There's a possibility that the van driver didn't see the biker . Panel vans have a big blind spots if you directly besides them.

You cannot filter at a notably high rate of speed and get mad when people don’t notice you and change lanes.

Im glad in my state lane filtering/splitting is illegal. We have ao many tourists and even if you try to filter people let you by. Ive seen to many accidents from splitting.

Uhhh, just how fast was that first biker going? No idea what's the limit on that road, but it looked like he was going pretty fast, so not sure who's The Karen in this situation. Those two should get married...
I see a lot of bad bike riding in these videos.... Cars need to watch for bike's. But bike's need to drive responsibly ... it's not always the other guys fault...
First dude is the A hole, driving faster than the traffic and lane splitting then gets all pissy when he the one going faster than traffic.
Watched a longer version on another channel, if he'd been going a more appropriate speed it wouldn't have been such a close call.
@@shawnr6117 That the thing bikers don't grasp, they go faster than traffic because they don't have to drive like a car does.
And 90% drivers are not actively looking out for bikers going faster than the flow of traffic, even though it was an illegal turn, the lady had plenty space and time to turn and speed up before the car would catch her, but the biker blames everyone but himself..
The only time I ride a bit faster than traffic is when I am on the highway, when I am in town or roads with lots of traffic, intersection and cross roads I slow down because drivers are not looking for a speeding bike..
@@shawnr6117 The one accident that has stuck with from when I was 18, and happened like 10mins before I got there, a motorbike hit hatchback on the center pillar with so much force, the car bent around the bike, and the car flipped on it side with the bike still in it, rider was gone on impacted..
All because he was speeding from stop street, the driver of the car said she did not even see him coming as it happened with such speed..

That seems like KPH to me.
Lane filtering does not give the biker the right of way. If a car is changing lanes in front of you they have the right of way. Lane filtering is only allowed if done slowly and safely and if there is room.
agreed. if you always assume no one sees you on the road while riding, then nothing surprises you. making it home in one piece is top priority.
Utter gut rot. That’s not the order of actions.
Any vehicle can only leave its lane and cross the line where it has looked and seen it is safe to do so.
If you’re referring to the clip 8:00 then this isn’t a fault of normal filtering. This is doing it too quickly.
The traffic is very slow and an instance filtering applies. But you want minimal speed difference to give car users chance to see you, each and every one.
Expecting a car user to look back more than one car is like thinking chocolate milk comes from brown cows.
When doing this, then yes the bike is allowed to proceed. And the car cannot change lane until it is safe.
But then maybe American is different to the UK, where it’s clear that you cannot change lane or direction such that it causes another road user to brake or take evasive action.
By all means pass through much more quickly, but take the consequences and have nothing to complain about.

I'm from Europe and been to the states many time (around 25 states so far). Driving culture is very different. Americans drive crazy. I would legit be afraid to ride on US highways. I have drive rental cars there before. So the fact that some people still split lanes in US is beyond me :D

I keep "attention getters" stuck to tiny magnets on my handlebars. Attention getters are anything small metal and heavy. Like lug nuts, big bolts, things like that. Drivers don't know your there, because they are too lazy to look. So you have to gently remind them.

That was neither legal nor safe.
It's a good idea to try not to piss off your neighbors with your bike because you have to see these people everyday.
All riders are entitled to exceed all speed limits by up to 30mph and anyone objecting is officially a fuddy-duddy. Just ask any rider and they will confirm this as fact.
