I work at an airport cross dock for a package company. Great experience 👍 When the military starts drafting people to fight China and Russia in a few months, I'll be working at a military cross dock.
I agree. I beleive there more chances of damages due handling on dock. Often times, when not properly sorted, freight can be misrouted to wrong customer. If dock is also maxed out with freight, it can potentially lead to loss of freight on dock. Overall more handling brings about these in my opinion. I still love crossdocking but will like to see less handling but don't know how. I stand to be corrected as well
In large distribution networks, it is common practice for drivers to have established origins and destinations. Truck A is unloaded, the cargo is inspected and sorted, and then loaded to Trucks B And C. While this is happening, Truck A is being loaded with cargo from Trucks B and C. A trade of sorts. Truck A will then return to the point of origin with cargo. This reduces cost by reducing the trucks and drivers need, empty miles, and road expense such as lodging and per diem.
Depends on the operation. Cargo may be simply sorted into trailers or holding areas. More complex operations may have programmable conveyors to move goods from inbound area to an outbound area in minutes. One of the main points of cross-docking is NOT storing the goods at all. Moving goods from trailer to trailer.
Useful Info.
Background music is too loud.

@@danny745 that and it’s really just too much work in order to save truck space it’s modern day slavery even as a forklift driver
why dont we directly send the same vehicle instead of unload and reload to other ?

ok i just don't understand where are the goods stored before they are sent to the customer ?

Cross docking is often used in JIT manufacturing environments. In this use case, freight is going directly from suppliers to manufacturing plants
Background sound irritate
music is louder than the voice
music too loud I can’t understand
music is not useful
Why this background music?😡
