Kind of depressing you need to spend a thousand dollars to get good 1440p performance in AAA games these days but I’m not sure what else I was expecting
Appreciate the video. Nice to see performance videos with actual in-game footage recognizing the importance that frame rate performance can change depending on what is happening in the game. We can't completely trust the videos that just show averages and graphs because we don't know the full picture.
Awesome review Kryzzp! I'm really glad you mentioned that even at 4K (with some compromises, such as high settings & DLSS Q) the 4070 Super would be an acceptable/good option and save $400!!!
Kryzzp, before you disable the non-3d-Vcache CCD, you should check if you do even get worse performance by default. AMD's software has come a long way and if the game is CPU intensive (like Minecraft), more cores can sometimes benefit it.
In all the games I tested I see a pretty big improvement when I do that :) Some games have massive gains like CS2 and the Finals (although the difference in the finals is only noticeable at low settings)
If only this card would cost $850 or less and not $1000, I would consider buying it. I guess I'll just wait for either a price drop or a second hand 4080 Super.

Performance is identical to regular RTX 4080 for 2 Benjamin's less. I totally agree that 4070 Super also has the chops to get good frame rates. Good stuff zWORMZ!

In GTA 5 tests, disable those bars in the advanced graphics option. They demand a lot from the CPU and directly affect the GPU performance analysis in this case.

Adjusted for inflation, the 1080Ti would be launched at $895 in 2024. The 4080s being $100 dollars more with similar performance to 4080- puts into perspective a bit better. Easier to chew on- but still suboptimal.
Yeah, when i was building my first rig last year i went with the 4070ti. GPUs are definitely overpriced, but i felt it was the best for what I wanted out of my PC and what i could afford. The 4080 would have been nice, but $400 more was asking for too much compared to what i got. If it had only been $200 more i definitely would have been willing to go for that because i would have seen it as a better deal over the 4070ti and 4090. Better performance over 4070ti, but not as outrageously expensive as the 4090. I'm happy with my current setup though, so i can't be too upset. Though prices do need to come down.

Hi! I think I'd upgrade the CPU first, the 2080Ti is still pretty strong, it should be as fast as a 4060Ti but with more VRAM. The 3700X already bottlenecks it in some games, so upgrading the GPU first won't make that big of an improvement imo. I'd upgrade to a 5800X3D on the same motherboard, and then if you still want more performance, 4070 Super is a great value card (it's 5% slower than the Ti, but much cheaper). If you want more, I'd spend the extra on the 4080Super instead of going with the 4070Ti Super
If you have an old cpu, play in 4k, because that will increase the gpu usage more. Joker entertainment made a video about this. Where he tested a 9900k and a 4090
As an Aussie 🇦🇺 myself, I say, let the Super lineup rot on shelves here and save $100’s AUD on purchasing the non-Super models. With an average $300AUD price difference and often much more, purchasing the RTX4080 non-Super model and if necessary just overclock your cpu and get a bigger performance boost (than the 4080-Super) , is a no brainer if you’re after a new RTX 40-series GPU🥰💪👍
People should wait for later this year, since we're probably getting the 50 series soon😂that way you can probably get 5070 or 5070 ti at the same price as this card while also getting a new version of DLSS and probably a better raytracing gain

The GC575 & the new Avermedia 2.1 something have been in the market for a while and whilst they don't record 4K 120 FPS they can passthrough such res. & framerates if u were wanting to play with such settings. Then again, to my knowledge and memory, there's gonna be a new one for Avermedia releasing sometime this year & Elgato's releasing *two* ... tomorrow. If ur at all interested :)
Hey Krysp. I just wanted to inform of something I have noticed on the 7800xt i own. With cyberbug on steam deck settings and the resolution just before 4k. so 3200 x 2000 or whatever it was. You can get some really good visuals to performance. close to native res but 20+ fps difference for me.

I'm struggling to see the value proposition here. I now own a 4070 Ti S which i've given a stable overclock, gaining on average 8% (stock to OC) in cyberpunk (despite me being slightly cpu bottlenecked) which puts this 3-4% behind the 4080. This seemingly places the £779 4070 Ti Super 4-5% below the 4080 Super by using the stable OC, as opposed to the £999 4080 Super or the £1199 4080.

Nvidia manage to make a 1000£ GPU Normal now. None of these GPU do impress me. This is why I'm still going to wait 1 or 2 more generations until performance is substantial.

Got a 4080 on the way…the last card I’m buying is the 4090 once the 60 series releases…by then the price should b much lower and it should set me straight theoretically for the next decade for my 1440p needs….and with the DLSS and frame gen it should really last
Just a small tip for those interested in Avatar. The DlSS implementation is a bit broken. What a coincidence that it is an AMD sponsored title, surely that had nothing to do with that…. However there are mods to add the DlSS dll file with a depth of field fix that as usual , is better than the FSR option.

Watch the Idris Elba trailer again for Cyberpunk. That's *Hollywood lighting* but with next-gen textures. But that's the lighting in Cyberpunk RT Overdrive available right now ( I own a 4000 card ). Save for the RTX 5000 cards. Even a 4090 is whack at a laughable 20 fps 4K native.
I impulse bought the last TUF 4080 super in Canada at MSRP, was told there is no more shipment before chinese new year. Its such an over kill for my pc tho, I don't know if i should return it or keep it...
It's a ok deal but there's plenty with more performance but little more money like a GTX 1060 6gb, GTX 1070 , rx 580 8gb and 590 8gb just look around more and if you have more to spare there's the infamous Rx 5700XT that's in most cases used under $160

Hope somebody sees this. I want an absolute god card for 1440p that handles EVERYTHING not just gaming. I'm deciding over the 4070 ti and the 4080 super.
4k looks amazing but until we can get games like cyberpunk high to max settings at 120 fps 4k with at least quality level upscaling on at least 500 to 600 dollars GPUs 1440p will still be the best option and sweet spot for pc gaming.

A super card should atleast be at 120 fps even in extreme conditions in 4k. Unfortunately that gpu has not been created yet. Do you guys, think that the 5090 will be that gpu?

I don't get why everyone is crying so much over these newer cards. They definitely have a worse price to performance ratio than the older generations but the rate of technological growth is slowing down so obviously we won't be getting more performance for the same price. And for people saying "sad you need a 1000$ card for 1440p AAA". It's running the games on 4k Max or near Max settings and getting 60+ fps. Are you sure you've even watched the video? The only games it doesn't perform well on are the newer ones which are so terribly optimized that 60+ is impossible, blaming the card for bad performance here is dumb.
I have 4070, but I have bought 4080 super and will sell 4070. 4080 id the best videocard for 2k 100-120 fps gaming for AAA games. 4070 can't get stable 120 fps in God of war, Uncharted 4, Spider-Man, Resident evil 4 remake, The last of us.even Mafia 1 can't get 120fpd without framedrops. 4080 can get 120fps in most of games.

Just buy 7800xt for 500$ or less and you have very good 1440p ultra gpu.

I had a 4070 and started playing finals and was struggling at 4k now i ordered a 4080s i can now have a 60fps experience at native 4k
Update: this game can also run 4k 60fps with ray tracing on 4080S IS A BEAST

Bought 4080s month ago, cyberpunk ultra settings in 4k in heavy locations show 20 fps, but adding dlss at changing to high give u playable 50-55 fps

Im glad I bought a 4090 before the price increases. I was excited for the 4080 super but now I know none of these cards get even close to the 4090.

To have 100% usage of gpu in RDR2 you have to turn off tripple buffering
no game uses the gpu constant 100% its always about 95-100% when gpu limited

Save for the RTX 5000 cards. Even a 4090 is whack at a laughable 20 fps 4K native.

It's a ok deal but there's plenty with more performance but little more money like a GTX 1060 6gb, GTX 1070 , rx 580 8gb and 590 8gb just look around more and if you have more to spare there's the infamous Rx 5700XT that's in most cases used under $160
Aim for a 1070, best price/performance/vram amount on the used market momentarily.
(There is a very recent video on youtube comparing all 10xx series price to performance)

4k looks amazing but until we can get games like cyberpunk high to max settings at 120 fps 4k with at least quality level upscaling on at least 500 to 600 dollars GPUs 1440p will still be the best option and sweet spot for pc gaming.

At least the price dropped for the 4080 for this one. Hopefully by the time the 4080 TI comes out it performs close to the 4090 much like the 3080 TI was to the 3090.

There will be no 4080 Ti unfortunately. 4080 Super is the last one for the 80s in the 40 series.
Highly doubt there will be a 4080ti. You never know, though. There was a rumor awhile back that there was going to be a 4090ti.
A super card should atleast be at 120 fps even in extreme conditions in 4k. Unfortunately that gpu has not been created yet. Do you guys, think that the 5090 will be that gpu?

i think that one of the shadows settings in cs2 is bugged and can cause performance drops of like 50% when near smokes
I don't get why everyone is crying so much over these newer cards. They definitely have a worse price to performance ratio than the older generations but the rate of technological growth is slowing down so obviously we won't be getting more performance for the same price.
And for people saying "sad you need a 1000$ card for 1440p AAA". It's running the games on 4k Max or near Max settings and getting 60+ fps. Are you sure you've even watched the video? The only games it doesn't perform well on are the newer ones which are so terribly optimized that 60+ is impossible, blaming the card for bad performance here is dumb.

I have 4070, but I have bought 4080 super and will sell 4070. 4080 id the best videocard for 2k 100-120 fps gaming for AAA games.
4070 can't get stable 120 fps in God of war, Uncharted 4, Spider-Man, Resident evil 4 remake, The last of us.even Mafia 1 can't get 120fpd without framedrops.
4080 can get 120fps in most of games.
