      That's sick! Yeah so tricky rt...the board the way you surf, the wave and your weight has so much to do with it. Glad you found your perfect fin template.🤙

    I have them too, the JJF and the AM2 Carbon, I think the JJF are drive and connect well from the bigger waves start but overall its not good, the AM says be an expert in quick starts and bigger waves but once in the ramp it is good, can open carves and switch 7pm to 12pm fast as a ratt.

    I heard john say the older blue and yellow ones have a nicer flex compaired to those new ones. I have the medium blue and yellow ones which i like. I have a few older sets and have added some extra glass on base on rear to try get more drive. I've just added more on front also so the base is wider for drive but hopefully still easy to turn compared to lage as smaller tip.

      Whoa interesting... don't quote me but I think Futures was saying that John John's next set of fins are going to be made out of the carbon vapor core because he likes the response on those fins and the lightness. So that'll be pretty sick. But who knows how far off into the future that will be.

    Those JJF fins are made for head high + in Hawaii not knee-chest I don't even pull out my jjf unless it's solid 1ft Hawaiian (true 1ft overhead) or bigger cause they don't flex and they aren't meant for pumping down the line. Those fins are meant to hold at high speed on waves of consequence not this lil beach breaks. So many people try and use the wrong equipment for the wrong situations and then get upset cause "they don't work" for them (being the key). My take is play around with your stuff and find the boards and conditions they work best in there's plenty of options out there's I try not to pigeon hole myself with my surfing switch up your boards and fins 🤙🏽

      Vapor core F8 coming next. The Am2 and Pyzels large are my two...occasionally the wade Goodall by Captain Fin

      💯 agree. I got the mayhems for my sub-driver and did not like them at all. They felt way too tight and stiff. I have the jordy future template similar to the AM2 and love them for the sub-driver.

    Where does the F8 fit into fins recently discussed? Would it be between the Mayhem and JJF?

    • @used_surf
      @used_surf  11 месяцев назад +1

      Its actually not as loose than either one of those. It has a little more rake and a fatter tip than either one of those. We are working our way loosest to stiffest so soon we'll be covering the f8. either this next episode or the one after.

    Great video! I live in Hawaii and prefer the John John Techflex out of all the fins that I tried. I think the board that you are riding and the wave makes a big difference in terms of fin selection it is kinda confusing to be honest. @Josh Norcross I am interested in trying out the Captain Wade Goodall fins what type of wave and board have you tried these with? Thanks again for taking the time to make this awesome video. Very helpful! 👊✊🤙🏻

      Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Yeah so many variables sometimes it's tough to zero in on the right fins. I’ve been riding the wade goodall fins in my standard shortboards when the waves are a little bit bigger and have a little more punch. They are a little smaller than my standard AM2’s but they make up the difference in construction due to the stiffness. Definitely a good fin for the waves in Hawaii. I’ve also ridden them in my step up boards and they’ve felt really good, lots of drive and hold on critical drops.

      @@used_surf Thank you for the feedback. I will be ordering the Wade Goodall fins to try it out. It looks like a very interesting fin.
      I think I prefer stiffer fins in general. I tried DHD Large Honeycomb fins, HS1 Generations Series fins, Al Merrick Twin + 1 fins,
      and 2 other Futures Honeycomb fins but they just didn’t feel right. Then I ordered the John John Techflex fins and Surf N Shows
      NVS P-Twins+1 fins which are both relativaley stiffer fins and they just worked for me. Hopefully the Wade Goodall Captain Fins
      work for me as well. I can’t wait to try them out 😎😊👍🏻
