1990s were pretty wild. They had movies like Baazigar, Darr, Khalnayak and people just saw negative characters as negative characters.

My thing is, SRK’s character was never glorified in Darr and they actually killed him off in the end. He was portrayed as a villain - and rightly so.

@@jasminearora1941 and that might still happen in Animal, Ranbir's character might get killed. You have just seen part one, credits scene shows its going to be a multi-part saga. At the time of Darr, there was no concept of creating a sequels so they had to end the narrative. Filmmaking has evolved with the times we are in, they are fleshing out his descend more than they did in Darr where srk was already a negative character right from scene one. They have shot the character in a stylized manner not glorified it. What glory did you find when his wife is leaving him at the end, he has made more foes than he started with, his sister hates him and he never got his father's love in the end that he craved. The character has lost everything on emotional level is what is shown, and that is much more impactful than a glorious death that srk had in baazigar. Baazigar had srk kill of 3 innocent lives just to hide the truth and execute his plans, and yet no one cared then, infact the movie sympathizes by making kajol cry at his death. Ranbir in Animal kills several hired assassins and murderers, none innocent and all were equally interested in killing him or his father yet the outcry

I didn't love the movie and I didn't hate the movie. It was just a mixed bag for me. It was mainly screenplay issue for me especially in the 2nd half. It feels like the first half is written and edited by somebody else and second half by somebody else. Just feels two different movies. People who think this is a violent movie IT IS NOT. It's just heavy amounts of blood to which I think Indian audience is already immune to. It's more of a drama movie. The movie missed the gore which is shown very well in our own Indian show Mirzapur. When you are butchering somebody at least cut their hand off and show some of the insides coming out. Bobby Deol came so late that it felt like there is no point of him so all the build up created for him didn't have a payoff so you feel disappointed at the end AND, when you slowly cut somebody's throat then you chop their head off or at least cut it halfway. The Abbas Mastan twist for the affair was funny would have preferred if he was just physically attracted to her because then you really could have shown that he has just become a deranged animal with no sense of right or wrong. Overall Ranbir's character just didn't BREAK BAD for me. If you know you know.

This is high time someone is brave enough to bring that difference in our movies. Otherwise we'll keep watching those masala fest all the time. Or we stick to one genre at a time, either masala, or patriotic movies, or small town comedy message movies from Ayushman, etc. We as an audience deserve a range of movies.
This is the first step to tell our audience what A certificate means. If more such makers come out to make more adult movies, eventually filmmakers would start making movies to their optimum potential.
This movie has taught us that people can also enjoy a 3 and half hour movies without any intro song, or item song. Makers need to make our audience understand that there are more genres of movies which could entertain us. Songs are not the only mode to enjoy a movie.

Mtv uses vulgar language and shows to retain audience attention. TikTok insta has soft porn content to retain audience attention. This Banga director learnt how to hold attention by making tatti and he’s doing it quite well. He’s as good as mtv, TikTok, roadies, insta, splitsvilla. He will make money and audience will get cheap thrills out of it. Let’s not give him anymore credit than what is due. If his film career dies, he can start some vulgar show on mtv and make money.

I did watch the movie, and talked to many people about the movie to know their opinion, and as expected, got totally opposite opinions. For me personally, both the praise and criticism are justified on some levels. For acting, songs, action, story, the movie is very good and should be praised. Yes the character is misogynistic, but I would totally expect an animalistic psychopathic character to be misogynistic. If a person is not even flinching while murdering 200-300 people at once, of course he wouldn't treat anybody around him nicely either. I'll personally criticize the film for not exploring the father-son bond properly, not giving Bobby Deol much screen time and not expanding upon the family history and rivalry. On the other hand I also can understand the criticism as well. Women face unfair treatment and misogyny on a daily basis in our society, sometimes by family, or outsiders, while on public transport, or even online. So when you unapologetically show these scenes on screen it gets triggering. The problem is that in some particular scenes it felt as if Vanga is adding those scenes just to trigger the female audience and critics and it has nothing to do with the overall narrative of the movie. this is a very petty behavior. If you need to show something for the advancement of the plot of the movie then go ahead and show it, please don't just do to trigger people.

People just need a reason to hate and complain now a days. if people actually cared about women empowerment and respect for them, they should have focused more on Meghna Gulzar who made Sam Bahadur.. She is one of the very few female filmmakers in our country who is consistent and successful, pretty sure it is inspiring for future female filmmakers. They should have helped Sam Bahadur make more money but instead they decided to focus on a movie about a fictional violent character rather than a real life soldier who worked for this country all his life. i"ve watched both movies on day 1 and loved both of them. if people are getting inspired by Animal and not Sam Bahadur, the problem is within them. Bahubali literally showed a head cut off from body...and it was 13+ movie......
Ooh!...and didnt Gangs of waaeypur, mirzaputr, mrinal talkies showed....mens genitals being cut?? was anything remotely comparable shown in animal?....ooh....also Mirzapur and Mrinal talkies actually showed it as 'no big deal' and as something comedic.

They first encouraged neutral viewers to watch this movie and now these viewers came and questioned their review . These guys got offended and made two videos without even accepting their mistakes that they didn't review this movie criticially . That gesture from shubham made me feel disappointed not angry and now i feel like their review videos are not to examine the movie but clout chasing for views . Guys I don't think the punishment of character in the end, is the issue here. Imagine one makes a movie, in which the protagonist is shown stalking and sexually harassing women for the 90% of the movie, **to romantic or casual background music** and then in the end the director just throws in a scene or two in which the rapist is murdered or caught by police. Does that negate the effect of the 90% of the movie where sexual harassment is shown in a lighter way ? Clearly the director wanted to get the audience to voyeuristically enjoy that first 90%, and just added the redemption part as a token.
So, the issue with Animal is not that the hero was not punished, but is with the treatment of certain scenes by the Director. Let's look at the whole infidelity scenes. We are getting a romantic song by Arijit singh in the background, while the Hero is cheating. It subliminally sends a message that cheating is alright for Alpha males.

The difference between Animal and movies like The Kashmir Files, Gangs of Wasseypur etc. is that Animal glorifies violence, while the other films show violence in a bad light. When you glorify violence and show that it’s cool to be an anti-hero, then people get influenced with you, specially if you’ve a next gen superstar doing all that. When you show it in a bad light like The Kashmir Files, then it generates a feeling of disgust against violence inside you. Amir Khan once said in an interview “A mediocre director will use extreme violence and sex to sell his movies, and it sells. He doesn’t know how to create situations, generate emotions in people’s mind”.
And no Shubhman you’re not tolerant at all….agar tolerant hote to ye video nhi banate!

The movie is good, but the hype created around it doesn't match. Here are some points:
1-The dialogues in the film are quite mediocre, with some being of low quality, resembling underwear-type dialogues.
2-The length of the film is an issue.
3-The movie was advertised in the trailer as focusing on the father-son relationship, but it wasn't explored well in the actual movie.
4-Many elements in the movie seemed fictional, but it's a movie, so that's acceptable.
5-The film didn't show any angle of the police or media. In this country, wealthy individuals are quickly targeted through politicians and the media, but this angle wasn't portrayed.
However, the film has excellent acting, good action, and enjoyable music.

Just watch this movie with the idea that it's about loveless, disrespected, unaware, not validated adolescent who never grows up to be a real MAN and is still stuck in their own mind and somehow trying to justify it by being ALPHA but on the ground level he cannot resolve his daddy issue ends up being a person who don't protect his family rather his family needs protection from him leading to everyone abandoning him at the end. So long story short being ALPHA is just stupid, and if you justify his behaviour you should contact the therapist ASAP coz you might be suffering from some unresolved issues. Ranbir Kapoor is a good actor tho....and Vanga is more like a rebellious child who's like ek biscuit khane se mana kiya toh pura pack khaunga(needs to focus more on craft than on being diverted)...story line is average, action is top-level..and that's the review

N my opinion this was actually a more progressive movie than Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh, because the female lead actually takes a stand for herself and doesn't easily take bs from the guy. In Kabir Singh Kabir ultimately gets what he wants, whereas in Animal Ranvijay pretty much loses everything he fought for, and Gitanjali leaves him as well.

The movie was average at best. Yes, there are flawed stories which deserve to be told. But somehow the dialogues like ‘lick my shoes’ and ‘you girls get tired changing your pads for 4 times a day complain so much’ and many more somehow not valid, and triggering for many. The second half was pathetic, screenplay was random and incoherent. And you calling it RK’s best performance is also a bias. The same RK who delivered movies like Barfi, and even Jagga Jasoos, can’t be called brilliant for portraying someone in Animal. Yes, he had the thing to pull off the batshit crazy, chauvinistic machismo and he did. But by no means his best. When focusing on criticism, you guys should also focus on the constructive criticisms given, and not the biased ones. Make a video on the legit criticisms and then discuss. If you call movies like Pathan average because of a weak story and a star’s ability to pull audiences, Animal is also on the same lines 🤷🏼‍♀️ RK is colossal as the testosterone-high freak but that’s about it. And yes, music is good no doubt. But well, it is disappointing coming from you guys defending a movie so controversial in every way, but not discussing the problematic aspects. You cannot deny that the movie is not problematic. And you should discuss that as well. No one is telling Vanga to stop making movies, but if he has it in him to make such movies, he should have it in him to sit through the repurcussions as well :)

If that would have been the case of SAMbahadur flying high against the Animal I dont think so your review would been exactly same. You can't let director escape out from this disaster as he makes the movie based on the response he had received on last movie if that would have been positive so it gives him a motivation to make such things again and much bigger scale. Postive example is Kantara director Rishabh shetty and negative examples are many.

Jis Subject pe ye movie bechi thi.... Father Son relationship pe.... Usi relation ko established karne k liye koi bhi storytelling nahi hai... Even Ranbir Kapoor Ka uske khud k bachcho k sath koi bhi moments nahi dikhaye hai.... Bobby deol jab villian tha iska main... Uski kahani to achche se established karni chahiye thi..... Poor storytelling... Aur tripti dimri ka role to hona bhi nahi chahiye tha movie me koi sense nahi banata

Yeh video acha h, I liked it. Lekin ab honest reviews ki history mn jaaye toh recently kitni movies ko tum logon ne bhi criticise kiya h on woke talking points. Ki kisi ke color pe kaise jokes maar sakte h, kisi ke weight pe joke nahi maarna chahiye, jaise Fukrey 3 mn African lady se choocha bulwa diya pe tumne 2 minute ka gyaan pela tha.
Bhai hypocrisy bhi koi cheez hoti h, aaj tum Animal ko creative liberty pe defend kar rahe ho, kal dusri movies ko karna, ho sakta h tumhe Fukrey 3 ka joke nahi pasand aaya ho, lekin aur log hasse ho. Basically isme Ranbir h toh sab chalta h, baaki mn toxicity, racism aur sexism dikh jaati h Shubham ko😂
Btw, I enjoyed Animal, anyone can make a movie on any topic, dekhna h toh dekho, nahi apne paise bachao, bas social media pe gyaan mat pelo🙏

I gave this movie this movie a negative review because I genuinely didn’t like the movie. It was a Race 3 level movie mixed with violence and gore plus some K3G. Character arch of the protagonist was pretty linear to be interesting. So when he became so unhinged, I wasn’t surprised at all. If the development was gradual it would be much better. The father son dynamic could be more developed. And his madness should have come with some greater losses . The conflicts were not developed properly, the villains were not fleshed out. They were trying to make the villains nasty towards women as much as they could just to gloss over his views regarding women. The protagonist is crazy but he has some underlying sangskar just go, root for him. These are some lazy writings. To be noted I don't mind violence in movies, Korean thrillers dekhne ke bad ye sab dudh aur pani jaisa lagta hain. I didn’t mean saare Korean thrillers acchi hain. I just wanted to establish that I can handle violence and still hate Animal. Watch Jeffrey Dahmer, which proves that even linear character can be made interesting with good making.

I am actually not upset that you guys posted this video since it’s clear that you are catering to your majority audience. But I just feel shocked that not only did u LOVE EVERYTHING about the film but also are wearing it as a badge of honour. In your previous video of dunki review you called out people for defending the trailer too much, which you seem to have been doing clearly in this video. I used to really find you guys’ humor harmless funny even if it sometimes leaned towards being misogynistic at times. Anyway I know by now that maybe you don’t even care personally about any movie that much and clearly form views according to what your majority audience wants. So kudos to earning more views for the channel and merely selling your soul! 😊

If anyone has seen a punjabi film series named 'Shareek'. Animal is nothing but a hindi version of that film where cousins are fighting with each other over some nonsense that their fathers and grandfathers were not supportive to each other. No one is willing to step back. Instead of talking about the main plot for the series people are divided over a different topic.

@@cindrellamainali1397 1. Her wife herself is a grey character & isn't like the typical bollywood female character who is either too good or too bad with nothing in between.
      2. On the karvachauth night she bursts in anger & after a long argument finally decides to forgive him. But after having some time to recollect herself after the incident & not being able to forget about the infidelity, she eventually decides to leave him. And at the end her leaving him is still kept open as she sees her son being embraced by Ranveer. I feel this portrayal of the whole situation is extremely realistic.... probably one of the most realistic things about the movie outside of the birthday sequence between the family members.
      3. The movie is supposed to be problematic as it is about problematic characters. It would be naive of us to expect idealistic elements out of a movie filled with such characters. It would feel inorganic if the characters & their actions weren't problematic.
      4. There are many elements in the movie that genuinely deserve criticism, but the treatment of women or any character for that matter is not one of them IMO.

I watched Sam Bahadur in the first week and Animal in the second week and that too in London.
Since the first week I noticed the huge crowd that came for Animal, so yes the problem lies in people’s choices and not in the makers. Sam Bahadur hasn’t earned even 100 cr until now, then who is to blame?
But I would like to say that Animal worked due to the hype of controversial scenes(most of them are not that shocking when you watch the whole movie, believe me)by the media, critics and viewers, and a few action scenes, though the story isn’t great at all.

    A few things about Animal:
    1. Ranbeer's character recruited his cousin cum body guard just to sing songs on his back and walk behind just to cool. Not to protect anyone.
    2. When Ranbeer's brother in law was the main suspect, even though he was not careful at all. His brother in law casually talks about murder plan of Ranbeer's father without any hesitation.
    3. Ranbeer's sister studies in a very middle class college while they are the freaking richest family in India.
    4. Ranbeer has divine vision. He just knew Tripti Dimri is a mole within seconds.
    5. Machine gun to be used after wearing headphones, but he wears headphones just to use a regular gun then while using a machine gun he doesn't wear it.
    6. Lord Bobby's brother and his people are just watching Lord Bobby's head getting detached from his body, didn't try to save him even when he is dying.
Best or only good thing of Animal is marketing of the film.
