I can't say thank you enough, I had this trouble with my work laptop and I would had to travel 400km to go back to my workplace to fix this problem, thankfully your video saved the day! .
You are a genius bro. May God bless you your video came as a life saver for me. I have college project demonstration tomorrow and when I wake up in morning I found same issue with my laptop I tried everything but nothing happened then by the grace of God I found your video & I tried doing the same my problem got solved & laptop turned on. I had foolishly not backed up my project data & might fail in tomorrow's project demonstration practical exam. Thank you so much ❤
I just have a new HP Elitebook laptop, surprisingly not able to turn on. The problem seems the same as you said -- it's the battery -- I removed the panel, disconnected the battery connector, plugged in cable charger, it can turn on but displayed something like "it needed battery to continue to power on" on display. It's a good sign. Then I have to connect it while the power is on. I know it's not recommended, but the problem will be same if doing so unplugged. It seems that the computer needs a little power from the battery even with the power cord, which means if the battery is pretty pretty dead, the computer is dead, even the power cord can't even charge it. All in all, it indicates that it's a design detect. Thank you for the video.
Thanks! Some extra pointers not clear on the video- after fully loosening not really removing the 8 screws the shell is a challenge to pop up - I started at a corner near the hinge and gradually worked my way around - also the battery connection slides back - not up - note the little side tabs. Its ALIVE!
100.000 Thanks!!! I had this problem during all this week. As a teacher in homeschooling i am so reliefed that my loved elitebook is now working again. Thanks thanks thanks!
Just want to add that I have the same HP Elitebook 840G5. Disconnecting the internal battery (plus the CMOS too to be sure) worked, but I had to hold the power button for 1 minute to force a hard reset. Connecting everything worked and it appeared to be fixed. While I could power off and power on the laptop and the battery appeared to discharge and recharge normally, if I left of powered off overnight, the next day it wouldn't power up and I'd have to start the procedure all over again. After extensive tests (ram, SSD, A/C adapter, etc.), the problem seems to be the battery itself. If I leave the internal battery disconnected, CMOS and A/C connected, I can power on/off normally and everything works. It must be something weird in the battery itself.
I owe you numerous beers sir. My brand new work laptop worked perfectly for 3 days then just wouldn't turn on. Unplugging the bettery turned the trick! (Hope I don't have to do this every 3 days, those little screws are fiddly...)
Also helped me, when I without AC Power (battery must be charge) hold long (1-2minutes) button power. After Hard reset and waitting/ 2 restart and then start HP protective start normally to Windows 10.
Hello Bro it's a great work you doing. Well I need your help with something pls, pls can you help me snap a clear picture of the BIOS Chip and the resistors beside it on your HP ELITEBOOK 850 G5 because I'm having some problems with mine and I need the BIOS diagram or picture to use and compare with mine. Thanks a lot and I will await your response.
Tried everything in your video.. but no results :/... continues flashing when I plug it in but only illuminates the orange light where the charging port is.. again flashing... any suggestions
@@OffTrekIncorporated working in a hospital with these everywhere i see it almost daily on multiple HP models, holding the power button for 30 seconds also sorts it! latest bios and everything just HP being HP
Cat spilled water over the keyboard and laptop immediatly turned off. Since then, the same issue like here. Cant power on. When pluged in, blinking a few times red and white, caps lock a long white blink, and then the same orange led lights up. But, i have no Battery inside. Any ideas? I hope its not shorten...
I had this happen to clients a few times. I opened the case, disconnected the battery (and CMOS) took out the SSD to recover the data and left it to dry up for 4 months (I got busy). Then I connected everything and it powered up. I will have to change the battery (see my Oct 18/21 comment).
have an elitbook 840g2 - power button on fritz - machine will not run unless you keep pressure on the power button (let go it shuts down, keep pressure it runs as normal) - I assume button board is bad. you think replace board is proper fix?
I cant answer that specifically, but things do break, and if you can, try replacing the board I suppose to see if ti works. Hope it's not too expensive.
Mine won't even show it's charging! I have a lightening cable that connects it to a router, and 2 different chargers. No indication light at all and it won't turn on
sometimes when a battery is 100% dead or shorted out on the inside of the battery, the charger sometimes wont work, have you tried other chargers as well?
@@OffTrekIncorporatedbro I have same laptop. not changing now I use 1 hour ago. Its okay but I put in charging in 1 hour ago the not on my laptop or not showing light? what problem will happened

I did not expect that, but I had a similar problem on my G3 and unplugging and replugging the battery actually worked. Thanks!

I use a credit card to pry it open, I start with a thinner card and then slip in a thicker card.

you could also press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds, that should reset it.
Tried that, even tried holding it for 30 seconds to a minute

thank you
Thanks . But why it happens ? What is root cause of it
Not sure what the root cause is, I have a feeling the bios needs to be updated, I wish i had a better answer, but I've only seen this once
