@@mirceadcd There is such a thing as "the geopolitical interests of your country", for which any army of any state fights. And at that time Afghanistan had a common border with the Union. The Soviets left Afghanistan and drugs poured into the USSR, and the Americans immediately entered Afghanistan and sat there for 20 years. But the local population at least respected the Russians, and hated the Americans ..

I love how you can place Gruppa Kaskad songs in order "alarm again","we're leaving at dawn","we are leaving" and "live on,Soviets" and get a story of a soldier that survived Afghan
Just as the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan fell, now the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is in its twilight as Taliban forces capture province after province. This song really makes it feel like the end of an era. Live on Kabul, Herat, and Kandahar live on!
blyat....when this was uploaded 2 weeks ago government forces still controlled most provincial capitals.... now only Kabul is left and is on the verge of falling... live on Kabul!
@@Felix-gl9dt Taliban just entered Kabul. Kabul may no longer live on physically, but it will live on in our memories. Live On! Kabul, Kandahar, Ghazni, Herat, and all the others!
This song goes through my head right now as each of these cities falls to the Taliban. I am sure right now a lot of Soviet vets of the Afghan war are looking on and saying "Well, we told you so!" and a lot of US vets going yeah...you were right At the same time its sad to see basically 30 years of war for nothing Its also stupid to know that the Soviet propped up Afghan government actually lasted 3 years and outlasted the USSR itself, yet the current US-created government is not even going to last 6 months.
They invested in internal political infrastructure, unlike the US. That is why the government was able to maintain its hold for three years until it was overwhelmed.
@@DogeickBateman not only political infrastructure, you can read about roads, bridges, hydroelectric power plants, enterprises, factories, universities and other good things. What is Salang Pass alone worth? It's great construction that provided and connected together a country divided by a mountain range.
My eyes feel moist for two nations that don't even exist anymore. What a damn tragedy, you could see what could have been for Afghanistan. What once felt real now seems like a distant dream for the region, especially seeing the women marching in that footage.
Maybe, some day we shall see them. It was already been a less than a distant dream and became a close at hand reality. So why it cannot become real again?
Great video Omnistar, I love the soul and character of this song It's something that you can only hear in Soviet/Russian music. The dark and mournful undertones combined with 80s rock music and the effects of the time make this style of music worthy of being a separate genre of music all it's own. Thank you for bringing this music to us, and may your channel grow to a million subscribers and beyond.
I don't know what it is,but many of the songs you've uploaded including this one have given me something to think about at least from the view of the Soviet Soldier be they paratroopers, recon scouts and more. The mournful ones like this one and the songs about Chechnya had made me shed a few tears too since I can't help but feel for the men. On the plus side, these songs are also helping me with learning Russian,so I get to practice word association and learn history too
Omnistar you should check out Андрей Чернышёв, he was a soldier of the 345th Airborne regiment and wrote multiple songs during his deployment. His songs like 20 лет and может быть really deserve to be translated and would fit your channel perfectly. Thank you for posting all those incredible songs!
Without a strong ideology and scientific thinking today's youth like us are divided. We all are selfish. We don't find fun in anything. There is only God and Greed. Hoping for better future... LIVE ON SHURAVI !!!
This hits really hard now, seeing how the Taliban just entered Kabul. Long live Kabul, Kandahar, Herat and all the others. RIP the Soviet and American servicemen who fought a war that changed nothing.
@@DogeickBateman Im sorry but im not a shred in pity for the americans... I dont feel nor think that they've gone there to restore law and order or whatever. They had everything, money, weapons, media, international help, everything but they fucked up very hard. And we really shouldnt forget who helped all those terrorists for all those years...
@@a.thales7641 I feel great pity for the American soldiers and diplomats who worked on field with the Afghans, but not for the politician and analysts back in Washington who were blind to reality.
The intent was entirely different, the soviets intended to incorporate, annex, invade, the same cannot be said for the US, which was a "revenge" for 9/11
That is so true my friend. However Russians failed to put the traitor gorbachev and his Belavezha gang to trail in 30 years. Putin is still protecting these traitors. Russian people deserve truth. Glory to the great USSR and invincible Red Army.
Last night, when I checked the news, and listened to this, I thought: "Well, at least Hairaton is still holding out." Today, I've found out that it has also fallen. Indeed, it is a sad turn of events.
Soviet troops left Afghanistan with pride. They fought against terrorists, built hospitals and schools and wanted a peaceful Afghanistan. The Afghan government held out for another 3 years. If the USSR had not collapsed, the secular government was still there. The Americans entered Afghanistan, nothing left except corruption and fled shamefully
I think after all, Soviets/Russians just the won this 43 years war. USA,NATO and their allies was practicaly defeated. Corrupt drug puppet government fall near 40 days after their withdrawal. Russians and Chinese embassy diplomats stay here and they are protected by Taliban. Afghanistan after 40 years are full of western guns so probably it will be bought by anti-zionist movements around world. Russian federation and China will economical cooperated with new government as exchange for removal opium fields and bring stability of course those countries got afghan natural expensive resources like lithium and uranium. Afghanistan will be reconstructed by Russians and Chinese. I wish Afghanistan and his nation finally peace!
Everything that Americans and their allies touch always ending by disaster. Afghanistan,Iraq,Libya,Syria,Ukraine...I hope this war was they last before they economical fall.
Sorry but that is utter bullshit. The Soviets tried to maintain control over a communist puppet state like they did in eastern europe. The Soviets never cared about the well-being of its subjects, that´s why the eastern bloc collapsed. The western intervention was a mistake, but it had different intentions and did not broke international law. In fact, there was even an UN resolution for this intervention. The western allies built up a modern society, the living standard had risen by 10 - 20 years, children had access to school. Withdrawing was a big mistake, and we can thank Trump for that. He thought naively, that you can negotiate with terrorists and exclude the very governement, the US is supporting, from these negotiations. The biggest mistake was not the intervention itself, but the withdrawal
It's so sad seeing them cheer for their Afghan allies which they have sacrificed so much for, knowing what eventually happened. They put up a good fight, poor bastards
bacha is kid in farsi also. pesar means boy in farsi. so we would say pesar bacha. it is the same language the afghans speak but pashtun has a different dialect
In contrary to the Soviets pulling out of Afghanistan, I feel sad for the Americans & NATO as their farewells were less of a parade and more of a Saigon style evacuation. An utter chaos in the aftermath of the fall of Kabul. Soviets soldiers had time to celebrate in their barracks after Gorbachev gave televised statement of the withdrawal and even a fully planned parade with flag banners and flowers to go with it. On the other hand, the Americans had to pack up in haste at dead of night without informing their Afghan allies, or even took the initiative to evacuate all remaining US citizens in Kabul. And they had to witness civilians making desperate last ditch attempts to hold onto military cargo planes in hopes of escaping the country. In all, I can't imagine how the US veterans are feeling after seeing such contrast from the Soviets in this video.
The Soviets were invited by the Afghan socialist government because they fucked up. The Americans just straight up invaded the country while just bombing things to rubble.
@@Kreia. Oh ya sure they value it by putting radicals in power rather than people who had an actual education. Moreover going back in time with every social policy possible, terrorists cannot run an economy. Get out of the gutter, what they tell you about them "changing" is to win acceptance and get out of the birthing a terrorist state first stage
I HIGHLY recommend the following detailed explanation of the Soviet treatment of Afghans vs the American one. It goes throught where the soviets succeeded and why the Americans failed in Afghanistan.
Even though I'm Israeli, I have to appreciate the Soviet effort to defeat Islamic extremism. A problem which unfortunately exists today, perhaps socialism would've made Afghanistan a bit more developed and less strict about religion.
