Took your advice and woke up before my family. I got so much done, but not just that - I wasn't running around like a mad woman! When my youngest woke up I so calm. I'm usually a little annoyed and frustrated in the mornings. I'm going to try tobe consistent. Please keep making videos. You are helping so many young moms like myself to belive we can be efficient and enjoy what we do inside our homes. Modern culture and society don't truly support the importance of being a mother focused on her family. Plus you show that you can be a dedicated mother and still achieve personal success if desired.
Edited to add answers to FAQs in the video: The cookie recipe makes a very large amount. We've made three batches of cookies already from this and still have some left in the freezer. You can definitely make half of the recipe, but I recommend making all of it and freezing it as I did. We use mason jars for cookies and milk and iced coffee. It's just a tradition. :) Who can recognize the first piece that is playing in the video? 😍 Also, the last three flowers seen were shot in my parents' garden. My mom has a serious green thumb. I hope you all enjoyed today's video and that it provides inspiration for you this week. Love, Jennifer
Isn't that our Chic Assigment? Elgar's Nimrod? Loved this meditative reminder to savor the last fleeting moments of a beautiful summer. I made a pineapple coffeecake last night (from homemade Bisquick, which is amazingly simple!) and tried to be present in every action and be grateful for my blessings (that's thanks to your ongoing, uplifting inspiration!) (It was delicious, BTW.) Thanks so much, Jennifer, as always, for celebrating the little passages of season and serenity with us.
I recognize it from our London Sympathy Orchestra albums; all the flowers are stunning! Your white towel set is our guest towels; the Turkish towels last best without snagging. Beautiful video once again, Jennifer. Julie 🌷
I was surprised to see you drink from the jar. I'm not a fan of this trend, I'm afraid. (Maybe because growing up poor ?). I like a bone china mug for my tea and a nice glass for my water, juice, etc. In decades to come we may look back at this trend and laugh - like having wall to wall duck decor in the kitchen in the early 1990s 😂
Beautiful! I FEEL exactly like you describe in your poem at the end.. I’m hanging onto summer but I’m also ready. For what comes next. And I’m folding laundry and preparing too! 🥰... earlier I had just finished pruning the rose bush 🌹 and I was thinking about how much I stopped to smell them this year and how blessed that makes me feel and oh how I’ll look forward to the roses again next year!! 🦋. God really has blessed us with the seasons hasn’t he?
I don't know if you've tried this for onions, you seem much more experienced than I am, but I watched a Gordon Ramsay video where he said never touch the root side of the onion until the last. Since then I haven't shed a single tear cutting onions. It's an amazing trick. Just cut from the one side and you'll be fine, then when you get close to the end with the root on, cut very quickly. I love it! Thank you for your relaxing, inspiring videos as always!
Loved this end of summer journey. It reminds me of Sarah Ban Breathnach's book "Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy" which I read daily and give copies of to all my friends. When we live life with the joy you show, all things become more relaxed and beautiful, at least some of the time. Thank you for sharing the meditative feeling and quiet comfort this outlook can bring.
Lovely words and video that left me pondering right along with you. At the end it’s as if you were reminding us to dance without saying it. I love these videos with the classical music, some family chatter, good food, earth and the sound of a typewriter. These are my fave.
Moved from California to Tennessee 3 yrs ago. I am learning to enjoy the change is seasons. I have never experienced them in California like I do in Tennessee. The fall chill is in the air and I love it! I’m looking fwd to a new season! Beautiful video. Thank you
Thank you for sharing this beautiful reflection. Particularly the cookies that were not visually perfect, but deliciously good enough. Your poem about the end of summer was also lovely! Your channel is a refuge and respite. I appreciate you.
I always enjoy seeing food plated on your Blue Willow plates. I have a set that has been passed down. New and shiny is good. But there is something about using our older things, a connection to the past, a remembering, a slowing down. Thank you for another lovely video.
What wonderful flowers you have in your garden. Yes the end of summer is always, I do not know. I have always felt a bit sad. But then autumn starts and all the excitement of a new season and all that it entails takes over.
Very pretty video, I've been feeling tiny hints of fall..Your video made me realize that I wasn't imagining those little hints. I'll try even harder now to enjoy what is left of summer. I have fall garden seeds waiting on me and my tomato plants are still blooming so I think it will be a smooth transition for this sensitive artist into fall in the south here. Thank you for a lovely video that was so sweet and feminine, and I loved your veggie dish too.
I recently stumbled upon your channel and am enthralled with its charm and beauty. Your videos are a welcome respite in a chaotic and bewildering world. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life with us. ⚘
I cried a little when I saw her dump all that cookie dough on the beater into the soapy water. I miss the times when we were allowed to lick the beaters because no one worried about raw eggs.
My children and I have eaten cookie batter for years and years. One of our sons prefers dough to the cooked cookies, so sometimes they (his 16 year old son, included) make cookies and eat the dough. We have never had any ill effects from this. We used to drink orange julius drinks with raw eggs and never had a problem either. Some folks put raw eggs in their protein drinks. :) I am not saying do this, just saying that we have never had a problem and I, also, wanted to lick that beater! ;)
@@paulajohnson7075 True. Same here. And I don't know of anyone who has ever experienced any ill effects either. But I was just thinking that the paddle could have been scraped better. Anyway, it was fun to watch.
"The best time for planning a book is while doing the dishes." I LOVE that quote! Really, it's true. We do our best thinking when we have something mundane to do and we can let our minds wander. I love your writing and your channel!
I love your video. So very peaceful. I wish summer would STOP; I am so very tired of the hot dry heat here in central Texas. Right now, it is 1:03pm as I write this note and it is 102 already and we have not had a drop of rain in more than 30 days. My poor garden has burned to a crisp. Can anyone say jealous? God bless you; your videos remind me that the heat will eventually let up and we will get a cooling down. I am a native Calif. girl; so it is hard for me to live in the heat of TX. But where my dear husband goes I will always be.
Your parting thoughts gave me a sense of peace that I will need in order to face a rather uncertain Fall. This year is so very different. I don’t know what the Fall holds for any of us, but you give me the intention to love and simply enjoy what many might call mundane. There is peace and normalcy in that intention. A sense of humor, an appreciation of nature and an awareness of our families’ inner dynamic, give me joy. Thank you.
I truly love your videos... so peaceful and inspiring!!! Onions: I find that if I cut the edges and run it under water to wash away the milky substance, I can cut in half and go about my chopping without crying anymore.
Such loveliness to behold! Your thumbnail was perfection and the many colors in your meals so beautiful. “What challenges the world did face” I’m crying, your poem spoke to my soul and I loved the blurry backdrop. Well done my friend and can I just say your pedicure is so pretty, love you🌹
"'let the repetitive nature of your everyday tasks bring you clearly into the present" I love this!!! I have read that cleaning is good for anxiety and when I am overwhelmed, I set a time for 15 minutes to accomplish a chore-my day becomes much more manageable.
Yes we do savor the last nectar drops of summer, it's always been that way for me even as a kid, perhaps summer is the most abundant season : ). Anyways, beautiful video thank you! I am ordering the same baking book that you have "Afternoon Tea" thanks !
Hello Jenniffer 😊 I love your attitude to life. It is very nice to see someone like you in these consume days. I have one extra tip for you. I hope you will like it. When you freeze your cookie dough it is easier to put it inside as a roll. You don’t have to wait until it defrost and then make cookie shapes. You will just cut the rings and you can bake it straight away. I hope you understand what I meant 😁 I hope you will find it useful. Thank you very much for day to day inspiration.
Ahhhhh another cooking and gathering from the garden video. My fav ❤️. You inspire me to start a vegetable garden next year.. The vegetable gratin looks delicious and so do the cookies. Love your poem at the end and your blue and white dress. You must sleep well in your bedroom it’s very soothing . Many blessings for your end of Summer... enjoy!
I love the musics you use, they melt my heart. Oh Jennifer, your Homemaking videos are so calming and inspiring. Thank you for that. I all your meals look delicious, btw.
Those cookies look like the kind I like -- crisp outside, chewy inside! I have a favorite tomato/pasta recipe for you using FRESH tomatoes. Vary ingredients to your taste or approximates. I use cherry tomatoes too, and I just wing it. 7 fresh ripe tomatoes, chopped 1/2 c. packed fresh basil, chopped 6 fresh garlic cloves, pressed or grated 1/2 c. olive oil 1 tsp. sea salt fresh ground pepper Put all in a bowl and let it marinate all day long at room temperature. Stir once in a while if you think of it. Serve over fresh hot buttered spaghetti or any pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. This is my favorite end of summer dish when the tomatoes are really ripening.
Your tomato plants are so healthy and green - not a blemish on the leaves. Maybe it's the humid August heat here in SC but I'd be ashamed for you to see how awful my tomato plants look!!!! Thank you for this lovely video.
Summer is ending rather quickly! Thank you for a glimpse into your life and inspuration to make our lives more beautiful, Jennifer. I love the poems you write and include in your videos. 🌹
I find you home making videos so relaxing and inspiring! I’m going to kitchen right now and I’m going to make a nice meal for my family... and I will do it with a big smile on my face 😊 thank you

I love the music you pick out for the video. It's so relaxing and peaceful. Your kitchen is beautiful! And the food so fresh and delicious looking! All your China pieces are so beautiful too!
I made the cookies this afternoon!! Absolutely delicious! So light and just right! I made my logs a bit smaller and cut them in small disks .. so yummy .. and yes, makes a lot. I froze the rest of the dough as you mentioned. Yummy!
Enjoyed this beautiful video ... made me want to be more conscious to the ending of this season & get all the goodness out of it before we transition to fall. Blessings.
I have a cookie recipe almost exactly like that from my grandfather. Try freezing it in the rolls. You can slice and bake them frozen and they make a great cookie to have on hand whenever you have an unexpected guest!
Summer is my favorite season, generally, but this one has flown by in a haze of obligations. The bright spots were my roses and tomatoes, which did wonders for my soul. Today is my birthday, and it seems a little melancholy, which may be the result of the changes going on right now and the oppressive heat we're experiencing this week... either way, your lovely video was uplifting, and I thank you.
I love the 'typed' notes ❤ So glad you returned the Boden dress - it's beautiful on you ! Your tomatoes look DELICIOUS I swear I hope haven't had a tomato with taste for decades. I love our winters in subtropical Australia - summers of day upon day of 90+% humidity kill me 🥵 Stay safe xx
Your bedroom wallpaper is absolutely beautiful and so tranquil. You made a wonderful choice. I think it is timeless and every time I see it, I am impressed with how stunning it is! 😊
Dorothea Brande's famous book also recommends monotonous task to mine one's creativity and let creative thoughts flow! I love moving meditations like walking! Someone once wrote her grandma told her whenever she faced a problem to go clean up a drawer in her room. I love that Grandma’s advice! Whenever I declutter it certainly helps me find clarity of mind. I enjoy doing monotonous tasks, because I am free to daydream while I do them. 🙂💕
Get a cookie scoop ,it works like an ice cream scoop. Scoop until all the dough is used. Bake as many for that sitting and flash freeze the rest. Put in zip lock bag. When you have company or want some cookies , pull them out and thaw and bake. Did you use butterscotch chips? I didn't see that part. This was a nice video, very relaxing to watch.
I love those clicking keys on a Monday, they're so relaxing as I work. The poem was beautiful. As hard as this fall and winter is going to be with the Coronavirus still around, I confess I'm looking forward to a change in weather and daily pace. 🧡 Stay well, Jennifer!
I'm going to try the gratin, looks delish! I think I will try adding grated cheese before putting on the breadcrumbs because my husband likes that kind of thing.
I love your beautiful videos! I've always felt called to be a homemaker, and your videos embody so much of what I desire to be! Thank you for your inspirations. Also, I have the hardest time finding beautiful dresses and skirts that are comfortable and easy to work in. Your wardrobe is so beautiful, and I'd love to know where you're shopping if you feel like sharing! Thank you!

Thank you for the beautiful and soothing video. I've been homemaking for 34 years and I've been getting weary. Prayers and love.
The water at the end…perfection. This was just what I needed today.
Beautiful!!! I love fall, but we still have over a month left of summer... let’s enjoy it to the fullest!
The air and leaves have already started to turn here in Idaho! It's fall in the morning and summer in the evening. The best of both. I love it!
It's been in the triple digits here in central CA...still the video is relaxing and enjoyable
Yes, I don't want to hurry summer!

What a beautiful poem 🌱🌿🍂🍁
Your channel and 'Fairyland Cottage' are so relaxing and inspiring.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful from beginning to the sounds of the water at the end. You so artistically captured the essence of Summers end.
Love this video! Listened to it several times while cleaning my windows. Thank you.
Lovely 💕video. Beautiful writing 👏🏻 Your channel gives me peace and encouragement. Thank you for the creativity of your videos and the inspiration 🥰
This video felt like a vacation. Thank you.
My inner child was screaming at you to stop and lick the mixer blade as you put it into the dishwater.
Not with that many raw eggs... too scared 😆

Those cookies look like the kind I like -- crisp outside, chewy inside!
I have a favorite tomato/pasta recipe for you using FRESH tomatoes.
Vary ingredients to your taste or approximates. I use cherry tomatoes too, and I just wing it.
7 fresh ripe tomatoes, chopped
1/2 c. packed fresh basil, chopped
6 fresh garlic cloves, pressed or grated
1/2 c. olive oil
1 tsp. sea salt
fresh ground pepper
Put all in a bowl and let it marinate all day long at room temperature. Stir once in a while if you think of it. Serve over fresh hot buttered spaghetti or any pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. This is my favorite end of summer dish when the tomatoes are really ripening.

I'm definitely trying those cookies!!

Have you considered adding some of your poetry to a book? Would love to read more of them.
Thank you for a lovely, although sad, video.
I love those clicking keys on a Monday, they're so relaxing as I work. The poem was beautiful. As hard as this fall and winter is going to be with the Coronavirus still around, I confess I'm looking forward to a change in weather and daily pace. 🧡 Stay well, Jennifer!
I just love fall 💗
"The solstice of our reckoning". Beautiful video; thank you for posting.
This was lovely and put me in a calm mood after a strange morning. Thank you! I wanna try those cookies.
Such a lovely video. Reminds me slightly of a Terrance Malick style. 🌸
Beautiful video love the look of that veg gratin😍 & definitely trying the butterscotch biccies ❤ lively verse Jennifer 💕
The homemaking series is so beautiful and peaceful watch. Jennifer, you should get an award for the cinematography.
It's winter's end here and I am desperate for it to be over but I'm going to change my attitude and embrace these last weeks.
Thank you!
