Exciting new chapter - I would like to know how you are managing visa issues and tax between the two countries from the perspective of being a digital nomad. It seems like a costly lifestyle, will you rent your accommodation when you are in the other country? Looking forward to hearing more about how this type of lifestyle works/how much management is involved!
Maybe as your London home is more neutral and minimalistic, it would be fun to make your NYC home bright, loud, and fun?

i'm not sure if you mentioned it, but i definitely would not keep the mattress directly on the floor, it'll be a magnet for dirt and dust and not get air circulation underneath it, making dead skin/ moisture accumulate. i'd recommend getting a super low bed frame or slats just to prop it up a little.

Love that colorful rug! I would recommend you put a couple of inches of it underneath the sofa, if you know what I mean. So the front two legs of the sofa are on the rug. It's usually more visually pleasing that way :) Also love the sofa, it's a nice calming contrast with the rug.

i immediately thought colorful pillows (pulling colors from the rug) could really make the living room feel even cozier. such a nice space.

so excited to see the process of the apartment!! Was really needing something with a new feel/experience to watch . one thing!! the bed on the floor! make sure to put something or at least some slats underneath as mould can form very quickly as hot air and humidity cannot circulate well when its directly on the floor, me and my friend found this out the hard way and were crazy sick for two weeks. the coloured tug is so pretty but i think its making it hard for you to style the room, i think a circle table will soften up some of the furniture and sit with the rug better. ps where are your paper floor lamps from?

I know people is constantly asking how can you afford to live in two beautiful cities in different continents, flying a lot and having two apartments and to be honest I don't know how you do it for good for you !!! I would definitely do it if I could and just yesterday I read a quote saying "just take as many opportunities as you can, specially when you're young" and it's very basic but it kinda stuck with me, I feel like you're definitely doing that and living your life to the fullest.
Btw I'd recommend you to put something between the bed and the rug, you can get mold and bugs.

Honestly living in New York for a while is the dream. I hope it all works out for you ❤. Re: video ideas, interiors ofc! And also maybe you out and about? Totally understand you willing not to invade your privacy, but little snippets in restaurants or museums or walks. Places you enjoy and wouldn’t mind recommending. Also style for upcoming autumn/winter. Maybe bring back the fashion report? Doesn’t have to be monthly but just things you like and want to incorporate into your wardrobe. Oh and maybe if you did an upstate trip and vlog of that! Hope to get back to New York one day and not just see the city, upstate looks unreal. Thank you!

How fun to have a place in NYC! I loved living there (in the lower east side too) for a few years way back when. You are probably aware of this but in case not, be prepared to potentially have to file US tax returns for the rest of your life now you have a visa and once you get a social security number etc. Literally forever, even if you never earn anymore money in the US after this stay.
I've lived in NY for 6 years and this is the first time I've heard about this rug law... Learn something new every day truly!

Hello Lizzy, I understand that you don't want to bother your neighbours with rugs...But I don't think this kind of giant rugs suit the flat (they are made for very huge houses...). The wooden floor is definitely a feature. You can put rugs but, in my opinion, they should be smaller and not hiding the floor. Maybe it is a Uk habit to put rug or carpet everywhere, but in many countries ( I'm French, living in Brussels) people tend to showcase the wooden floor.... You should try to walk as much as you can barefoot or with slippers in the flat to avoid noise...

I absolutely love this new part of your life. I haven't even moved past 5mn but I'm moving to NY in a month too (long time coming and been delayed by Covid). It's feeling very real now and this has made more excited, after feeling quite a bit of dread to leave friends & life in London. Would love to hear your tips, I'm also Eastish (Clerkenwell) and, having spent quite a bit of time in NY, everyone convinces me I should move to BK but I'm more tempted by the LES or downtown more generally...
