I enjoyed listening to this. Why do black women feel the need to shout that their independent all the time I don't see white women doing it. I can see how this can be so off-putting for men because these types of women come across too aggressive, it's not every day "I'm strong, I can do it all by myself etc" why wouldn't you want to have a partner who helps you, covers you etc. I work full-time and I have my business yet I respect my man when I'm at home I just want to be soft and let him lead, I cant be hard 24/7 lol

I think what Nissy is trying to say is that we shouldn’t be shocked that there is still racism and we should focus on growing ourselves as black people and supporting each other, support black business, black creatives, black academics. HOWEVER I think that if we are not still outraged by treatment that black people face, we will not be able to dismantle systemic racism. The treatment that black people face is just a reminder of the fact that the system is set up against us. I don’t want my children to have to work doubly hard just to get the bare minimum so I will be outraged, I will fight against racism both in the face of it and by what Nissy is speaking of, which links very well with the Black Consciousness Movement
