    • @Allagi22

      Agreed many pop artists of today never seem to give acknowledgement to the songwriters who actually pen the lyrics, EVEN if they are frequent collaborators. Elton has ALWAYS made it clear it's him and Bernie Taupin who make these songs TOGETHER, which is commendable.

    • @ronaldcross
      @ronaldcross 5 лет назад +24

      @@Allagi22 Elton has never tried to slight Bernie as far as I know. They were a song writing team, and credited on the labels of every record and album just as Lennon/McCartney were.

    • @kamakirinoko
      @kamakirinoko 5 лет назад +3

      @@Allagi22 Well, today's (popular) music is usually an amorphous blob with the "charismatic" "singers" being on the pointy end of vast factories which churn out "hits"-look up "Max Martin" if you'd like to see what one of these "Hit factories" looks like-but the days in which an Elton and a Bernie teaming up to produce astonishing oeuvres of hundreds of titles are long, long gone.
      Like the Brill Building in the US-a ground zero of singer-songwriter, ghostwriters and jingle writers, produced such legends as Steely Dan and Tin Pan Alley on Denmark St. in London produced Elton and Bernie, although in their case it was overnight success after about three years' hard work.
      But like the era before the Internet, those days are gone forever . . over a long time ago, to quote Donald Fagen.

    I got to see Elton John play at Ischgl, Austria about 10 or 15 years ago. But this was no ordinary concert. Ischgl is a ski resort (part of the ski area is in Switzerland). He and his band played up on the mountain, in the middle of the ski area. They started with 'Funeral for a Friend (Love lies bleeding) which could not have been more perfect. The next 6 songs were exactly what I wanted to hear, so after that, I went skiing above the concert area. It was simply magic to be able to hear most of the rest of the concert from above with only a handful of skiers. Thank you Elton John for probably my favorite concert experience.....

    Elton John has done SO much music. I think quite few even heard it all. "Wonderful Crazy Night" which is his latest record is acutally fun and well-produced! It doesn't really compare in songwriting to his early 70's but I enjoy the record now and again!

    Elton you look so happy. Im so happy for you and your husband and children. I came so close to meeting you once, but it didnt happen. Worked for an airline and a woman who escorted you around, and your then manager I took to the plane. Ive seen you many times in concert. I can identify with you regarding your mother. Wish I could write and know you would be reading the letter. I missed seeing you here in NY because I just had surgery :( Wish you would come back to perform here. Reading your book, saw the movie. My heart poured out for you. I have ability to sing, and am very funny, but feel I will never become famous. I do have that spark though. The spark that lights me up when I sing and am naturally funny. So happy for you that what you love doing happened, and that you have a loving family now. Bernie sounds like an incredibly awesome man and talent. I wonder would he have liked more recognition publicly? Hoping somehow I can see you perform again sometime. Wishing you peace and thanks for all you do for AIDS Foundation!

    @3:43 actually, yes. "Scarecrow", "A Dandelion Dies In The Wind" and others were in that stack of lyrics, and they became songs. Some of those first songs ended up on the now released Regimental Sgt. Zippo album.

    Tried to play along with his records, and it was all on the black keys. It was an insight and a revelation about his unique sound.

    It’s got to be crazy to be a musician of this status. So many albums and live performances. Only few musicians have as big and successful of a career as someone like Elton.

    Got to see Elton in concert a few weeks ago for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and about a year ago on another tour. So happy I got to see him live, both concerts were amazing and a lot of it was just great rock and roll. Would be awesome to meet him in real life.

      Yes, the 70's music came in a close second to the 60's, where music changed drastically, and kept evolving into the 70's. Beatles, Stones, Doors, Motown, Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, etc.

    Wow! That was COOL! Especially when Elton traded glasses with Stephen! He’s my All-Time Music Hero, for 47 years I’ve been a HUGE fan. Grace VanderWaal is a coming in at a close second though.

    It took years for me to realize/find out that the person who sings my favorite song (Can you feel the love tonight) was him. I immediately became a fan of his.
    God, I must have rewinded that VHS tape a hundred times to listen to that song in the credits of The Lion King. What a talent and career this guy has. One word: legend.
