As you were concluding your recording, you asked viewers for some familiarization as to what were their occupation back in their days in Belize. Well, about a week ago, I was viewing the bicycle race, and I was saying to myself, I wonder what area that is? It is so beautiful. Shockingly it was in front of what is now called Digi One. I say shockingly and is now called Digi One, because BTA BKP was my reporting location. For those who don't recognize those initials. BTA is or was Belize Telecommunications Authority and BKP is or was Belize Kings Park. Although I had the opportunity to work at the Corozal Exchange (Trips to Chetumal, Tecate, and good times), Orange Walk Exchange (enjoyed Progresso, Paraiso, and other villages), and the Belmopan Exchange (Enjoying Beefeater Gin and Pink Tonic in the then beautiful Bull Frog garden, eyes closed enjoying classical and jazz music), including the Albert Cattouse building Exchange, BKP was my reporting location from '80 to '85, and I honestly did not recognize the location. Viewing this video, I can smell and taste the salt in the breeze coming from that sea... memories never leave you. They may be stored somewhere, but they come back so quickly and vividly! GREAT JOB. KEEP IT UP!
Good Morning. This is most interesting walk around belize city. You bring up some names and streets and buildings of great interest from days n years gone by and also from. The present day. I am a retired dispatcher/security guard who used to work at us embassy when it was on gabourel lane. I have a photo of thebold embassy in the gallery on my phone. I now do repairs on clothing. I darn torn pants etc. Also do some limited alterations. I also make banana cakes, mamee cakes and carrot cake on order. Well man keep up the good work. Love your videos very much.
Guess what. The house you were speaking of that been there a long time next to that house was Audinette yard. They had a lot if houses in their yard all the way thru to York street. Mr Mundo had a little shop there! Funny you mentioned the Thurtons. My great grandmother was married into the Thurton family. Her husband was Frank Thurton. They had my grandfather Erick Thurton then he had My mother Gwendolyn Thurton. The Thurton family is a large family. I also was told that the rich Thurtons did not spell their name with an h. Like the not so rich Thurtons did. So there was Thurton and Turton.
In my time residential homes pretty much stop at the gas station after Pallotti. Those areas were where you use to go catch crab with yu kiss-kiss, all swamp land. Those are beautiful homes, nonetheless.
Just prior to the conclusion of your recording, you arrived at a facility (beautiful facility with helipad) and said this is the hospital. How many hospitals are there in Belize? I thought the hospital was at the site of the old nursing school, but that area doesn't seem to be Princess Margret Dr. nor St Thomas Street.
Here is my two cents. I lived in Belize when you could buy a chinee converse or the green hulk at Sikaffy's. Everyone knew the street characters by the name of long tong Walta, bucket man and Ramsey with the mule and cart. Might be before your time. And eventually met a Belize girl in Florida and 25 years later .......

What is that yellow sprawling commercial building @ 3:22? Is it a mall??
That's Brodes Supermarket.

Why would someone be allowed to park a big old school bus on such narrow street?
Thanks for all your beautiful comments.
