Hamza is mis-informed. I worked for OTIS Engineering and we always used slick wire for our operations. Shit happens, and people make mistakes out there in the gulf and on land. Traditional wireline wire is the gauge of a coat-hanger wire.

Back in the 1980s I did this for 81/2 years as a tech on open hole, cased hole and production logging tools. The jobs then paid from about 70- 110 thousand a year. The engineers made the largest amount and us techs only made about 70. We got to stay inside when it was -40 though so it was a good job. $70 thousand then is about $190 in today’s dollars. The income stayed pretty flat over the years. I went into communications and we seemed to keep up with inflation a little better.

I talk to a lot of the wireline guys on location. They are the highest paid guys besides the company man. I’ve talked to at least 20 or so different guys and they all say they make 150-200k a year from only $21 an hour.
They get a bonus every time they detonate something. And also when the job is complete

Hey, I see your username says “oilfield”, and if you don’t mind me asking.. is it really worth it to work at the oilfield ? In my first years what are the chances of me making 100-150k ? No experience .. just looking for an opportunity

That's a little mom and pop company compared to Schlumberger, the originators and perfecters of wireline logging. And like leftunsaid77 wrote, slickline isn't wireline.

your comment makes no sence, just because it's Not E-Line doesn't mean it's not wireline. I am an E-Line Operator and I have expieriance in E-Line along with both Braided Line and Slickline , they are types of wireline.
