The Peruvian model will represent the country at Miss Grand International 2024, which will take place on October 25 in Cambodia and Thailand.
This Saturday, September 21, the Central Plaza of Punchana, in Loreto, was dressed up for the celebration of the Miss Grand Peru 2024 contest. The event brought together the most outstanding candidates in the country, who competed in catwalk and oratory tests before a demanding jury. After a close competition, Arlette Rujel, representing Callao, emerged as the winner of the pageant, being crowned by Luciana Fuster, Miss Grand Peru 2023.
In second place was Niva Antezana, from Lima, while third place went to Alexandra Parcón, from Lima Centro. With her victory, Arlette Rujel takes on the challenge of representing Peru at Miss Grand International 2024, which will take place on October 25 in Cambodia and Thailand. The new Miss Grand Peru was excited and grateful for the opportunity to carry the country's name high in the international pageant.
    Who is Arlette Rujel?
Arlette Rujel, recently crowned Miss Grand Peru 2024, is a prominent figure in the world of modeling and beauty pageants. Born on September 1, 1999 in Callao, this 25-year-old has built a solid career as a professional model, event host, and teacher at her own modeling school, located in Barranco. Over the years, she has demonstrated her talent and dedication on the catwalks, an area in which she began to venture at the early age of 13.
My mother always wanted to be a model, but she couldn't be one due to life's things. I remember that Amy Gutiérrez, the singer, lived in Gambetta and we were almost neighbors. She won La Voz Kids Peru and we found out that the Latina cameras were going to go to her house, so everyone from the neighborhood went. There was a very important person for me until now: my teacher Marco Yarleque. He told me that he saw me among the whole crowd and asked my mother if I wanted to be a model, she said yes,” recalled Arlette Rujel about her beginnings, in an interview for the RUclips channel 'Los Cuchosos'.
Her passion for beauty pageants led her to participate in various competitions, in which she has obtained multiple crowns. With an imposing height of 1.81 centimeters and a stage presence that distinguishes her, Arlette Rujel has also embarked on her own path as an entrepreneur with her clothing line “Égalité”.
2020 marked a crucial point in her career when she won the title of Miss Callao and represented her region in the national Miss Peru pageant. Although she stood out as one of the jury's favorites, finishing in the Top 5, she was eliminated by the public vote. On that occasion, Janick Maceta took the crown. However, her performance did not go unnoticed and Jessica Newton selected her as Nuestra Belleza Universal Perú 2020.
Two years later, her perseverance paid off when she was elected Miss Hispanoamérica Perú 2022, and later, she achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Peruvian to win the crown of Queen Hispanoamericana in the pageant held in Bolivia.
With her recent title of Miss Grand Perú 2024, Arlette Rujel is preparing to represent the country at Miss Grand International 2024. With her experience and charisma, she promises to leave the name of Peru high in the international competition and repeat the victory achieved by Luciana Fuster in the last edition.
Arlette Rujel, current Miss Grand Perú 2024, has shared a painful part of her past by confessing that she suffered from eating disorders (ED), specifically bulimia and anorexia. In a recent interview, the model revealed that her experience in Argentina, where she lived for a time due to her mother's family, was key in the development of these problems. During her stay in the country, Rujel stopped participating in haute couture modeling, facing extremely demanding beauty standards that led her to a deep dissatisfaction with her image. “I wanted to change my life because I was getting sick,” she recalled.
However, her mother encouraged her to reconsider her decision. Upon returning to Peru, Arlette Rujel met with the directors of the Miss Peru pageant, which marked a new beginning in her career. This return not only allowed her to continue her career in the world of beauty pageants, but also led her to learn how to maintain a slim figure in a healthy way.
