Every story has a start, and to better tell the story of the weakening of the Han and the rebellions by the Yellow Turbans and the Liang Province in the Mandate of Heaven DLC, we must start in the year 144 when in the span of three years, four emperors would ascend the throne leading to a puppet government controlled by the powerful Liang clan!
thank you for letting me know about this series, I'm gonna start my binge!
Cao Cao:
- Children of Great Eunuch.
- "Loyal" to Han Empire.
- Recruit Yellow Turban as his army.
It look like he is the Successor of every sides from the 17X-18X period.
Im really happy with how much growth your channel is getting. You deserve it, man.
his channels attention to detail and upload schedule has made him my favorite history youtuber. Ive learned much more about chinese history from this channel than any other
饭Kevin Its unreal. His theory-crafting in Total wars is just insane. All the videos are dripping with information
Thanks you guys!
When an emperor dies…
Emperor’s child: Yeah! I am the king of the country! Yahoo! I can do whatever I want!
Regent(s): Nope, kiddo! I call the shots and I want you to stand in front and look pretty!
Child Emperor: Oh come on! It’s not fair!
Revisiting this video for a school project, this might be the chance that I recommend teachers a RUclips who mainly play games to show videos on classroom.
lol
I already know the history (somewhat) from playing Dynasty Warriors, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and Total War. I'm just here to enjoy your content and accuracy. I'm starting here!
Child mortality skyrockets being in the Imperial Court. Better quality of life, better chance of someone taking issue with your better quality of life. Thanks for the video.
I could listen to these history videos for hours. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Really love this video, can't wait for the second episode. Also I find it truly amazing how you can upload so much high quality content on a daily basis, keep it up dude!!!
Hell yea I'm first. Hope this links into the Big Dong Lore 8)
Yep! This series will run into the yellow turban and Liang rebellions
By the time of the 182-190 campaigns the Liang clan influence n legacy have been wiped out
By next episode, their clan would be wiped out
I love your channel, thank you so much for these videos
This shit is honestly just as much of a clusterfuck as the eight princes period. It truly wasn't a great time to be vying for the imperial seat at that time.
Keep the good work! i love this vedeo serie !
Tv lasts 10 yrs so after 400 yrs, I say we go shopping.
Ppl always complain about politics. I bet they were itching to kick them outta the palace.

I love your lore video especially this one. I only know that the downfall of Han began after the era of Han Ming Di and Han Zhang Di. Everything just went south for the Han dynasty from there, but I might understand wrongly.
Han Zhang Di’s son Han He Di was pretty decent too but both of their problem was dying too young. When Han He Di died his heir was 100 days old. That’s when you start getting problems. It wasn’t that the emperors were inept it was just that they were too young and gave the other factions a chance to gain real power.
Read Chen mou ravages of time. A great read for romance of three kingdoms fan
The Eastern Han was pretty much screwed wasnt it?
at 0:50 , there is a big mistake. Wang Mang wasn't a rebel and he didn't rebel. He usurped the thrown and other rebeled against him.
He was a regent that took over, but I guess rebel is probably not the best wording
8:16 which manhua that u got the picture of cao teng tho ?, the style reminds me of the comic about a guy who travel back to past and help Ying Zheng (?) become the first Emperor of China, but again most hongkong manhuas all got the similiar style anyway lul
I think it’s a work called 天子传奇七
@@SeriousTrivia so sad that it's only cover the early state of three kingdoms only, my favorite is part 5 :))
Sorry for asking a shit ton of questions but can you suggest some chinese sources you use as I only read english ones but i want to learn more and improve my chinese. pleas help a fellow foreign born chinese learn his cultural heritage 😭
I mean the easiest place to start would actually be Baidu which is like Wikipedia. They provide good summaries and you can easily jump from link to link to see how each character connects.
谢谢 🙌
hol up, you can play as the emperor in this game!
yep, I actually have a let's play series where I played as Liu Hong
You are a native chinese speaker right? your chinese accent very similar Taiwan accent or south china accent.
I am a native speaker. However, I am actually from Beijing, but I been living in the US for a long time now so my accent is pretty neutral and only comes out for certain words like 冰棍儿 lol
你可能是没怎么接触过南方人的北方人,听什么都像台湾
@@狂拽酷炫-o8m 哈哈,南北反了吧?
i wrote the following on cody bonds video of the accurate history of the mandate of heaven. copied and pasted to share here:
"sending unnecessarily large armies and maintaining costly fortifications in the western regions while the poor are taxed to revolt back in china proper. dong zhuo was probably one of these frontier military men who turned back with his men to wreak havoc.
but remember if the armies aren't sent abroad to expand china's interests then wouldn't they be fighting each other at home? remember before the establishment of the han dynasty china was mostly fighting itself with the chu-han contention and before that the grand unification of the feudal kingdoms under the qin.
it would be like say if the european nations hadn't been fighting amongst each other they'd be organizing crusades or colonialism etc..
but i do think that something went wrong with the system or perhaps the system wasn't perfect and wasn't meant to last in the first place. there was a little ice age, other natural disasters, among human errors or perhaps these two happened at the same time. nevertheless history is history.
by this point i think the eunuchs and the emperor were in cahoots with each other. when you say luzhi is accused of treason it probably meant that luzhi was a little proud, arrogant, and refused to pay homage to the eunuchs who were in fact agents working for the imperial household. which is why even though the han dynasty is the name given to china of this period and that the imperial household and throne belongs to the liu family but there are many other factions, commanderies, characters, and peoples within. and the imperials could have been seen as but one faction among many. and as such it will act with its own selfish means. the reason why the yellow turban grew to be so large and successful, and by successful i mean on the rise is because it captured, understood, was part of, and represented the interests of the greater majority at the time. which its leader like zhangjiao preached and represented.
how and why it became locked in a fight against everyone. namely at first when the yellow turbans turned the great poor masses against their master the emperor. the emperor had to call on the feudal lords who were more or less once on par with the imperial faction but were humbled as the empire was established. now they are called upon to defeat a faction of the people. the turbans became less successful and lost its importance at the battle of the red cliffs because since the core of cao cao's army was of the qingzhou army mainly from shandong which is a a northern region. they ceased to be militarily as well as ethically potent when they stepped to invade the southern lands without good justification. because once they were fighting for their livelihood and what they believed to be right but now at red cliff they were mere invaders in a foreign land".
Anyone know one song the beginning was?
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this year 2020 the same rotational year of the year of Jiazi in which zhangjiao started the yellow turban rebellion?
Haha as much as the plague seems to match up, the next Jiazi is in 2044. It is on 60 year cycles so it won’t be a year that doesn’t end with a 4
Serious Trivia by plague matching up do you mean the bad conditions in northern China during the late Han and covid 19?
@@tdbbe yep pretty much
Serious Trivia the current atmosphere can you sense it? Do you think there is something deeper to covid 19 than a mere contagious virus? I mean from a historical/ethical point of view. Like how the thing started and why
Max Meng I am a pretty simple person. It’s a virus and it doesn’t have agendas. It’s highly contagious but not extremely fatal which is the best combination for passing it on to the maximum number of people. We just all need to realize this and reduce the spread. If anything it shows how far behind the world healthcare system is in dealing with infectious diseases.
I what a Cao Ren video please.
I promise it will happen in the future but right now this series is priority number one with the Mandate of Heaven dropping in January.
Bit late but I gotta say, the music is really distracting.
Good news is that experiment ended pretty quick. Pretty much all the let’s talk lore are music free
