7421
      @markusr7421  Год назад +5

      No, I will not agree. When he was drunk, he played completely different. See this on his 78 tour performances and also Brasil 93 or Don Lane 1980.
      He took maybe too many of his "secret" pills, as he NEVER again was in that strange mood and I saw and heard about 500 different shows from 62 to 2019.
      But I agree with you, it might have been a special night to see him doing his show live. Luckily we have the video...
