When you get around to the dedicated Nightwish episode, remember they REALLY shine in the clips from live concerts.
Absolutely
@@VARVIS_ not sure i'm getting the point of this without any actual videos of the performances shown ?
When i think of power Metal Sabaton, Alestorm, Powerwolf and Unleash the Archers comes to my mind 😉
Kamekot and Man O War too
You really need to check out the Nightwish 2013 Wacken concert.
Your wife would absolutely love it.
Nightfall in Middle-Earth in based on The Silmarillion
I'd like to reiterate the movement for some modern powermetal. Unleash the Archers, Powerwolf, Dragonforce, Gloryhammer, Windrose.
Also, DEFINITELY a folk metal rundown. Get some Brothers of Metal, Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Turisas, etc.
Power metal bands what comes my mind, are; Sabaton, Battle beast, Sonata arctica, Amorphis, Dark Sarah, Powerwolf, Nightwish, Wintersun..
Nightwish are my favorite symphonic metal band, but I much prefer Floor Jansen to Tarja Turunen on vocals.
WOW !!! I do listen both but from this reaction seem Tarja voice is just 60% of Floor metal voice
I concur.
I do like Tarja's performance here but Floor's live performance from Wacken 2013 is mind blowing. The epic high belting she does throughout is crazy.
In case she want to know what Mirror Mirror is about since she was dead wrong thanks to you :)
Its about the elf king Turgon who in the first age with the aid of one of the Valar. the gods in Tolkiens works, founded the hidden city of Gondolin. It was a mighty hidden city with a powerful army that even the the big bad of the first age, Morgoth, feared and was desperate to find. While the song isnt about LOTR some of the weapons used in those books was however forged in that city, Sting being one of them.
The door in the lyrics is simply referring to the hidden entrance to the city and I think the mirror is referring to the mirrored image on the water, it was the god of water who guided Turgon to the hidden valley where Gondolin was built.
The dragon is also something she isnt completely wrong about. while there were no dragons in Moria there was a balrog. In the final battle that destroyed Gondolin there were a few more of them as well as dragons. Morgoth REALLY wanted to get rid of those pesky elves.
Thanks Ill show her this comment 😂👍👍
Waiting for Gothic metal reaction ❤
Normie wife: the mines of moria.
The dwarf in me: we call it khazad-dûm.
Men, now I want to listen to Ren - Down on the Beat😂
a slight nitpick here, Nightfall in Middle Earth is a concept album for the Silmarillion rather than the Lord of the Rings
Power Metal is basically pop music for metalheads 😂
I highly suggest the latest video of Nightwish- Laternlight❣️ (Take some tissues) Nightwish is crossing a lot of genres. They're are a drawer on their own. Freja 🐕 is the name of Floor Jansens daughter
A full episode on Nightwish would be great!! And I hope you will listen to them with all of their singers. :D This here was Tarja. After her was Anette and now their lead vocalist is Floor. They all are really great and quite different.
And if you do more episodes with power metal, you should definitely include Battle Beast (yes, more Finnish bands :D)
Show her Angra!! Greetings from Brazil 🤘
If there's another Power Metal episode, you should include Sabaton, Rhapsody of Fire and maybe showcase some japanese bands like Galneryus.
Absolutely love both those bands Galneryus specifically
and also hammerfall, seventh wonder, majestica (formerly known as reinxeed) and dynazty, honestly, could probably have done a whole episode on just swedish power metal bands with all the different ones like the 4 i mentioned + sabaton + a some other swedish power metal bands.
majestica would fit really well to do a video on around christmas with their christmas concept album based on charles dickens book about ebenezer scrooge, album title is even the same as the book title, and on top of that, sabaton has also a christmas song that would fit well with that theme, otherwise both have great non-christmas themed power metal songs as well.
yes, galneryus is definitely a band i would have shown, specially loving all the neoclassical and symphonic elements to galneryus type of power metal from around 2010, later stuff has been a bit on the heavier side rather than the virtuosic power metal (ie dragonforce with all their guitar solos). angel of salvation, that is basically a rewritten metal version of a tchaikovsky arrangement, is by far their absolute best song (just dont do the shortened music video/radio edit version of AoS)
@@Deilwynna If there's a Christmas special, Trans-Siberian Orchestra would be the obvious choice, they do a Symphonic Power Metal sort of thing. I've checked out some videos on RUclips and they sound cool.
Whoa, I'll be real, I didn't expect Theocracy on this list. They're a great band, super underrated.
Hell yes 👍👍 one of my all time favourites
If she liked power metal. She needs to hear it’s boujee younger sister. Symphonic Metal!
Here are my recommendations personally:
Epica: the best band of the symphonic big 3 imo. Design your Universe, Consign to Oblivion and Kingdom of Heaven pt3 are a must.
Nightwish: the most iconic of the symphonic big 3. Storytime and Everdream from Wacken 2013 are my recommendations.
Seven Spires: my favorite band of all time! They showcase the entire spectrum of Symphonic metal from the folky ballads, to the catchy power metal influences to absolutely feral Symphonic Black Metal. This God is Dead, the Unforgotten Name, Love’s Souvenir and Architect of Creation are a must.
Blackbriar: these guys have perfected the Symphonic Gothic style that Within Temptation had on their first album. I have a feeling Evelyn will like these guys. My Soul’s Demise, Moonflower, Cicada and Arms of The Ocean are sheer perfection.
Edit: ok cool. So Nightwish was there lol. Still would love her to hear the Floor Jansen versions of these songs
Nightwish in general is definitely symphonic metal. The power metal vibes can mostly be found on the early records. Crownless and Stargazers would've been much more power metal-y than Ever Dream.
A power metal list without Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, and Rhapsody of Fire also seems crazy to me. Galneryus and Celesty should also be there. Overall, this was a pretty tame power metal list, missing the most energetic fast songs and intense solo sections.
Was 12:24 something by Death?
Yeah, it's Spirit Crusher from Death
@@carlosabrahamvidalsepulved2053 Yeah, couldn't remember the song title.
You got it!!! 😎😎
You did a wrong song from NightWish. It´s a great song, but if the idea is to show something close to Power Metal, you should go to something from OceanBorn album.
Or something really new, like An ocean of strange islands or Antichythera mecanism
You really have to do a second part of power metal, and next time including Rhapsody of Fire, Stratovarius, Sabaton, Unleash the Archers and (as she likes LOTR) Wind Rose. BTW her reaction to Ever Dream was also my reaction to listening to that song for the firsts times, I loved to mimic violin.
Not Rhapsody of Fire. Only Rhapsody. From that band, what is a "must listen" is "Emerald Sword".
Yessir 🫡🫡
Ngl, I expected some 3 Inches of Blood based on your previous videos.
And I may have a huge Brazilian bias, but I really wanted to see her hearing some Angra
Would've been cool to see them react to "Time" or maybe "Temple of Hate".
Love Angra!
For power metal I really enjoy Lovebites. The ladies are very good at playing the instruments and the songs are played very fast. The lead singer is the weak point for me.
Do Nightwish Live Wacken 2013. One of the greatest quality concert videos. They are much harder live with Floor.
VARVIS AND WIFE HYPE
VITO WITH THE FIRST 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Nightfall in middle earth is about the Silmarillion not lotr! Loved the video tho!
the Germans would disagree with you on Medieval metal (or in German Mittelalter metal) being a distinct subgenre- particular examples being Feuerschwanz, Saltatio Mortis, Subway to Sally and In Extremo
Power metal rules, tbf.
Rhapsody of Fire for pt. 2. :)
show her wintersun
The new album was a surprise. But also, a bit short
@@metalmanny666 try listening to time 1 and 2 together its an experience
Remastered Sonic Pump Studios live Time I rehearsal session: Time, Sons of Winter and Stars, Land of Snow and Sorrow.
The whole Time II album!
From Forest Saesons album at least: Eternal Darkness (autum), Loneliness (WInter).
From selftitled album: Death And The Healing, Winter Madness, ...
YT-channel would be Wintersun Jari.
Show her a Gloryhammer video, they're fun power metal
maybe throw in some of the other fun bands out there like Alestorm, Brothers of Metal, Nanowar of Steel and Wind Rose
Medieval Metal is definitely a thing. As well as Pirate Metal
I don't understand metalheads who don't like powermetal. "Cause it's not relatable" I've heard people say, but am I supposed to believe that they related to Cannibal Corpse cumming blood?! Like yeah no shit I don't "relate" to Dragon Force but you can bet your months' paycheck that when they sing :
"Rise over shadowed mountains blazing with power
Crossing valleys, endless tears, in unity we stand
Far and wide across the land, the victory is ours
On towards the gates of reason fight for the truth and the freedom
Gloria!"
I'm gonna be busting out my tinfoil armor and take a bite out of a metal rod in order to make a sword!
if she got like that with a 12 minute song I wonder how she'll react to progressive metal songs that go over 20 minutes
Theocracy's my favourite power metal band, so that was a good surprise. If you do a part 2, you should include Kamelot, and Beast in Black
the only power metal band i know is falconer, but they're pretty great
Not going to lie you both were hitting those notes in that duet pretty nicely LOL
Ayyy thanks bro 😂😂
Since she likes power metal, concept albums, Kiske and the Edguy song. You definitely need to show her The Metal Opera album by Avantasia. Tobias Sammet (Edguy), Michael Kiske (Helloween), Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray) and Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) among others.
I love chaotic Freja!
Some Iced Earth is needed
Great episode! 🤘 Power Metal was my first favorite subgenre, it really opened the metal universe to me. If you guys get the chance, go watch Helloween and Blind Guardian live, they really put up a show.
PS: check out "The Hurricane Master" by italian band Domine, impressive high-pitched vocals 🤘
I have seen BG live it was excellent. Still waiting on Helloween or Gamma Ray to come to Canada near me lol
@@VARVIS_ Don't miss them man, if by any chance they play near you. Specially Helloween, it's phenomenal and really emotional! Gamma Ray is really fun live, Hammerfall too, they love to interact with the crowd, lots of fun!
(nice to see Theocracy on the video, amazing band 🤘)
Definitely excited for a potential folk metal episode, I like most metal genres but folk is my favorite
A Nightwish live performance with Floor Jansen might be interesting to listen to, it's quite a different experience compared to the album versions with the previous singers. Storytime, Song of Myself, 7 Days to the Wolves or Romanticide are all great.
Power metal! 🧙🏾♂️🪄⚔️🐉
Kamelot is also a classic power metal band. Love their earlier darker albums.
Kamelot is amazing. Sad it was not included in the selection here.
for me one of the best voices was the first singer for kamelot
anyway beast in black - blind and frozen should be a must tbh
Aktchually, the nightfall in middle earth album was bas... oh a million people already commented that. lmao.
Always nice to see people appreciate Lost Horizon, I still remember the first time I heard Pure and was so blown away that I didn't listen to anything but them for weeks.
Would have been fun to see some Freedom Call so she can experience the cheesy, silly side of power metal too.
kudos for having played nightiwsh with tarja
Hurray. Power Metal. Unexpected but welcome
Please show here some Kamelot, i think she would like it
Next maybe some pop-infused modern metal such as Bad Omens, Future Palace, Sleep Token, Ad Infinitum, Bring Me The Horizon and Conquer Divide
Yess a baddiecore/modern metal episode is coming up soon
@@VARVIS_Aka Cum metal😏 yea seconded
No rhapsody?
Will be in next power metal episode
Don't see enough Comments about Folk-Metal so here's one💪🏻🥳
Yes! Power Metal!
When you do the Nightwish episode, you might want to pause while talking so you'll hear the whole song, people will get mad otherwise😂
Do Powerwolf next episode
We need a themed metal band one with Alestorm, Wind Rose, Powerwolf, Amon Amarth etc :D
That smile at around 13.52 - the same smile we male metalheads get when finally our non metalhead girlfriend's actually say they LIKE some of our shit!
"Great, she finally admits to liking some Metallica,,,,,now to introduce her to my Traces Of Death DVD collection!"
Do an episode on sabaton
How about some old Sonata Arctica for part 2? (Full moon, 8th commandment, Replica)
Kamelot, particularly the first half of the Roy Kahn years
Some good song choices.
You should try showing her the live clip from Nightwish when they perform with Floor Jansen.
And suggestion: Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall - Queen of Fire. She would LOVE that song!
16:27 LOL nice one Varvis
The Blind Guardian Album Nightfall in Middle Earth is about the Silmarillion, not about Lord of the Rings, just saying. ^^
_Dragon in the mines of Moria (...). That's what the Hobbit was all about_ - it sure was 👌
@@Barthollomellow 😂😂😂
Freya cam! ❤
Flag of Alberta and an Oiler's jersey? How about you check out the power metal band Unleash the Archers from your next door neighbour, BC. They recently played Wacken, BTW, so not small potatoes.
People really sleep won seven spires and they shouldn't Please show her Their song called dare to live next time
Unleash The Archers
I don't like a lot of straight power metal but Lost Horizon is easily my favorite so good call.
It is criminal that you didn't do any Sabaton.
I love your work keep it up. I might have to have another listen to some power metal.
How about some epica kamelot unleash the archers symphony x and some lacuna coil
You need to have her react to Spiritbox and Jinger Circle with Me!!!
We did both Jinjer and Spiritbox in the Female Fronted episode
@@VARVIS_ oh yeah, I watched that video. Love it. It’s just Coly and people react to two different band leads coming together.
Two bands you should check out that are amazing female led metals bands are
Delta Hate and check their song RFB and the band Terminal Sleep I recommend their song Elicit Fear.
Blind Guardian is not less Power Metal than the first 2 songs, it´s way more Power Metal. If you don´t understand that, you don´t really know what´s Power Metal...
dragonforce and Kamelot
Both of you react to the Pain Remains trilogy by Lorna Shore, and pleeease don't cut parts of the song out of the video.
m.ruclips.net/video/WH3BOx1ppk4/видео.html
This one has subtitles, and all three parts in one.
Really cool mix of bands.
DUDE you included Theocracy! IMO they're one of the biggest sleeper bands in all of power metal. I'm unsubscribing so that I can subscribe again
pantera next pls
React to Lacrimosa 😏
well, I don`t want to be the downer here, but those 5 seconds snippets of the songs makes it very hard to get into the reaction. Maybe I´m the one who is out of the norm here, but I rarely fast forwarded a 44 minute reaction video as much as this one. Please don`t see this as the typical online rage/hate, but as a hint that this could be done better. If I want to watch a reaction, I want to at least get the impression of the song ( in this case I knew almost all songs, so this was no problem, but I watch reaction vids to bands I don´t know that good also)
Full reaction with no skips is available for free on patreon for you guys to watch
Don't know... I still get a feeling of a song. Cuts are well done.
Show her the oddesey by symphony x
So many great Power Metal bands, you had to do crappy Theocracy...
Not one of the best songs from Lost Horizon.
Having a bad day man? lol
@@VARVIS_ Well, the morning was bad, the after noon less bad, if you will.
But no, not trying to put you down or anything, just voicing my opinion on your song choices, that´s all.
I like your channel, and being a Power Metal fan since the golden age of Power Metal (late 90´s), i think some of your choices were sopt on, but for some others, i would have choose other songs.
Stay well.
@@mindtraveller100 sorry to hear that man. Hope your day gets better 👍👍 whats your favourite Lh song?
@@VARVIS_ My life has gone downhill since my mom died last year and i became alone. This morning i was especially sad because one of my co workers, who has supported me a lot in these hard times, was not talking to me the way she usually does, and that brought me down. But later in the day, that situation got better.
As for LH, i love "Pure", for instance. That would be a great choice. Also "Cry of a RestLess Soul", and "Think Not Forever", and some others. They don´t have bad songs, but some i prefer over others.
Sorry to hear that man. My sincere condolences. I also lost my mom about a year and half ago. Any advice man? Somedays its really tough.
