- Let's compare the graphics of the new Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut with the old (vanilla) Deus Ex: Human Revolution. What did they do and which version do you prefer in terms of visuals?
From the official website (www.deusex.com/...
"... striking visual improvements which make this edition the best looking and most immersive Deus Ex experience available."
The graphics settings are of course maxed out (Using MLAA, not FXAA) and identic on both sides - incl. the brightness.
...And by the way, this is an absolutely fantastic game! :)

I think this yellow color was it what makes this game so memorable
I know it made it stand out
It made it fucking ugly. I an playing on pc with yellow tint removing reshade(it still exists in directors cut, just more subtle. But still irritatingly there)
@@siegfriedfaust8425 Sounds like yellowist propaganda to me
"I never asked for this" in a deep raspy voice while wearing fancy shades with epic violin sounds playing in the background... is what made this game memorable.
@@siegfriedfaust8425 I don't understand why the hell you and some other fans prefer to have the bland and boring colors in the DC version instead of the beautiful gold color which made it look more dreamy and futuristic. I don't understand really but everyone has their own opinion. I just prefer they enabled an option on/off yellow filter and that's all. You and I would be happy in the DC version.
I personally liked the gold/yellow hue the original had, gave it a unique noir style.
That was also in the sequel, however, SE cut it, so it can look like the remaster.
@@agitouhd well, gold filter wouldn't fit mankind divided themes anyway
Wish they kept that Gold Hue, it was clearly hiding the visual shortcomings and honestly looked very classy, it wasn't like that green vomit filter in Fallout 3
The Gold filter was a vital part of the game and it's missing in Mankind Divided for a reason, in this game it's all about the Golden Era of augs etc, obviously in MD it's a very different story and augs are no longer seen as a ''good'' thing and that's why it's gone, you probably know that but it's such a great bit of storytelling right there just through a colour tint of all things. That Green vomit Filter in Fallout 3 was so annoying. Fellout is *the* best and most necessary mod in that game.
The Lone Courier yes, that's how I saw it as well, I'm still in two minds over Deus Ex though, such good art direction and gameplay, and the story is by no means bad, but by the end of MD I was really getting "We want a franchise vibes" even though I think the Augmentation argument ran out of steam, since it never honestly seemed like a "chaos in the streets over X issue" I also hope not every NPC talks to me about augs in the next game, I *WISH* everyone was that politically informed
aperturesciencegames Yeah haha, I haven't actually bought MD yet, I've seen a lot of gameplay so far and it looks great but I haven't got a lot of spare money at the moment as I'm literally *just* back from my holiday and there's a shit load of games out next month, but I did buy the Director's Cut of HR, not very keen on the lack of Gold hue as you said, sure the DLC flows way better but just not having the gold really changes the feeling of the game. Also I second the comment about Fallout 3's disgusting filter, Fellout is such a must have mod for Fallout 3 lol.
The Lone Courier Oh god fellout is so essential, you know I thought new vegas had a huge graphical update on fallout 3? it was actually just removing that shitty filter XD
aperturesciencegames Yeah, Fellout is pretty good damn important on New Vegas too, it removes that really stupid red filter on areas such as Camp Forlorn Hope.
I think they should make yellow filter optional in the settings. I liked how the game originally felt. A bit like a futuristic, transhumanist dream.
Is yellow filter really missing in this One? Because that was the thing i loved in DE:HR... Created so unique atmosphere to the game...
Makes the game look less "high tech". When I first played Human Revolution, everything looked so clean, and smooth and still holds up today in terms of graphics.
the only problem i had with this game are boss fights. made no sense. and the movement of the character. doesn't look or feel real.too flat and easy to lose aim and hard to aim on. running was weird. it was like the only thing is moving is the camera. but the yellow lighting was the best thing about it. they shouldn't remove the yellow filter. but they did.
I loved the yellow filter because it fit the tone and added atmosphere.
1. Take original game.
2. Uncheck box next to "yellow filter".
3. Check box next to "grey filter".
4. Re-release game.
5. ????
6. Profit!!
theres a lot more to this then just lighting
they changed the boss battles so now stealth is viable, they added new game plus, the dlc comes with it and it flows into the campaign (no menus), their is now a making of and an developer commentary
They added in a new game+ feature (something that the original DESPARATELY needed, and overhauled the boss fights so stealthy players (like me) could kill the bosses in a way that makes making a purely stealth character possible. Otherwise, a character that was made purely for stealth would be screwed over and royally fucked when having to face a difficult boss head-on
The yellow is still there just cut down by half. But still ugly
Grey filter? For me it's more of an ugly green filter. so ugly. I use a enb to make it look better
It's pretty hard to see the difference when the screen is split this way. I like the way IGN does it when they flash back and forth to show you the same image on both versions.
The orange oversaturation is less prominent.
In the end though, the Director's Cut is more an advantage in content. All the DLC, and the fixed boss fights. Unless you were a run-and-gunner who bought all the DLC, the Director's Cut is the version you want.
I have the DC version on Wii U. I'm loving it.
I'm guessing the graphics weren't improved _that_ much. I figured they probably put the high-end PC textures in or something. They've done that with Wii U games before, like Need for Speed U.
Could you give me video link?
The yellow is directly linked to the designer's art direction - a new Renascence, and this period had a lot of gold, which is, you know... yellow
the original looks better in my opinion.
Well The directors cut is The fucking wii version ported to PC so it looks worse.
@ZarexTV you mean for this game alone and also goodluck finding a yellow filter mod for directors cut
@@vroiderantas Actually, there are a few of them on Nexus Mods. I used this one for one of my playthroughs: www.nexusmods.com/deusexhumanrevolution/mods/4. It doesn't restore the old visuals since no mod can really do that, but it does a decent job recreating the atmosphere of the original.
@@vroiderantas The WiiU version and I played Both The original on Xbox360 and The Director's cut on WiiU. And The WiiU version has better graphics and Color :)
The new version looks a lot darker, i'm not sure I like as much as the gold/ orange glow effect. That effect of the original did not bother me and gave it a unique look even if it was devisive. An option to switch between the two would be sweet since it (seems) like the orange is just a filter.
So can you turn off the yellow filter in director's cut? The yellowish color was so classy in HR
no, it's just not there in the Director´s cut. It cannot be turned back on.
ok, that's sad to know :(. But the game is worth it? I loved HR, is one of my favourite games and i thought of buying director's cut, but now I see that the graphic improvement doesn't seem that much and they made the objectible decision of taking out the characteristic yellow...
It only offers for PC a new game+ and a more stealthy-approach to take down bosses without having to kill them. The main thing about this port was the Wii-U features and how it supported touch-screen though (which would probably explain the poorer visuals/textures).
it amazes me that some think that the lighting change is the only thing that was changed and that's what makes it the directors cut. the Boss fights have been overhauled the original felt like the combat upgrade was the only advantage at stopping them. now the stealth enhancement stand on equal footing when in a boss fight. The Missing Link DLC is now integrated in the main campaign instead of accessing it separately in the main menu. other DLC missions are included as well. New Game+ is also a welcome addition in the DC that should have been in the original to begin with. so is it worth it? for newcomers this is the one to start off in. to the fans this is a must if the lighting change has you butt hurt then that's just being a whining baby. and for $30 it's a pretty good deal.
The missing link is absolute trash and completely fucks with the flow of the game. Plus with the removal of the yellow filter and the actual graphics themselves worse it's unacceptable that a DIRECTORS CUT which should be the superior version is worse. Don't know how SE thought that was okay.
and here guys, is why we take it in the ass unlubed from companies lmao
"if he orders one from Page Industries" Bob Fucking Page :)
Just picked up on that
Just downloaded Directors Cut.The graphics was slightly improved comparing to Xbox360,where i passed original DE:HR.The controls are also a little better on PC.Hope I'll feel the same emotions,as 2 years ago.Great game!
Damn, I got the Directors Cut as part of super cheap Square Enix Humble Bundle, and I enjoyed the fuck out of it. But one thing that really dissapointed me was the performance. Didn't matter if I ran in at 1080p or 720p, High settings or low, I still got annoying stutters. If I knew the original ran better I would have just dropped 3 bucks for a g2a key on that instead. The Missing Link DLC wasn't bad... but it wasn't phenominal either, and I would have gladly sacrificed that for increased performance.
As for the color pallet... I don't think you'd ever notice a difference unless you watched a video like this. Yeah the tint is part of the theme of the game, but use your eyes, there's a little too much saturation in the original. You can especially see this on the character faces, they look nasty in the original.
Character faces still look nasty regardless, there's like very low resolution diffuse maps with high quality normal maps applied for the faces.
+southrodney performance issues can be solved by a registry edit (you can google that).
Just picked this game up yesterday for the Wii U and will be the first time I have played it. Hope I enjoy it.
I'm sure you will. It's a great game! Have fun. :)
I dont see any improved graphics.
***** And they did! :D Well, obviously not when u wrote your comment! :P
+Friedrich Steiner Much better textures easily noticable on characters' faces for example, better lighting, to say nothing of the new fantastic anti-aliasing in work (MLAA? Haven't seen the original version, don't know, what technologies are used there).
I agree! I played both versions and I can say Dir Cut has decreased graphics (especially environment textures), some graphics options dissappeared from the options menu, and it had far more issues with nVidia cards than original (it forces AMD optimisations even if you have NVIDIA - but that can be fixed with regedit - instructions are on steam forums). Weird thing when the game (obviously optimized for AMD GPUs) was originally released, it supported tesselation even though no graphics card from AMD of that time (namely Radeon HD5000 series) actually didn't have tesselation support enabled. And that made problems for NVIDIA users (artifacting). The Dir Cut release has added performance issues for nvidia users.
They simply tuned down the orange color, which btw I liked very much.
Soaring Wings but I liked the piss.
I really hate that there's no option to turn this back on. Not only does it look more boring this way, but the FMV cutscenes were not redone, and now they contrast harshly for an ugly presentation. This is super disappointing, and I'm upset that Mankind Divided will have even less of it.
That's a good point. (y)
Aqui estou eu, 8 anos depois 👏
Honestly most of the improvements come from when you play it on Wii U since they added a bunch of gamepad features.
The left looks sharper but oh so...orange!
The right looks so blurry...but also more natural!
Man i tried finding that background music EVERYWHERE!... For years.. And still haven't found it...
+KrAzZiiHaMzZii Michael Mccan's soundtrack can be found.
it can be found in mass effect 2.
I was led to believe there are also gameplay changes, on boss fights and such, is that the case? or is it just a pallette alteration?
Also is it true Directors Cut version is the Wii version of the game ? lol it honestly looks very similar to the engine of the Wii´s capabilities with that more foggy/bright hue and general textures.
Due to the Dir.Cut version out there and these comparison videos i havent been able to play this game yet since i bought it in a winter steam sale in 2011 or 21 lmao the videos have left me so jaded in which version to play. Which version should i opt for i dont wanna go into 2018 without playing this lol, is the "Desperate Measures" dlc mission included in the normal version on steam for the game or do i have to buy the dir.cut for it ? Also gameplay wise which one feels better ?
Desperate Measures is Mankind Divided DLC. The only extra content like that for Human Revolution was Missing Link, which is sewn into the main game in the DC.
Wooow fuck the director's cut! I love the color vibe of the original!!!
Honestly, I didn't even notice the change in colour until I saw the two side by side in this video, which is why I really wish people would stop throwing a giant bitch fit in the comments like a bunch of five-year-old children.
It's a slight difference of colour. Just fiddle with your TV's settings or something.
Its more about the textures and bugs. Director's Cut uses an older version of DEHR, so all the bugs and graphic problems are there. There's a comparison of the textures here: www.gameranx.com/updates/id/18961/article/deus-ex-human-revolution-director-s-cut-patch-downgrades-graphics/
If it's about textures and bugs, that's fine, if your criticism is valid, good. I'm just reading the comments here that degenerate into "I like/hate the piss yellow filter." >_>
RUclips comments: Where civility goes to die
+Kevin Striker QFT. Sometimes I wonder why I bother scrolling down.
It's true that there's minimal difference here, just a bit of evening out the jaggies. But from what I've read the real point of the DC was to put all the add-on content into one package (on Steam they launched as separate games), and to include stealthy options for the bosses (one of the biggest complaints levied at the original was that you couldn't avoid direct confrontation with the bosses). Still haven't checked it out (spent too much time with the original HE just a few months back) but it sounds to me like the slightly improved edges of the graphics were more an after thought than the other major reasons this "remake" was released.
Goldenkitten1 u mean aa? lol.
REven Sona Yeah, but the original game had aa as well. So I said that because if I'd said aa some jackass would've come along and pointed that out. The DC simply has better aa, but because of the above I just said evening out the jaggies.
Goldenkitten1
I'm actually dissapointed they didn't just have AA options like most games tbh.
REven Sona Well I believe the DC does in fact have graphical options (I haven't picked it up yet, but the Steam store implies as much), which would definitely make it the superior option for a PC player. I think the original didn't have it because it was primarily a console game that happened to get a PC port. A lot of console games that get last minute PC ports have underwhelming graphics options if they have them at all.
Goldenkitten1
Directors cut doesn't have multiple AA options is what I meant, its just on and off pretty much. And I don't think there is an option difference between the two. I haven't read about it.
Now that Cyberpunk 2077 has been postponed to September 17, 2020 I will play this game to fill that thirst :P Thanks for the comparison! :D
I like the Original Gold theme but only Director's Cut is available on Steam, got no choice... :\
deus ex game of the year edition (all dlc) + ENB filter + better bosses = director's cut
deus ex game of the year edition... thought its from 2000 :)
I LIKED THE ORIGINAL YELLOW/ORANGE FILTER :(
haha
*****
Who says I don't. 220 hours on steam and counting.
so when I first played the game I got so sick of playing it and I think it was because of the yellow tint. same way I got sick of playing Bioshock because of the stupid rippling effect when looking at the ocean through glass walls (it actually made me sea sick and that's something I don't get considering I used to go boating as a kid.)
I JUST started playing the directors cut recently just to see why I hadn't finished the game before and I found myself really liking the game all of a sudden. Then I realized the game didn't look as Yellow and Brown as the cutscenes, so I looked up comparisons and noticed they removed the yellow tint in the director's cut. I love it, but wish they would have touched up the pre-rendered cutscenes as well.
A lot of people complained that the Yellow Tint was what made the game great. I honestly think they're just trolling but if it's true then Square Enix should have made it an option in the graphics menu. I can see people wanting the Yellow Tint back after the intro sequence to simulate Adam's iconic "Gold Sunglasses" look when he get's augmented, but personally I think the game looks batter with natural and dynamic lighting over the Yellow and Brown Tint.
They should add an option to enable it or disable it. It is just a sepia filter.
Just got the Director's Cut for $5 on Steam-can't wait to play the definitive version of this masterpiece again :)
Me too.. waitin' to get the DL finished and then.. havin' a good time. :o)
I'm also thinking about to watch the making of first..
It's not the definitive edition, but I'm sure you still enjoyed it.
So the directors cut is just a colour change?
No, Graphics (and the color change) is just what this video tries to show. The gameplay had several fixes applied in the Director's cut - not least a rather succesful overhaul of the bossfights. :)
So the graphics are better somehow? I see them as almost identical, in fact I think I prefer the old colour.
I didn't like the yellow tint. Besides that, I really can't see any graphical "improvement" either.
but the gold tint is awesome! it's almost angelic... it's like when the FIRST weirdo fetus trailer came out, remember that shit? it's a fucking slick look, and i wish the Mankind Divided was a bit more gold.
What graphical improvement i dont see nothin. Plus the yellow color was sick. At least they should add some "colors switch" between blue grey green
I prefer the piss filter personally. Still doesn't stop me from buying the directors cut though, would like a change.
'piss filter' LOL
***** Yeah, lol, but it's true.
Complains about pissy color; Prefers it; Still buys the non-preferred one.
And the award for most contradictory person goes to...
It's been nine fucking years?! Fffffffuuuu.....
I like the older version because I prefer brighter things.
This video is not representative, I'm playing the game (Director's Cut) right now on PC, all options maxed out (1080p, 60fps), on a 32" Sony TV well calibrated, and it doesn't look dull/grey as it is on the video... in fact, I'm surprised how good the game still looks now, it may be not detailed has hell, but everything seems done with taste and still is pleasant for the eyes... nothing is better to test the real game, comparison videos are often quite irrevelant, due to many factors, what was the video made with, what machine was used, with what game settings, video compression which kills details and depth etc... then don't forget to properly set the gamma in game...
lmfao you play pc games on a shitty TV with low refresh rate.
Shut your fucking mouth peasant.
people are too hung up on graphics now, which is why we get so many games that look nice but arent half as fun as they were years ago, before they started all this dlc and microtransaction bs.
The gold atmosphere of this game,, is what makes this deus ex and awesome game but also elegant
Anti aliasing is better , Occlusion is way better and textures are slightly better either so no : Its not a grey filter
lol no, original looks more vivid, makes the textures stand out more due to the color saturation, the Director's cut looks pale and worse in comparison. Also no better anti aliasing or occlusion.
Am i the only one who Think it's better without the yellow filter ?
in my director cut game it stuck before enter to the elevator in the lab with the girl i can move the mouse but nothing more. Where are the patch for this ?? Im looking for that but I dont find
Ah, Dr. Reed. This is General Charles Barkley.
I have yet to play this game and was wondering if you think the directors cut is a good buy? I mean I enjoy both rpg and fps pc games. Would like some feedback if helpful. Thanks for the video and happy holidays
"pee colored hue"
Director's Cut is darker so that implies a more Cyberpunk atmosphere, I prefer that. Director's Cut graphics are better IMO
So the difference is that it's more blurry in the directors cut...?!
but what excactly has changed besides the orange filter being gone?
Dang. I thought that the Director's Cut had the yellow filter everyone talked about. Maybe F.lux threw off the color accuracy for me.
both look great
I have both versions and the yellow filter looks the same to me, dont know why the directors cut of this video looks blue. Shadows and ambient oclusion are way better on DC version i can give you guys that.
I didn't even know that there was a graphical difference to begin with. I just thought this added all the DLC and new stuff. I fucked up.
Director's cut is 2.99 on steam right now!
is Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut the same like normal human rev. just with better graph or something?
Jaggies seem to be less prominent on the non-piss filter version.
It's nice that it was toned down because holy shit was it over the top on release.
After playing the DC I can say I didn't enjoy it at all, especially because of that TML DLC and that annoying slow and constant DNA scan thing. I really did miss the gold tint, at first I didn't like it but now I do. However DLC or not this game is just way too short, I hope mankind divided is much longer and has the gold tint at least as an optional setting in the options.
I forgot about this comment and just found it by chance now. Well it looks like I was wrong on both accounts, but I did still enjoyed it somewhat, too bad I still had performance issues when I was only really one graphics card model behind the recommended.
The piss walls look way better but that might just nostalgia
And Dir cut textures are not as good as in the original game, and it had performance issues for people using NVidia cards! Original had better graphics overall! They shuld have kept the graphics untouched and only integrated the dlc's into the main storyline!
I already spent $5 Dollars on this, aside form grpahics What is the difference? Will I keep my saves from the vanilla version? Will It have the Missing link pack included? Additional Gameplay?
There are a few new items, a few new skills and reinvented/updated bossfights. You will not be able to use old saves. I'm not sure about the DLC Missing Link pack though. sorry.
RatherGeekyStuff Thanks, guess I wasted 5 dollars...
Missing Link is not only included but is actually integrated into the main campaign at the point it's supposed to happen. It also contains another bonus mission. Boss fights are altered/improved, and it's got an optional Director's Commentary. I think that's pretty much it.
Oh, and New Game Plus, which is pretty damn awesome and was a stupid omission from the original release.
i heard that Deus Ex - Human Revolution Director's Cut version has also all the dlc or some of it is it true?
***** awsome
blazegamesful You'll most likely get that with original Deus Ex: HR bundles as well, but the thing that sets Director's Cut aside from the rest is the redesigned boss fights and the fact that the DLC is integrated into the game itself rather than being a separate game.
Dojan5 oke
blazegamesful not only the dlc but extra ways to beat a boss for the stealthy gamers. the bosses were made by a different group other than eidos. in DX Mankind Divided, eidos will handle the boss fights :3
oke guys thank you guys for all telling me what the cut thingy does
so i im about to buy this game on pc... which one sud i go for, the normal version or the director's cut??
+Ketan Verma the main reason i chose the director's cut was for new game plus, apparently people are getting performance issues but i haven't had any as of yet. apparently the directors cut has some textures inferior to the original. with what i said, it's up to you
+thebiggeridiot Yeah textures were downgraded for some reason.
Davorin Jurišić for some reason they used on older version then developed from there and added new game+ to be honest even though graphically it is worse, with new game+ and an extra rechargeable battery, it means the gameplay has been improved (the bosses also had an upgrade or two
Performance issues are only existant with NVIDA cards.
FIX:
regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC and locate AllowJobStealing - set it to 0
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC\Graphics locate AtiForceFetch4 - set it to 0
Dam that music 😢 memories
The only noticeable difference is the HDR which is absent in DC so it looks a bit lifeless.
Director's Cut solo es màs oscuro... Casi que me gusta màs el original.
yellow filter vs dull black. original all day
dman the graphics got worse, they removed some lights and blinding effects wtf
Cyberpunk genre: the future is grim and miserable
Deus Ex: the future is yellow
lol, i have both games. i bought director's cut for the missing link dlc and the only difference in graphics is a post-processing effect... wow
Too bad the TML DLC is terrible though.
+Goo Log (Goolog) DC also has downgraded textures. It really is noticable in some scenes, but most of the time it's not a problem.
This is SweetFX, it's an external plugin that can modify the graphics for many games, such as Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, all Assassin's Creed games etc...
Is it true that the original game dosen’t have frame rate drops?
I'm my experience this is the case. Director's cut was stuttering everywhere and the original is perfectly stable
@@DD-fs9xt thanks for the advice
The director's cut is like putting Ray Tracing on an old game.
Just bought this on PC
Does this game still have fps performance issues on good rigs?
+TheSuperQuail Yeah. There is a registry edditing fix for that. Apparently the game was made for amd graphics and it installs some information for amd gpus into the registry that needs manual editing.
The only difference visually is that the dc has no yellow tint .-.
+Kevin Seemungal It also has downgraded textures. There are some scenes when it really gets noticable.
piss filter vs. gray filter? o.o
still have a gift copy on steam that says "Unknown package 11274", any1 wna trade lol? read that it's rare
Do not buy the directors cut if you are on the PC. Many textures are broken or stretched, all of them are lower quality than the original and the game generally now looks terrible. This video is not a good comparison
You need to use the guy´s custom config file though.
So less of that piss yellow filter? Nice
hmm i got the director cut -_- its a shame that there is no golden tint hell i might call the company and tell them to bring it back
I really hated the yellow tint. Futurism is green, not yellow, ffs.
I don't think the future comes with any super annoying color filter.
Setsuna F Seiei
It does, and it's blue.
Looks like they just used a classic "cinema" colour grade.
Okay, the new version is darker. So I payed 4 €uros for a darker version. And to get people talking during I play. GRRRREAT :/
that looks golden filter vs low brightness
I only see them sweatier. Is that the new enhanced particle system? Hahaha
Idk what kind of kush people that say DC is downgraded smoke
Do you shold a buy this game?
lol
do me should english classes?
So what they added a grey filter? Looks shittier.
actually they removed the "gold" filter of the original
Actually, they did none of those... I'm playing the game right now, and I can tell there's absolutely no grey filter, actually, if you asked me to tell which one describes the game I'm playing, I'd choose the left portion of the video...
They're the same, you can turn off Post Processing in the original 2011 version.
should've watched this before buying the director's cut. :(
Color correction damnit
The Original is brighter, lets you see things easier. The Director's Cut is more vibrant, with greater details for shadow.
I was looking at the left and liking it, thinking it was the Director's Cut. Seems to me I don't like what they did the Director's Cut.
original looks better, director's cut looks like "looking through a dirty window".
i bought the director's cut, then realised how fucking collossal the files were :(
was anti aliasing not invented when this vid was made? Mine looks way better.
Uh.....so they just fixed the graphics and didn't you know, add the rest of the fucking game?!😂
original hue is far better wtf man. I played the original 2011 release
No it means the stupid yellow/golden tint is gone. Yay.
