When I was in 76-96 thieves got their asses kicked. No one said anything about it.

On my ship, the berthing experience was different based on your rating /division. If you were with the boatswain's mates, snipes, or cooks, stuff got stolen a lot. The compartment also smelled of BO. In the Ops divisions, the compartments were clean and didn't smell.

In 1965 when I was onboard the 'Bonnie Dick' (USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31)), we had 'more space' in the enlisted men's berthing;-we were a bit less cramped. But we did not have curtains in berthing areas. And there were 'no doors on the toilet stalls' in the enlisted men's head. I have no knowledge of anyone stealing when I was in boot camp, or during the 3 years and 8 months I was onboard the Bonnie Dick. I was never concerned about any type of thievery. Several times while on the BHR, I went off and left my locker unlocked and open. Each time when I returned, my wallet and everything in it, and the entire contents of my locker were just as I had left them. I always had the top rack. So, no one ever touched my rack. And, as a matter of respect for others I never touched anyone's rack. We did not have overalls; but 'we looked better' in our bell bottom dungarees. :っD Ha-ha-ha! Only once was there a guy who did not shower regularly;-a chunky seaman boatswain mate. Two other seamen grabbed him to throw him into the shower, but he was a chunky guy and too strong for two of them. So they went and found two other seamen. Then, all four of them grabbed him and threw him into the shower fully dressed, shoes and all. All in all, I think the Navy was better in 1965.

I was an HT 76- 80, I was on AS 32. I see the racks are improving, we had transom lockers. The head is better, all the toilets aren't clogged! I recall though blue tile was officers area. Not anymore? Fair winds and following seas mates.

I am flabbergasted that people can get away with such undiscipline like stealing your rank pins in a military branch that is supposed to teach discipline.
That and the inconsiderate boots on your bed, among the other things.
You're supposed to be brothers in arms on that ship.

Hi! tks for video! Could you tell me one thing about the life abord, please? Do Navy ships have vending machines room? If so, is it working well? (I ask because the ship shake and have salt corrosion ...) Thank you!

    • @jackyescobar748

The vending machines work but at the end of the month they do an inventory check so it’s down for a day or two. But the ship store is open also but will be closed at the end of the month for the same reason.

Should I say? When I was in, it was not a homeboy Navy. But that's me, right? // What's with the stealing? Unbelievable lowlife kids' stuff. But unfortunately, there was one thief in my division on my first ship, an embarrassing drag. So make the most of it. // There was other stuff going on, though, and so we were not "the greatest generation", either. Thought I'd throw this out.
