Pretty awesome video man. If you follow fantasy usually the rule of thumb is 3rd year breakout. It's not always gaurenteed it takes work. Adams has definitely put in the work and there is no defending it like the man says. One of the reasons the pack haven't given up on the young receivers we currently roster. Give them some time and see how they progress. Great video man
Damn I remember all the negativity that was coming his way those 1st 2 years, especially in 2015, fans were calling him a bust and wanted him cut but I believe Rodgers had a lot to do with devante being the player that he is today, Rodgers could see the greatness was there and he would still keep throwing him the ball even though he was dropping a lot of passes..
Not gonna lie I didn’t like him at first because he seemed to not make plays but he must have taken a little bit from Nelson and Cobb before they left the Packers because seriously now he’s like a mix of those two guys and he is so much better than when he first started with the pack. It truly is amazing to see someone improve so much and now he’s just a blast to watch.
In the first two years watching him he would get wide open but he would just drop the ball! Killed a lot of drives off of those, but I never wanted to drop him since he could get so wide open in the first place
Actually I feel like that fits more with Rodgers as he's one of the few quarterbacks that preaches on being relaxed and calm when playing! Almost like the way a jedi thinks
Adam’s REALLY has worked his way up to where he is now. A lot of people don’t realize he faced coverage against Richard Sherman multiple times over the years too.
I can agree that he was inconsistent his first couple seasons but he was never even close to the worst receiver in the league, not even in the bottom half the man has always been good. He just became great with hard work
Adam’s, I thought looked like he had potential his rookie year. His second and beginning of the third year he looked bad. He couldn’t catch the damn ball. I saw all these stats and thought the Packers should cut him in the middle of that third season. I didn’t think he would learn how to call catch that far in his career. And then he started to turn it around. His hands are great now. He hardly drops anything. If only MVS could learn how to catch from Devante.
Hands down best, been a packers fan when he wasn’t to hot drop many passes and than boom practice makes perfect on anything you do he’s really great with Rodgers now
great vid I liked all the stats, but what did he do to make such a big change? Was the hop step added, did he do different drills, or was it just experience/knowledge?
I think it really comes down to him working on and perfecting the subtleties of his route running. Some of that comes with age and experience, but he’s known to be one of the hardest workers in the league too, so he was undoubtedly constantly tinkering with his game. The hop step was indeed a clear sign of his growth which evolved over time.
There should be some disclaimers made for Adams' 2014 and 2015 season. The Packers offense under Rodgers and McCarthy was notorious for bringing along rookie WR's extremely slow and rarely giving them opportunities to shine early. The Packers best WR's in the Rodgers/McCarthy era -- James Jones, Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb -- all had seasons that were on par to the one Adams had. This is in large part to Rodgers playing a type of cerebral football that requires hundreds of live game snaps played between himself and his fellow WRs. He simply won't throw to you or trust you until he builds that telepathic connection with you. For 2015 it's almost unfair to harshly critique Adams at all. He had a severe ankle injury that plagued him all season and likely had a lot to do with his concentration drops and poor play against single coverage. This was in the same season where Rodgers said in training camp that he thought Adams was a pro-bowl level receiver. That was in his second year. So I understand the maker of this video -- trying to show the transformation of Adams from the worst to the best and it is in part true, but I think the talent and skill was there all along. Without injury and in a situation where the QB would have given him more opportunities in his first two-three years, I think Adams could have had equally exceptional seasons as he is having now.
I remember wanting him gone after 2015, he dropped so many passes, 2015 was Aaron's worst years stat wise besides TD passes, and I felt it was largely because of Adams not progressing, Jordy being hurt, and McCarthy's terrible play calling adjustments.
