Thank you for sharing the video. I also struggled with the tracking while skiing, but I had it on low setting, so it would be closer to the ground as I was descending. I wish I had more time to do more tests. I believe it all has to do with the sensors the neo uses to calculate the distance from the ground. We all know they don’t work well over water, so high chances it struggles with snow too. I was amazed by how well it corrected the white balance on the video, but I would have loved better tracking. Still an amazing pocket sized drone that is worth every penny.
I tried my Neo in Sauze and Sestriere on the opening weekend.. It did struggle. Seems not to like the sudden height drop and at one point started tracking another member of our group, not me. I’m in Sauze now with a Hover Air X1 Pro and I’m hoping for better results. Keep up the good work ❤
I did some basic stuff and its already blown the Neo away. Also helps spotting it as its black against a white back ground. Will try with the beacon tomorrow when it’s quieter. Might upload preliminary footage this evening.
I have both the NEO & HoverAir X1 and X1 Pro, the NEO is a fun little versatile inexpensive drone but unfortunately it's tracking capabilities and speed is no where near the HoverAir drones and that's why it's half the price ;) Not to mention the video quality is sub par for a 4K camera which is surprising in a DJI product as I also own and love their other drones. Great video, I need to get out skiing myself!
thanks for commenting, I agree that HoverAir performs better, I saw some videos. I did more tests in my new video here ruclips.net/video/Ot5DZtGCrGs/видео.html However, as Neo can fly much faster than 30 km/h I really hope that DJI comes up with a firmware update that improves following and tracking performance at least up to 50 km/h. I also want compatibility with motioncontroller2, integra, rc-n1.
@@alextan75 Yah, I have the Avata 2 and main reason why I got the NEO so that I can use my goggles, motionRC and FPV RC with it, thats the great thing about the NEO but the tracking and speed and accuracy is not comparison to the HoverAir. Also, I travel quite often so the folding HoverAir plays a important part for me in terms of portability. The original X1 is awesome, still love it and it's the smallest of the three. Even at 2.7K, it still tracks well and gives good footage.
Little test of the X1 Pro in the bowl today as a comparison. Will push it harder in Tuesday when it’s more quiet and try out the beacon. ruclips.net/video/Uz06TmSKsEI/видео.htmlsi=IqXtVnHalsTqTWT6
I want to see some test with hover, I know there Is also a specific kit for skiing, i expect in follows better and at higher speed. Anyway the neo might do better with a firmware update... But I think dji will do better with dji flip...
yes Neo is not good for thia, reacts to responsive to short moves left and right while you ski and looks bad. Same problem with tracking on dji pocket 3 camera , dji should make in new updates option that you can adjustment responsive to track then should be fine. Nice video man
@alextan75 yes true. I just want to say , i am flying fpv drones for 15 years and still for some shots human do better job. But also must say for 200$ drone it is amazing how it works, for sure i will get one for fun. Cheers man
For me the big problem is the speed... He loses you at 20 km/h... And if you don't connect the phone before taking off, it's a problem to get it back to you.
@@alextan75 They won't update it that much. Will they make a more capable auto follow drone? I still have doubts they'd unlock that much performance on auto.
idk about the laws in france but if you try and fly a drone in the U.S. at a ski resort, your drone and pass will be confiscated and you will face a hefty fine
Well, i do. In Italy you can where allowed by Enac/EASA. I fly where not crowded far from other people and with insurance. Of course you must follow local regulations. This was my first test in follow on the slopes, and i'm not happy with It, the Neo loses you at a very low speed
I ordered one to take to verbier this Christmas..I'm glad Amazon messed up the delivery as having experienced the Swiss I'm 100% sure I'd be in trouble!

How high your drone position? And at cold location how long your battery can fly? Tq
I was at 1600m. The battery lasts about 10 min. I have only 1 battery but I recharge it in my pocket with a powerbank.
with Avata did you fly in manual or normal?

@@RedEDFootage no, unfortunately is even worse than follow. It loses you almost immediatelly
I would try without a backpack or with a backpack that is the same color as the jacket.

You should try the hover cam pro max. I have just tested with my snowboard ride. It was wayyyyyy smoother than the Neo.

its double the price to so what would you expect? the Avata would do a better job than the Neo too and isnt that big.

Neo in manual mode FPV could have kept pace with you. Auto mode is hopeless at speed.

Neo is bad about tracking, my neo is also suspended in the air. It is slow and goes left and right
Yes but this is a firmware limitation l, the drone itself can go faster as it does in fpv, if dji wants to improve tracking capability, he can do it.
