- Scientists Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman won the Nobel Prize in medicine on Monday for discoveries that paved the way for the creation of mRNA vaccines against COVID-19. Karikó and Weissman will speak at a news conference at the University of Pennsylvania.

Crazy how multiple vaccines couldn't stop one wave after another. I'm actually more sick an my immune system isn't that great anymore because of the covid vaccines. Took my body years to recover from the H1N1 vaccine.
It was known that you could still get covid but it would help you from not dying of it .

I don't like the Penn guy's statement. He always mentioned Dr. Weissman first. The initial idea came from Dr. Kariko. Also, it seemed that UPenn is shameless (the way they have treated Dr. Kariko). They may have received up to $2 billions, in 2021 and 2022, from the patent that the two doctors had accomplished.
So true...she was the one that took it to the level of a vaccine for COVID-19...I had read many a disgruntled comments from him about how she was going to be getting the credit for this work. He had some part in it but she had been working with mRNA ages before she met him ..

What happens to the pseudo uridine molecule when the vaccine mRNA is eventually broken down inside the cell?
Is it used by the cell to make regular cellular mRNA?
Does that then increase the longevity of that mRNA more than naturally intended?

Not necessarily. It's been theorised that Alfred Nobel, dynamite inventor, came up with the prizes so that he wouldn't be remembered as someone who invented something that killed millions. So a comparison could be drawn.
