Dear Jordan. My brother, sister and girlfriend (my wife, @ present), owned Tempe's 1st punk bar, called "Friar Tucks", just to the west of the set, on Apache Blvd. Anyway, all of the barroom scenes, were shot there and at my parents bar, "Kings Cocktail Lounge". We partied with all of the cast n crew. Played roller hockey, with Kurt Russell, who kicked ass, on both pavement as well as the ice, @Tempe's Oceanside Ice Arena, on McClintock, just south of Victory Acres/Scottsdale. P.S., AL Lewis, was a total wildman~Righteous, Royal Riot. As was the actor, who portrayed Jim. Cheers, for what you do, (2 years after I discovered this vid), from SpoCanada.
Used Cars is one of the funniest movies made in 1980 and is still in my top 5 comedies of all time, & all the actors were perfect choices for the movie.
This is very well done! I was a 12 year old kid who lived in Apache Junction when this was being filmed. My mom and dad took me and my sister to where it was being filmed. And I remember seeing Kurt Russell doing a scene with someone. I'm sorry that I can't give you more details!! But it was very cool to see!
No other movie makes me laugh like this one....I have watched it so many times and it never fails to keep bringing enjoyment. The narrative about the movie that is on the DVD is just as entertaining as the movie with kurt Russel telling about the making of the movie.....Airport???? never watched it.
Used Cars is an underrated classic for sure. Although many of my friends who remember seeing this wasn't from movie rentals. This was huge after the box office catching it on cable TV which was being introduced to families for the first time. To this day even my dad still loves Used Cars!
Not only do I always enjoy your filing location vlogs, but I love when you feature an old movie that I’ve forgotten about. This was hilarious! Your production knowledge is always very impressive. Amazing!
Me and my Mom went to Broadway and South Central Ave when they filmed the test drive screen. The Penny Pinchers building is now the Ed Pastor City Bus Terminal and the Central Ave Bridge now is under construction for the new Light Rail Train
The same actress, Deborah Harmon, who also played" Barbra Fuchs" played the snotty friend " Ilene" to Tom Hanks girlfriend in Bachelor Party. She has wonderful acting range for her characters in both movies.
This movie was an obscure favorite of mine when I was a young kid in the 80’s. It’s crazy how many of these “obscure” 80’s movies that we both grew up liking. Used Cars, Moving Violations, etc, etc, are all great movies that definitely deserved lots more attention when they were released!!! Jordan-thanx so much for keeping the memories of these films alive!!! You are the most awesome vlogger ever!!! You RULE!!! Keep up the great work brother!
The scene with the 57 was filmed about 15 miles away from the car lot. It was on central and Broadway and traveled north to central bridge in phoenix which is where they jumped the dividers. I remember watching them film the scene
I just saw Used Cars last night. You touched on something really important in my opinion at the start of the video. Something that movies can't really get anymore is a second chance. In the old days if a movie failed in the theaters, it could have a second opportunity of success on VHS or DVD through the rental stores. There are countless movies that became bigger on their second release than their first or just gained a cult like status this way. Now with everything digital you just don't see that anymore.
Roy’s car lot, at the time the movie was filmed, was the Darner Chrysler-Plymouth dealership. The lot was rented and the existing building were “resigned” temporarily to become Roy L. Fuchs Pre-owned Automobiles. Darner, like so many other Chrysler dealerships, had there dealership agreement terminated in 2009 after Chrysler’s “Great Recession” bankruptcy and sell out to Fiat.
Just watched it again tonight and introduced it to a younger friend!! Budget was 8 million dollars and it grossed 11 million so it wasn’t a flop! It was such a great movie full of one liners!!
Awesome vlog. I lived in Mesa when they filmed it. Weeks before they put that car up on the 30 ft pole and no one knew why lol. We were able to watch filming but so many people there i didn't get to see much. Thought it was so cool they filmed in our little town! Thanks for bringing the memory back. Safe travels.
😆😆😂🤣that was so hilarious watching you get into this vlog! Your laughter was really infectious!! You are having fun, my friend 😁. Haven't seen the movie, but I'll give it try. Looks really"campy". See ya tomorrow. Safe travels to you 🙏.
Fun fact, John Candy was the original cast for the district attorney Sam Slaton character who was played by Joe Flaherty in Used Cars. But John dropped out because he had scheduling conflicts with the movie 1941. So the character was given to the next actor who was Joe Flaherty.
I remember watching this movie on tv back in the day. Very funny movie. Yes it should have been a bigger success. "mile of cars " thing was a funny part of the movie. Great choice Jordan!
This a classic I watched it when it first came out yup iam old! Lol 😂 the favorite scene was with Toby n the guy buying the station wagon omg! That dog acted so good! What you want for 200.00 metal flake! We don't get much rain around here! Lol 😂 the train jump scene too! It's a red car!! !!! Under the red is yellow primer! lol 😂 n the welder guy! Trying to sell the guy the blue Nova! LMAO 😂 yes I know it basically all the lines it's on my top list because IAM a girl that loves classic cArs too thanks this made me lol I needed this today!😍😘😎
I love Kurt Russell and anything he is in. This movie is hilarious. Jack Warden is a good actor as well. This trip is fun!!! Thanks for the memories. Much love to you and Jah ❤❤❤🦁. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SIGNED GUITAR PICK!!! IM OVER THE MOON❤❤❤. YOUR THE ABSOLUTE BEST👊👏👏👏
Never heard of used cars but definitely going to check it out. Kurt Russell is one of those actors who just doesn’t do anything bad. His worst is still better than most.
I watched that movie several times when it was sort of new but until you started telling the story I had only really remembered the guy asleep with the torch in his hand and the guy shooting the "****" out of high prices. Another great Kurt Russell movie is Capt. Ron.
Jordan you were in my home town Mesa, still live here. I remember the car lot of where this was filmed on Main St, and the movie was entertaining as well. Your were not too far from the Mesa cemetery, I think you mentioned wanting to go see a famous country singer that is buried there, whose name escapes me at the moment, possibly Waylon Jennings. Glad you came to visit!
When I REALLY want to laugh...ROFL....I watch the clip of the "Test Drive." That causes tears in my eyes EVERY TIME!!!! "The Fuchs Brothers" were the best. RIP Jack Warden!!!!!
I love Kurt, but never heard of this movie!!! I was a mom of 2 young girls, an RN that worked 11-7, and a wife in the 80's. I admit good stuff passed me by. I will watch!! My favorite Kurt story is when he and Goldie were doing "Overboard", and she kept talking about how cold the Pacific was off the OR coast. His reply was remember how much money we are being paid....LOVE IT!!!!! She jumped without a problem!!
I did see the movie years ago and yes it was very funny. You brought back so many memories. This vlog is great and I love to hear you laugh, it makes my day. Thank you Jordan great job.
I been super busy and missed so much of your vlogs . Today is finally my Friday and catching up watching them on my tv . 🙏🏻 So much good content ! Keep up the good work and can’t wait to see where you go next !
Did anyone else notice the little skull on Jordan's necklace. The mouth on the skull kept opening and closing while Jordan was talking at the end of the vlog, so funny.
Dang, that movie was filmed just a couple miles where I live and work right now! That’s just down Main Street! …and I’ve never seen it- now I got to!!!
I have loved this movie forever and yet, Airplane! is my all time fave, so go figure. Love the bonus stuff on the DVD with cool trailers. Nice trivia, Jordan.
I agree. Any movie with Kurt Russell is a must see. When they did the mile of cars, the final car that made up the 1 mile of cars was a blue 1974-76 Mercury Montego MX 4 door. The guy driving the car has some fear of red cars and freaks out when he finds out that the car he is driving is red under the blue paint. Funny thing is that even though the fuel filler is indeed located in the rear of the car it is not behind the license plate. The is a door just above the bumper which is where the fuel filler is. Once you see that plate fall down and reveals the gas cap. You can clearly see that it is off center. On the 1972 and 73 Montego the gas door is behind the license plate. For 1974 Federal government bumpers required 5 mph with no damage. They also had to be a certain height. So starting in 1974 the bumper was lowered and a filler panel was put in place in between the taillights. That filler panel is where the fuel door is. The gas door is visible in the scene. Sw this and Airplane when they were out. That was a great summer for movies. Caddyshack, Urban Cowboy, Blue Lagoon. Just kidding on Blue Lagoon. It was out at the same time but nothing to write home about.
In November of 1978 I was hired as a Auto Body repairman at “Darner Chrysler Dealership “ Owned by Jowl Darner , this very site for this movie . I worked on the EDSEL that hit the pole , and the Mercedes that was shown before being replaced with an older model and then blown up ! The making of this movie ruined the sales and service departments ability to receive customers , so work died off and I had to leave and get a job at Scottsdale Datson in Scottsdale Az. I was never fond of the movie it cost me my job.
Super funny movie. Luke was buried in his favorite car, an Edsel. You're vlog's are incredibly accurate, I don't know how you put em together so fast Jordan. Great work!
Hey Jordan, great vlogs all the way across!!! PS, The executive producer was none other than Steven Spielberg!!! Me and my 83 year old dad have laughed our asses off for 30 years over this! Airplane was great, but that Yesir commercial is priceless!!!! ad was lol funny, we can’t breathe from laughing for thirty years, great bonding experience!!!!! AAAAA++++++
Thst is my brothers job in Hollywood He is calked trasportstion He scores alotta cool cars they use in movies and scores their trailers and chauferring too I finally just saw Her He did that Lotsa movies
Most underrated comedy EVER. Gerrit Graham steals the movie. "That's TOO F*CKIN' HIGH!!!"
It's a red car!!!!!!

My First husband worked for a car leasing company at the time and helped them find all those used cars. And thanks for my glasses.

Great flick. Filmed just down the road from where we live.
Me and my Mom went to Broadway and South Central Ave when they filmed the test drive screen. The Penny Pinchers building is now the Ed Pastor City Bus Terminal and the Central Ave Bridge now is under construction for the new Light Rail Train

I lived in Mesa in the early '90s. Neat place to visit.
...but hated living there
Sad they voted Democrat.

I remember being young and seeing Kurt Russell In the Disney 🎥 movie " worlds strongest boy". Kurt never made a bad movie 🎥 in my opinion 😎👊🤘
That is one of the funniest movies of all time. Watch the directors cut with Kurt, and the makers talking about it. It’s hilarious.
