  • No.1 for 2 weeks on the Adelaide charts, No.50 on the top 100 national charts. Also performed on Aussie TV's "Countdown" on the same show as Simple Mind's Australian debut ("Love Song") and Men At Work's "Down Under". Recorded in one take and originally the B-side, until Daddy Cool/Mondo Rock's Ross Wilson heard the single being mastered and suggested RCA should make the b-side the a-side...so they did.

loved this single and cant believe i'm hearing all these years later...thank you LeonThe4th for putting it on! you ROCK! i don't think i've heard a cello (or double bass?) used so well in a pop/rock piece until The Sharp!

Yeah, The Sharp were great....I think "Scratch My Back" was one of my first CD singles. Hilary Frost was the cellist...different to a double bass....smaller too...she was classically trained....

WOW, that's what I call rare stuff!!
This question goes to anyone who stumbles on this nice gem here: did they ever release an ALBUM?? Rumours spread they did; but as he hasn't been visiting YT for 3 years, I don't think I'll get a reply before the time Biff is back from the past (2015 ;))

Yeah...they released and LP on WEA Records in 1983, self titled, then 3 singles from it, but this No.1 hit and the No.3 follow up 45 "Tears Of Emotion" weren't on the LP, though "Tears" WAS on the cassette version...
