I just caught one of these off a New Jersey beach and it was slightly larger than this one and it was a good fight. First off: those who say he is dragging it by the eyes, he is not as those are his spiracles. Second off: those who say it took to long to land, it was a serious fight and it does require large tackle as they are very strong. Third off: they are highly overpopulating the Chesapeake bay and need to be controlled so don't get your panties in a bunch if he is rough with the fish.
Cownose rays are part of the eco system in the bay and can be managed without destroying the population. It is thought that a reduction of predators such as sharks has allowed the ray population ot increase. Ws cannot completely remove a species for the benifit of another. Man and pollution has ruined the oyster population in the bay. Over fishing is a huge problem that had almost killed the oyster, shellfish populations in the bay.
Dumb Comment. They're spiracles, which are modifies gills slits that allow the Stingrays to pump water across its gills when it is lying buried in the sand. Thank You.
this vids good till u drag the ray up on the beach by the eyes? really juss pick it up thats what i do. seems like u took forever to land it too. i may be wrong juss my observations
Freddy JimJim They aren't invasive, they're entirely native to the east coast. In fact, they were one of the first species recorded by naturalists on our shores. The reason for the spike in their population in recent decades is due to the overfishing of their main predator, large sharks. Think before you respond.
+scott walton Cownose rays are not bad for the bay. The destruction of the sharks that naturally control their numbers is what's bad for the bay. Just another irresponsible idiot ruining the resource for the rest of us.
dude i love this vid how you give us all the info and everything on how you caught the fish nice vid

Kind of a poor release. At least he released it, I guess...
Tigerpuffer rays are invasive in the bay. harmful to both oysters and crabs. release wasn't poor enough.

+Tigerpuffer its bad that it got released, most people just kill them immediately because they are bad for the bay
+Tigerpuffer shut up, just because they arent invasive doesnt meant they are not bad. they are very bad for maryland waters.
