We took my dad to watch this movie two weeks ago. He had been sick. Two days ago, he passed away. This was the last movie he ever watched. I'm glad he did, he really enjoyed it and probably forgot about his pain for the two hours. I recommend everyone go see it, it's a beautiful movie indeed.

lazyjanetalking, just seeing your comment now. Though 3 months have passed, I would like to say I am very sorry for the loss of your dad. It's wonderful to have the memory of seeing this deeply touching, profoundly artistic and moving film with him. So glad you both enjoyed it! Most people loved the film--I personally think it's one of the very best, creative, memorable pieces of art I have ever seen. Again, sending you condolences and best wishes.

The whole movie was a pity party for Elton who is portrayed throughout as a victim. His mum and stepfather were not as bad as shown here, far from it. Also, there's very little in it about how badly ELTON treated people, particularly after he became famous.

Emma Bullerpowell indeed they should have. Elton John was the one who ran backstage after the live aid performance of Queen & was running around yelling, “ you guys stole the show!!”. Elton John had already been famous as well and probably more famous, but he was more than happy to share in the success of another performer’s successes. Elton Freddie we’re good friends anyway. I don’t think that it had so much to do that they were gay and so much that it had everything to do that both of them were incredible geniuses.

Elton is a legend and absolutely crazy!! I love his music in a different way from other musicians. He was a brilliant musician in his own right and then created another part of himself that came out in another entirety.

I saw the movie and I grew up being a loyal Elton John fan and knowing the life history along the way. I didn't expect it to look so much like a musical. Elton John is so beautiful having made many musicals. I say this could go on the stage as a musical play. The message would really resound with so many today regarding relationships, alcoholism and recovery, so much. I really loved it but I imagined it as a musical in many parts which would be fantastic on stage.

I gather George enjoyed the film. Did he ever really say his opinion? That side by side comparison of Elton and Taron in the white feather costumes is pretty amazing. I am anxious to hear the rest of the soundtrack too.
