    Been running mage for a few weeks now, working toward the dragon boss but really nervous to go for it, haha. This video definitely gave me the confidence boost to go ahead and do it. Cheers brother

    It’s sad how he had to say the damage of a made/wizard will not compare to the barb 2hw build and he is right, it dosnt. You’d only play a wizard right now if you want to, not because it’s good

      @@SgtKenway I like the mage, and it can take the Dragon down super-fast, but my DPS-dealer will always be my 2H melee beast. I think mage, at least at the moment, is best in a group. It can do great damage and heal, as long as you have a tank taking aggro.

    I've played mage for over 400+ hrs, you're missing a lot of damage with not taking lightening and thunder being paired up with the additional shock damage from mass destruction and the other perk with it (can't remember the name)
    Edit: also to add, i would look into confirming that the "ranged weapon" damage increase from the ranger tree actually increased staff damage. From my understanding, that is specific to bow even though the staff says ranged weapon

    Yep, it's all about stunning with a mage. I'm literally going to have to switch a bow to take down the dragon up in Pike just to progress in the game. Mage at low to mid-game needs some serious love for solo game. If I were to want anything right now, it's that the mages need serious balancing compared to melee builds. I could be wrong, but just what I see so far and I'm level 22

      @@bassheavyDM I think the biggest detriment for mages in the mid-game are the spells. You can still get some decent dmg with the right specs in the skill tree, but the ammo is SEVERELY lackluster until the endgame.
      My next playthrough I'm going to probably play some type of mage throughout it, and that's my biggest concern is the balance for that character type. Mage is phenomenal with a team, but solo it's pretty MEH until you almost 100% the game.

      @@bigkidBAM You are 100% dead on. It's completely the spells now that I think about it. I have a combo wizard/battlemage build and I should be putting out crazy damage with my skills. You end up stuck on Fireball II for the majority of your time mid-game and that's the big problem because you end up going melee with a 1H and shield anyway. Lots of things they will correct and refine, but yeah, the spells need serious love at this level. I've always been a mage guy (and prefer support) so I love my mages. Another great video man, keep it up.

      @@bassheavyDM thanx, brutha! I truly do appreciate that! I haven't gamed much lately, due to my pneumonia, but it's ALMOST GONE!!! So I'll be working on a couple of vid idears here soon before I start a fresh playthrough on hardest difficulty.
      Thank you again for the continued support! 🙏

    Nice build. Starting out as a mage is the hardest part - you're just not able to cast fast enough and haven't the Mana to do the damage required for 'normal' advancement. I suggest that at initially you spec along one of the more physical skill branches and when you progress to obtaining decent Wands and Staffs - reset your skill tree.

      @@Bob.Jenkins thank you!
      You are right, playing staff mage right from the beginning is tough. However, I recommend starting out with WAND build until you have enough points and resources to switch over to staff. The wand, if spec'd properly, can be pretty good early game.

    I heard multiple people say that the Bone Channel 2 spells destroy the dragon when he's on the ground. Not sure if this is true.

    • @bigkidBAM
      @bigkidBAM  16 часов назад +1

      @@Lava-pe6wu it did okay, but nowhere even close to the acid. And, at least in my testing, the ice bolts do more dmg with the ice staff and skill point buffs to ice.
      Maybe they found a combo I didn't 🤔, but I didn't think the bone spells did that great.

      @bigkidBAM  16 часов назад

      @@jaw_1594 that only boosts sneaking damage, right? If an enemy isn't aware of you. So, no, I don't think that's a good skill for a mage. It's very rare you'll be attacking unaware foes.
