Stanton was the player of the game getting big hits. Coming into this season the expectations were low for him. At one point he was 3rd on the team in OPS, HR, RBI and SLG. His injury was sadly not surprising, but he came back. Even though he can't run anymore he's always a threat in the lineup no matter the situation. He's absolutely clutch and I'm extremely happy for him. He deserves the credit and more for this performance on the road.
I remember after Judge hit number 62, Stanton casually coming over after the celebrating to give judge some water and doing a solemn cheers with him. He's a smart player and for all his faults, this guy understands the game. Judge cites him as a mentor, and him holding it down in these games, it means something to that clubhouse. I expect the offense to pick up next game, they were close this game to breaking through, some tough breaks for Judge and Soto, but they're close,

I love what Jimmy rollins said about the wildcard 3 game series being a double header for the first 2 games and then deciding everything the next day and then the next game we get everyteam playing so its like 2-3 days rest instead of 6-7 days rest for division winners
I kept telling fans who said we need to cut Stanton. Just wait. He has a knack for coming through big in October. His numbers in the playoffs give him an insane 162 games rate. Over 60 homers and like 150 RBI.
He’s been my boy since I was young baseball fan in Miami. When he was still called “Mike Stanton” he’s always been my favorite ball player and he threw me a ball in the outfield back when I was a kid so I’ve just always had a soft spot for him. Was loving it last night him coming through for us clutch.

Giancarlo is a big game producer! THIS is why you live with all the strikeouts, his inability to run and the injuries. When you need him to come through on the big stage, he does. Even had a stolen base of all things! Just goes to show how different an animal the postseason is!
Giancarlo Stanton is still a very dangerous bat in the lineup when you think he's done he has a way of saying everyone hey check this out and he shows you he's still got it and that's great

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Schmidt be unittable until the 5th inning and then just lay an egg after the 4th inning
If the bullpen could be as strong as it was last night 5 innings is plenty. In a 7 game series I would consider rolling him and Cole out there twice, possibly 3 times if we get to a game 7. They can rest in November
The Yankees bullpen have been the real heroes so far. Give credit to Stanton for carrying the team tonight. I hope Cole can carry the team to the ALCS tomorrow. But don't underestimate KC. They are a good blend of veterans and youngsters.

Here's an idea:
The series is best of 5 if the division winner gets to 2 wins first
But if the WC team gets to 2 wins first, it becomes a best of 7
they should eliminate wild card and turn the playoffs nba playoff bracket style 1st round best of 3 gives other teams with good record an opportunity to play in postseason after a very long season this will generate more hype and more fans towards mlb.
