The Sword of Nunoboko is the sword of the soul. It represents the user's soul. The reason it broke is because Obito is having doubts about himself. If Obito is confident, he'll destroy that Susanoo Sword.
I love the design of The Sword of Nunoboko. The double helix design represents DNA, the beginning of life, while the sword itself is stated to be able to destroy and create the world.

You could say Obito ignorance to reality was strong. Obito only saw the negative things about world, and believed the world was lost. When he fighting Naruto thats when piece of him who held hope of the world started to resonate within himself. He started having doubts about his decision of the world. The sword of Nunoboko is the sword of the soul, hence when he clashed with Naruto and Sasuke it broke. Naruto and Sasuke will was solid, but Obito was riddled with doubts and regrets. It actually very well written, but people aren't paying attention at all.
I don't think Obito had a choice, he was just manipulated , all that thing of "kakshi and Rin are in risk, go rescue them" was just an excuse to awaken his mangekyou and see if he really was able to control wood element, Madara is a jerk for sure.
Obito was also outcast like all Jinchuriki untill someone reach him and made him feel like he is needed. Like how Naruto have great background but still lonely. Obito also a Uchiha but still lonely. That's why Rin is his last trigger. Difference between Kakashi and Obito is that Kakashi healed bcoz of ppl around him. But coz Obito had Madara he got more worse than he already was after seeing Rin dying by Kakashi hand and seeing Kakashi bear the pain of killing Rin. Naruto was only 2 step away from becoming pseudo-jubi jinchuriki at that point.
@@yoklyujl7 how would he be able to use kamui when he is hosting all the tailed beast? He teleports himself when using kamui and it makes sense he can’t since he has other beasts inside him. Also he already got a major buff by making him the jinchuriki and kamui was pretty useless at this point of time since Kakashi and Naruto knows how to counter it.
The funny thing is Madara and Obito and even Hashirama spouting of history lessons here or there. But some of it is completely off as we will see later haha.

First time I seen this episode I assumed Naruto already had some 8 tails chakra because Kurama took some when Bee was teaching Naruto to take the beast chakra.
I believe Madara had something inside of him to control him so no he didn't really have a choice. he let kakashi destroy it with that chidori through the chest. that's when I'm out of the lost control over him and he was able to become the ten tails
