heee HOW?, first thanks to cccp and Russian ANTONOV! our ''Wiki-shmicky'' > Foundation and relocation The company was established in 1946 at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association as the top-secret Soviet Research and Design Bureau No. 153 (OKB-153). It was headed by Oleg Antonov and specialised in turboprop military transport aircraft. The task was to create an agricultural aircraft CX-1 (An-2), the first flight of which occurred on August 31, 1947. The An-2 biplane was a major achievement of this period, with hundreds of these aircraft still operating as of 2013.[6] In addition to this biplane and its modifications, a small series of gliders A-9 and A-10 were created and built in the pilot production in Novosibirsk. In 1952, the Bureau was relocated to Kyiv, a city with a rich aviation history and an aircraft-manufacturing infrastructure restored after the destruction caused by World War II....Antonov was RUSSIAN!....Antonov was born on 7 February 1906 in Troitsy, Moscow Governorate, Russian Empire (now Podolsky District of the Moscow Oblast), Russian Empire to a family of Russian Ethnicity.[1] In 1912, the Antonovs moved to Saratov, where he attended the non-classical secondary school (now gymnasium №1) and secondary school (now school №23). From an early age, Antonov was fascinated with aviation and spent much of his spare time at the local airfield.! so.....ENJOYoopsbuffering Russian built, Russia destroyed IT.

the AN-225 set the record for how big an airplane can be. This is a record that may NEVER be broken. If these things were put into production, they would have to make new airports that are big enough for these giants to land in. The law requires that airplanes are inside a hanger when they are worked on, so they will have to make larger hangers. Will there ever be enough money to make all this stuff? I wouldn't bet on it. The Russians attacked the Antonov factory last month and the AN-225 got destroyed. It is unlikely another one will be made.
I’ve seen the 124 a handful of times, even once in Goose Bay and two at once in San Fransisco but I never got to see the Myria. Such a terrible shame. Up yours Putin and GO ZELENSKY!!!
I couldn't even look at the photos of her sitting wrecked in Histomel airport, it's an absolute tragedy but....... hopefully, the second unfinished Mriya can be finished to bring the Ukrainian DREAM back to life, she's a symbol of their National character. With a name like "Major Antonov", he was clearly destined to fly her after his military career. At $30k per hour to hire, she will soon earn the money to pay for the build..... although she did get through about 18-22 tonnes of fuel PER HOUR!!! That's a lot of fuel.. It’s a shame this beast was destroyed.. BUT.. Ukraine has been talking about using the second fuselage that was never completed in the 80s to rebuild the Myria
It was a beautiful airplane, I loved it so much but I’m really sorry it’s gone !
I saw her come to Stansted airport a few times, she's an amazing lady to see in the air, she looks far too big to even be able to get off the ground...... but she does, effortlessly.
Слава Україні, героям слава!!!!🇧🇧🇧🇧✌✌
I remember when she came to Seattle she will be missed.
Had the pleasure of seeing this aircraft takeoff at DFW airport
My company charted this aircraft in 1991, if memory serves me, for a very special and bulky high-value load. I want to say that it landed in Seattle on Boeing's runways.
I don't think 1991 could be correct, though, as Bill Clinton was lamenting the fact that it flew here with our cargo.
This is a terrible loss, not only for the aviation world but for mankind. The AN-225 was a magnificent beast that I have trouble seeing replaced by any company or country.
If true that the 225 was just destroyed…Very sad day, what a waste, for such an important, Beautiful aircraft ! 🥲
It has been destroyed but the Ukraine president has said it WILL be rebuilt.
@@joshcook8586 unfortunately unlikely, the shell hit the hangar behind the center section.
the whole question is in the state of the power spar of the left and right wing consoles, how they withstood the thermal effects of fire.
After all, there is nowhere to make them, the plant in Uzbekistan did not survive the 90s, and not only the equipment, but also machines of such size and power.
sorry for google translate

Woah I’m from Newfoundland never expected it to start off like this
I have seen it once, flying high above me at about 35k feet, could see all 6 engines and its distinct tail
i saw it twice at least, once while landing; a truly majestic sight to behold and another time parked alongside several jumbo jets which it totally amazingly dwarfed. truely a remarkable sight to behold.
never thought it would see such end.
And just as of today, damaged almost beyond repair
One can only hope that if the sister of the mriya 225, which is still unfinished. Survives this bloody conflict, I'm unable to find anything suggesting it was also destroyed. So hopefully there's still hope in it being finished, and taking up her sister's mantle
The narrator got the NATO Names of the two Antonov giants wrong; The NATO Name of the AN-124 is CONDOR, and COSSACK was the NATO Name of the AN-225.
i love this channel, keep up the good work!
RIP to a gentle giant ❤️
I think I speak here for everyone in the words similar to Captain Picard of Star Trek when I say this:
Let aviation history never forget the name… *"Mriya".*
A true legend of the aircraft industry and very sad news to hear of her untimely death...RIP
What a beautiful bird.
Cool Ukraine color detail.
At 20:40 the narrator says the takeoff speed is over 850 kph. Which is around 500 mph. 😂😂
I came the comment section for exactly this. I would dare to say he meant 350 kph although I don't know what her real takeoff speed was. He then says cruising speed of 800kph, lol. RIP An225, you will be missed!
A quick search reveals takeoff speed was between 290 and 320 kph depending on weight.
I'm sorry it has been destroyed, but don't say that the AN-225 was made by Ukraine, because that's not true. It is a Soviet-era aircraft, and has received the participation of technicians from all over the USSR.
RIP! Antonov 225. 🙏🙏🙏
Wish the war will end soon!!!
It was developed by Soviet Union... not Ukraine...
... Oleg Antonov was Russian... AN 225's designer Victor Tolmachev was also Russian
Unfourtunately, it was destroyed today😪 The last one...
Only one was built. There is mention of a second airframe, but I've never seen it.
That was a psychological move
Hope to see you soon beloved MARIA , Epitome of Aeronautical engineering
Game Over!
so sad the end of an era i never her i did see spruce goose at long beech but to see the an 225 would have been a bucket moment
RIP You glorious flying beast
I can dream can't I.. one day I hope I can see it..
I'm so sure the flurry of "ackshualllly it was Soviet" comments minutes apart is a totally natural and organic response from random people of the world.
Actually it was a Soviet plane. Centralized system and assigned to that bureau.
Yes, a Soviet plane designed by a Russian.
RIP Antonov AN-225 we will miss you !
how the """"""soviet union""""""" made the biggest AEROplane in the world
Antonov An-225 is a Russian made plane the base plane was the An124. An-225 was designe for russian space shuttle. Antonov born near Moskow.
The Ruslan is actually designated as AN-124, not AN-224.
Exactly.... Oleg Antonov was Russian... AN 225's designer Victor Tolmachev was also Russian
those people know nothing. it was just luck they got the factory in Ukraine, it could have been any other republic
Totally agree!
It was based on the AN124 and not AN224. AN224 does not exist.
I hope the mechanic is still alive and well 🥺
farewell big girl. you will always stay in our hearts
Ukraine didn't exist back then, shouldn't this be titled 'Soviet Union'?
There is hope of a return. A second air frame exists and I heard a strong rumor today that it will be rebuilt over three years at a cost of 5bn.
So long...old friend

Magnificent plane. A true one of a kind. A shame Russia destroyed it.
Maybe not
no, ukraine destroyed it
heee HOW?, first thanks to cccp and Russian ANTONOV! our ''Wiki-shmicky'' > Foundation and relocation
The company was established in 1946 at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association as the top-secret Soviet Research and Design Bureau No. From an early age, Antonov was fascinated with aviation and spent much of his spare time at the local airfield.! so.....ENJOYoopsbuffering
Russian built, Russia destroyed IT.
Yeah, well it was Russian through and through...
@@martinda7446 but, doesn’t Putin claim that Ukraine is historically part of Russia?
(Before everyone starts going at war talks, Oleg Antonov, the founder of the Antonev company was born in Moscow, Russian Empire. ) The plane designed and build in the Soviet Union.
yeah so its Soviet designed and built, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union, its home base was in Ukraine so they took it over.
And the Russians bombed it

the AN-225 set the record for how big an airplane can be.
It is unlikely another one will be made.
welp.. one of my dreams was to see the goliath that was the 225.. it has now been destroyed..
This is so devastating💔 This is our Titanic, they said she’d survive and she didn’t:(
i saw and visited the cargo deck and the flight deck at rickenbaker angb in columbus ohio in 1992.
I’ve seen the 124 a handful of times, even once in Goose Bay and two at once in San Fransisco but I never got to see the Myria. Such a terrible shame. Up yours Putin and GO ZELENSKY!!!

It was built by the Soviet Union. Antonov is a Russian.

A casualty of Putin’s Folly!
Слава Україні, героям слава!!!!🇧🇧🇧🇧✌✌
R.i.p Antonov AN-225, Destroyed by Russian Forces at the airfield near Kyiv.
why wold russia leave their masterpiece to ungrateful neighbour let nato assist them with theirs
ukraine didn't make this airplane.
Soviet Union made it. The factory where it was assembled was indeed located in Ukrainian SSR.
In the context of today's events this is a gigantic distinction.
Actually Antonov was Russian born and Antonov studios where set up in Ukraine to give work to Ukrainians ...but that bit no one tells
@@luisvalentim99
Yep.
In a centralized Soviet economy important decisions - such as factory locations - were made in Moscow, by communists.
Obviously, as with anything concerning government, not all decisions were good. For example... oh, I donno... like Crimea transfer from Russia to ukraine in 1954... 🤷🏿♀️

I was thinking about this plane the other day, and if it was in Ukraine at the time
And lastly....... I promise!!....... what the Russians do so well is the "build 'em clever, advanced but ever so simple, tough, sturdy, easy to use, shoot, drive, fly etc" theory, they have absolutely perfected this style of design since the 1930's. Nobody else can do this as well as the Russians.
as afar as I know there were 2 of them but 2nd was half finished. after russians destroyed Mriya Ukraine will have this 2nd plane half done. And I hope this new one will be far far more advanced.
I saw Mriya when it arrived to Zagreb to pick up transformer for Indonesia and it was really the sight to see. dwarfing all other planes in airport...they seemed so tiny. And Mr Antonov piloted it
Wow, what a memory! It is such a shame Mriya was destroyed. I saw some footage of it right after it happened. The wreckage was listing to one side and one of its wingtips came to rest atop a tiny Cessna 152. It was like the smaller plane was saying, "don't worry, big sister, I've got you - I won't let you fall!" So sad what things have come to.
Good job well done
the takeoff speed is around 130 knots (which is something around 250Km/h), not 800, also it's Soviet-made ;)
It flew into the Minneapolis Minnesota airport in the last several years as announced by the press and now I wish I had gone to see it now that it’s destroyed.
RIP Big Bird.
How many flights had it taken ?
This video was posted a day after the 225 was destroyed
Unfortunate timing of the documentary release.
It is quite sad to see such a pinnacle of aviation achievement be struck down like this. I watch those videos of it in awe, as it parted mist and roared through the air. My cousin saw it land in Western Australia, and I hoped I would one day.
The Ukrainian Government said it will build another if they get out of this. By Crikey, let's make it happen again!
