From a British perspective this is fascinating. Never knew these events were a 'thing' in the US. Very surreal. America's relationship with its history and Britain's is truly strange. I've tended to think that its common for Americans to regard their history as starting when they 'kicked our butts'. Interesting to see that there is also a curiosity about exploring a little further back to our shared heritage. Come to think of it - why wouldn't you want to explore it? History meets Disneyland meets shopping mall meets cosplay. Weird combo, somewhat lacking in authenticity (British understatement) but fun;) I'm starting to see why Americans are so fascinated by seeing the 'real thing' when they visit London.
What's sad is most young Americans barely know any of our history. Half of them probably don't even know that we broke away and faught the Revolutionary War againt Britain. The majority don't know we stole the land from the Indians and Mexicans. Really, history isn't something that many people know; pretty sad really. All the 25 and younger crowds seem to know about is what the current internet fad is. But, back to the faire. It's a great time! A lot of fun, but, yes, I'm sure not close to realistic. Would be great to see a more realistic faire over in Britain!
Were not hsotile when it comes tot hat truly lol its just something funny we say around the 4th nobody really means anything by it, suprised YOU guys dont have a rennaisance festival. mabey because alot of your society stays rooted in alot of its heritage. In America , our heritage is ading. we have verry little things from early American days
Coors light, garlic pickle, turkey leg, wash it down with contraband Jack Daniels?? What a tangled web you weave. 😝😷🤒. Hope you didn't feel bad the next day LOL.
That looked like a lot of fun! I didn't realize how much cool stuff there is at a Renaissance Fair. I thought that hair jewelry thing Victoria put into your hair looked good too. The people working there were all so amazing, so I'll have to check out my local area to see if there are any fairs near me. Throughout the video I had managed to stave off my hunger, starting at that delicious looking turkey leg, but by the time you got to pickle girl I had to take a break and get some food. Now I'm hungry again after seeing those ribs *shakes fist*! Were they as awesome as they looked? I'm also curious about how well the new Osprey pack worked out for you? Please let us know. Thanks :)
SuperRaeth Thanks for the awesome comment! It's a blast! Awesome time and awesome people! I decided not to use the pack this day :( My cargo pockets were able to carry all I needed and I brought a little packable backpack (it's a 20l backpack that compacts and stores in a little attached bag that is smaller than a baseball). So, I just kept that in my pocket and if I had purchased anything large I could have used it. I only bought a couple small items so it all worked out well :) I will update on the pack as I use it!
this year will be my 4th time going to the bristol faire, but i cannot for the life of me remember the cost of things. how much would you say one person needs to bring in cash for JUST food and drink for themselves? can’t find anything on google about this in particular.
So I own a red ear turtle and the tank is right near my computer which is where I am at a lot of the time. So I read that you can get cancer from UV lightning so what should I do? I have no other place suitable in my room for the tank as it is decently big.
Is your light sitting right on top of the tank? Like on the screen? *Can't have a glass top tank, UVB doesn't go through glass well at all and turtle won't get what he needs. But, the glass should also protect you. So if your light only gets to you after going through water and glass, you are probably fine (I'm not a doctor of course, just telling you what I've heard). If the light is a little higher than the top of the tank (like for my bearded dragons tank it is probably about 6 inches up hanging off the wall); well, then I often use some tinfoil to create a barrier. I just shape the tin foil and have it hang down from the light to the tank, so the light isn't shining right in my eyes / onto me when I am in the room or looking at the tank.
imgur.com/a/h6TQv do you know how to stop this from happening? I have to keep scraping it off (btw sorry if the water looks dirty im cleaning it out today)
Hey! I recognized you on your way out on Saturday...too bad I didn't catch your booze on the way in :P (and tell your friend to put on some shoes! People drop all sorts of nasty stuff on the ground, I'll tell you)
My friend had the half pint :P And don't worry, we ordered and purchased plenty :) He had sandals on but one of them broke (strap pulled out of bottom). Bristol Ren faire is always a great time! Have a good night!
I love that movie. I don't think they have anything specific to the movie. But, they do have items that are similar. Some clothing and jewelry and such that are simmilar.
yes some jewelry and somethings like that are simmilar for that i ask you because i thought they have more things specific to the movie because i fell in love with that movie is my favorite one for that i Put a picture of jareth if you noticed lol. I was happy when I knew you liked the movie. thx earthling . you and your videos are cool and awesome im a big fan for a long time and do more videos about hedgehogs .
As a Brit, I've always been curious about these things, on one hand, they could be cool, on the other they could be commercial bullshit. I can see this is the latter, well, that saves me a trip LOL
It used to be really cool there in the 70's and 80's. Now as you say it is a commercial BS. I am sure that in your country ( if you still live there ) they have the best Ren. faires. Bristol used to be known as King Richard's Faire. i worked there a couple of summers and it was fun. More fun just to hang out there and party. It is too clean looking now, and the prices for food is over the top. The video made me feel sad.
Thanks for posting the video. Bristol is not at all like it used to be . It is too clean, the shop keepers do not use an accent, nor do the actors much. It seemed too quiet and not the usual music being played everywhere. The food costs too much. It is just not the same as when i was there and worked there in the Mid 80's or in the 70's. Must have so many ordinances now days. All the old actors that used to run the fair when it was King Richards are all gone now. Except Carol Black who you called the crazy lady, she is still there.
Times change. I wish I could have seen it in the 70's or 80's! But, I couldn't. That being said, it is still an amazing experience. Sure, it is probably different than 30 years ago; however, I still saw most people in character. There were people in all the shows, on the streets, at the shops, etc., in character. Have you been to this faire in the past few years? It's been a lot of fun and very entertaining for me. I suggest you go again and give it a try again! Try not to judge it based on your 30 year old memories and just enjoy it for what it is now.

Francesca Cimino I spend at least $60 on just food and drinks for one day.
Earthling1984 thanks for the quick response, and yeah, $60 sounds about right. lol.
