As a former 14 yr old girl of the exact same size Stacy was, and as someone who in adulthood has worked with many 70-year old men, I believe that a certain sort of 70-yr old man could definitely overpower Someone of my former teen size.

I’m a 4’10 teenage girl and i’m definitely not petite and my 70 year old grandfather could 100% overpower me. Old blue collar or military men keep that strength a lot of the time even in their old age

Yeah, I was thinking the same. While it's obviously not as unbalanced as a teen girl vs. a man in his prime, the old guy easily still have the advantage in terms of pure strength. The girl would have the advantage in speed and endurance, but I don't think it's accurate to make a blanket statement that a 70yo man overpowering a 14yo girl is unlikely.
Of course it's still pure speculation that anything like that happened.

Dude, there are many 70+year old men that could easily over power most adult women and some adult men. Just because someone is older doesn't automatically mean they're physically weak or incapable. The term "old man strength" exists for a reason.

    • @faxenmacher4633
      @faxenmacher4633 Год назад +36

As a male nearing his prime who has done combat sports since I was 15 (13 years), I understand, yeah - there's definitely a bunch of 70 year old men who could best me in contests of raw strength.
Learn to fight - but beware that it will reduce your dating pool because it will intimidate most men. Only men who can fight better will see it as 'pretty cool' - nobody wants to be emasculated lol - alas, we don't always have the luxury of having a better fighter back us up. Best to be competent, fit.
Take comfort in this: Even a 10 year-old boy can generate the force necessary to knock out an adult male.
You'll be out-reached, so learn oblique kicks to keep range and ankle stomps to prevent chase - Very Importantly: *never kick above the belt*, if they can catch your leg it turns into a contest of strength. It doesn't favor you.
You'll also be trying to overcome a range advantage - so you'll be moving into the fire, learn to use your elbows and knees in event that you end up clinched up (Muay Thai as a foundation).
Most importantly, don't trust Women's self-defence classes, they're benefiting from the inbuilt anxiety that weirdos exist.
Learn to strike, and as much BJJ as you can (skill focused but still ultimately strength based unfortunately)
I hold this perspective because my sister in law (brother's wife) was a comptetive kickboxing and karate instructor.
This stuff scares me and my brother so badly that we've raised my little sister to be able to compete with trained fighters.
Ladies, if you have a daughter or a sister, learn to fight so you can train and spare with them yourselves.
      Good luck! 👍

We grew up across the street from one another, walked to school together, went through communion together, spent summers running around, climbing trees, catching tadpoles. All the things kids did in Saratoga in the 70’s. First of all her last name is pronounced Air-us. Her disappearance destroyed her family. Her mother died from the heartache and stress. i think this case has sadly simple answer, 1. mountain lion. or 2. the old man did something to her, but he had som me sort of immunity or power that meant he could not be prosecuted. a similar thing happened in my area, and the reporting was quite similar.
the woman escaped him during his attempted kidnapping/ attack and everyone knew it was him. the police refused to even question him and the news couldn’t publish his name.
his house was attacked and the attacker literally found her hat which he had taken from her. the police still did nothing.

I hate to tell you this brother, but as someone who does a bit of OSINT from time to time, journalists are often very lazy and just act as stenographers for the police or other orgs. Case in point: for years and years, the aurora theater shooter was associated with the character of the joker. It was believed he had dressed up as the joker, that he had some sort of mark david chapman belief about the movie and was wait8ng to be taken inside it, that sort of thing. Years later we realize this was entirely fabricated. It was made up by the cops. The shooter wore a goofy mall ninja tactical getup, one cop said "he kinda looked like a superhero" to another cop who made some assumptions. One game of telephone later and a cop is telling the press this dipshit kid was dressed as the joker and had some weird obsession with the character.
Anyway, point being: dont get too hung up on veryinor details that can be explained by literally everyone being kinda bad at their job

exactly. this kind of dumb shit happens so much when it comes to reporting and interviewing that everything needs to be questioned multiple times before anyone ever thinks that what is being reported is in fact correct. especially right after anything happens because nowadays the most important thing to the media is being first. not being accurate. and that goes for ALL news organizations. I don't care who it is. they all are in a rush to get their story out first so that they get the clicks and the ad revenue. as far as they are concerned they can put out an update a month later after no one cares any longer and no one is paying attention any longer. which means whatever schlock was reported first is what people believe to be true. and usually it isn't.

    • @mommy2libras
      @mommy2libras Год назад +19

It drives me nuts how many otherwise very decent coverage of cases gets sidetracked and distracted by "omg this is different than this report 30 years ago so WHO'S LYING AND WHY" or when some agency doesn't hand over everything with a smile it's "what are they hiding". Much reporting is piggybacking and if one report leaves out or includes a minor detail, whoever copies that does the same. But during any investigation, there are generally a bunch of reports coming out so one person excluding something that is fairly irrelevant isn't some attempt to hide facts. Another point is that witness statements can differ, not only by whoever is reporting the statement but the statements themselves can change, and sometimes quite a bit. A person gives an interview to police but then talks to a local reporter and maybe they've added something that police didn't ask about or they only give a general statement with few details.
As for some of the refused FOIA requests, this idea that they were hiding some serial killer back in the 80s and are still trying to keep it under wraps is kind of hilarious. The most likely reason is usually the one and in this case, I'd go with yes, it got filed under law enforcement but a lot of it is just gone. There was a bunch of agencies working together at a time long before information was centralized and there's probably very little "meat" to it anymore, at least without a good amount of searching. Something no one cares much to do for someone who isn't officially investigating it in the first place. In many cases, it's easier to get the info because it at least happened in one city or area, if not all fell under the same department. But the idea that the national parks service somehow - a group of thousands spread across the entire country and decades of time- is concealing the woods monster or a renegade psychopath with a love of the outdoors or that the parks service themselves snatches someone from time to time to sacrifice to mother nature makes for much better discussion.

I would understand if they withheld information based on suspicions that a crime took place but wouldn't they specify that there is/was a criminal investigation? Also handheld radios did exist back then so that's a possibility. It really is difficult to narrow down what might have happened without information like the weather data and other stuff.
I also appreciate how you don't just regurgitate what's said in the Missing 411 books and how you try to go directly to the source for information. A lot of people who talk about the stuff you do won't do that and it gives you a lot more credibility imo.

a couple thoughts I had may explain this. unfortunately as soon as he asked the question of who would take the girl I immediately thought about a young pretty blonde girl out by herself in the wilderness and that there are absolutely sick disturbed people out there who literally hunt for that opportunity and it always ends horribly for the poor girl. which means they may be refusing the freedom of information request because they do suspect a crime took place and they are being really careful about what information is released. the reasons being that if they were to find a suspect they don't want any information out to the public which they could use against the suspect during the interrogation. at that time in America there were an insane number of serial killers and rapists prowling anywhere and everywhere in this country. which brings me to the other reason they don't want any information like that to come out to the public. money. if people were to hear and think a serial killer was stalking a major national park then a whole lot of people would stay away and not visit or camp or anything which would cost the park an astronomical amount of money ahort and long term. short because no one would go while said person was on the loose. and long term because the park would then always be associated with that killer. so keep it as quiet as possible and act like everything is situation normal.

Nebraska has had mountain lions for years and tried like hell to cover it up. Game and parks wouldn't budge on it until my classmates parents got pictures of one sitting on their front porch like it owned the place. There had been cattle getting whacked and that costs the farmers dearly. I also remember a time that if you saw one you weren't allowed to shoot it, even if it was causing depredation. I'm not sure but I think that was rescinded shortly after the picture was not only sent to game and parks but circulated through the local community (high school included). Rightfully so if you ask me, that's a hard living to make.
EDIT: I'm from Clay and Nuckolls county. Said sighting was in Clay.

The neighbor thought it was odd but wasnt worried. He finished what he was doing and went home. Later he was checking game cameras he had set up and caught a picture of a mountain lion the around the time the dog freaked out. We figure the dog ran across the mountain lion. The NPS Public Information Officials are unique in their release of details to the public and the media. They are more tight-lipped. They're on-camera news updates and interviews are vague and they use circular language. We were briefed by incident officials and we left those meetings with intel contrary to what we experienced directly from on the ground personnel.

    Okay I have 4 theories.
    1. She ran away and had some supplies stuffed away somewhere else made it to a road and was randomly picked up there. I sure there are plenty of dirt road or trails and have heard cases of women being picked up, murder, and tossed miles away. Along horrible communication between law enforcement. She was never found or her body is considered a "Jane Doe".
    2. Probably the most likely one, she just drowned in the lake and her body got tangled up in some brush underneath the water. Whatever was left was eaten by wildlife and washed downstream.
    3. She was attacked by a wild animal park Rangers found her first and hid the body along with any evidence to avoid a lawsuit or bad press for not warn visitors of any possible dangers animals. But how no one else saw or heard and attacked is suspicious but not unlikely.
    4. Why was there a seemingly frail old man in the middle of the woods? The fact no one knows his name or age is weird. He probably killed her and when later interrogated gave everyone fake names and ages. When he was no longer considered a suspect booked it out town. Law enforcement didn't realize until later and to avoid the backlash of letting the killer of a 14 year old girl walk right out of custody have been keeping information about the investigation from public view.

When you hear someone being labeled as "elderly", you get an impression that they are weak and gentle with things. They wouldn't be able to do a lot of excessive physical activity. This man in his 70s was a senior but I don't think he could be described as elderly if he was on this similar trip and going on hikes. And that is weird that nothing is being released, at least I haven't heard anything that it was a possible criminal case. Instead they left it open for imaginations to take off with it. People deserve to know that it is a suspected foul play case in the least. They could've lied and said it was a bear attack or whatever if they wanted to cover up a cougar attack. This case wouldn't be on so many peoples minds today if it weren't for the withholding of information and the downplaying of that "elderly" man. It's just rotten. I wonder if this older man is a family member of someone in the Park services or the media. It's coming off that way to me. I like the saying: "That which is hidden will always reveal itself", I hope this happens soon for Stacy.

makes this an opt-in onleh feature; Makin' vanilla, plain calamity jane ol' "Electronics" hwould be's th'default, so's folks don't GOTS t'be confused bah all'a this.
Any "Dec'rated" matier'ls hwhat goes inta a vanilla product's is jus' gon' be lost t'simplicity, so's all goods c'n be brought back t'default hwhene'er a buildin' owner s'chooses!

The age dispute could be easily explained if the old man had a significant stutter. If that was the case, it could have been difficult for him to clearly state his age as a stutter could easily make it sound like he was saying he was 77, leading to the confusion.
